Catherine I love Trader Joes, that’s where I buy the packets of pumpkin bread, I will look out for the dried mandarins next time we are there.

Our DIL likes world market, I think it’s called, they sell furniture and food but I think it’s quite expensive but you can get English food, that what she goes to buy.

One family in England are being guinea pigs for some trials for the virus, I think they are brave, who knows what they are injecting into them.

Going back to the antibody tests, Quite a few countries are saying they have the tests that are accurate in this mornings paper, not sure if they are testing everyone or just key workers, not sure I would pay for one yet although some countries are saying they will make everyone have one before you can travel and carry a certificate, suppose they will charge a fortune to test us. What if they say we haven’t had it, does that mean we can never travel!,
Trouble is there is so much in the papers you can’t be sure anything is true. Good news is that we only had one death yesterday in Murcia, still lots in hospital and intensive care but good news at last.

Happy Saturday morning! Gloom and rain here, but good for the grass seed, if the birds haven’t eaten it all.

Some places are beginning to open, with restrictions in place. Our local farmers market has reopened, just the food stands and not the craft ones. People are wearing their masks. Signs on doors say no admittance without masks on. Our favorite plant nursery is planning to reopen next week and then we can get the hanging farms for the cardinals to make their nests.

DH took a drive through Notre Dame college campus yesterday and said it was so creepy, not a person or a car in sight everywhere.

Petsmart has also reopened and their grooming salon is allowing one person at a time into their lobby. Dusty has a 9 am appointment. She will be mad at me the rest of the day, but she is in desperate need of a trim and her nails clipped.

Off to get ready, be back soon!

Kandie, sounds like you are getting partial out of lockdown in your area.
I hope they will let us out a little in two weeks Then we can get things done, not that I would have coffee or food out but just to see what’s out of our Urbanización would be nice.

The grooming salon was very well organized. Blue tape on the floor for each dog owner to stand to wait his or her turn to go into the salon, one container of disinfected pens to sign papers and another to put the used pen in. Very well done.

Now we are back home on the couch with more coffee and our breakfasts.

Jan, I hope seeing that other nations are slowly loosening the lockdown, with restrictions, will enable your government to follow.

Morning!

Some places are opening in Wisconsin, much to the dismay of our Governor! Some counties are still having increasing outbreaks.

Yuck, as I started to type Athena starting throwing up again. Got her outside and then diarrhea! This has been going on with her for years now. She's ok and then all of a sudden starts days with being sick. Even though it's chilly out I opened the front door for her to watch outside. So she is laying down doing what she does best, watching so no one gets on her yard, not that she can do anything about it if something happens to walk across it!

Kandie, nice you could get Dusty in for a nail trim! My youngest son does both girls, which is a big job, always has to shower afterwards, since it is holding them down to do it and then he is covered in dog hair.

Jan, hope things start to improve for all in your area.

All of this is just so strange, it's like something we read in a history book, that should have only happened years ago. I would have hoped all countries would have been better prepared.

So sorry Ann to hear your poor Athena is suffering,

It’s like being in a horror movie, I try not to thing about it too much as it gets scary wondering when we will be free to carry on our lives.

We’ve just had a briefing from the home office, apparently some low life’s are scamming people by selling testing kits in the UK and America, they don't have any of course!
All sorts of scams going on across the world they are saying, people are so disgusting aren’t they!

Birds are singing here. Even had two robins fighting over a worm! It is 61° but no sunshine. I'm doing laundry, burning trash and cleaning. DH went to his brothers to cut down more trees. I hope this is the end of them. DH had lots of bruises on his arms last weekend from it.

Good morning.

Ann, so sorry to hear Athena is sick today. She sure has it tough with all that throwing up. Poor baby!

Jan, yes, so many horrible human beings out there ready to make money off of other people's misery! But, then there are so many wonderful, caring people too! Hope the restrictions lessen soon where you live. So happy to hear the death rate is dropping.

Kandie, is Dusty giving you the evil eye now? It is going to be sunny and warm today...into the 80's. Sorry you're having rainy weather, but like you say, it will be good for the grass.

Relaxing, drinking coffee. I did make 2 cards yesterday while videoing with sister and friends from Wisconsin. I forgot to keep my foot up and by the end of the night it looked like I had an elephant foot! I did ice and wrap it. A lovely shade of deep purple but amazingly it doesn't hurt.

Kathy, I love the singing springtime birdies!

Hope your Saturday is a good one!

The birds here are in full song. Very early, I think it must be mating time as they are chasing each other around, ha,ha, one blackbird was on our neighbours roof the other day, singing away, Steve was whistling and you see his head held on one side listening

I emailed my SIL, Steve’s brother died suddenly five years ago so she is on her own, she says she misses her sister as they spend a lot of time going out and on trips, I was surprised as I thought they would have got together as they are both on their own, obviously she can’t spent time with her family either.

It is fun listening to the birds sing! When we walked the dogs, I was calling to this huge raven high up in the tree. I'd call and he'd listen and then call back. My DH was laughing at our ongoing conversation! Not sure what we were talking about though.

Hi everyone! I wish I could send you some of our heat. Yesterday was quite warm - of course, later in the summer we will think of a day like yesterday as cool, but we aren't acclimatized to the heat just yet. It was 90 down the hill yesterday afternoon. DH wants to go hiking this afternoon, I'm concerned about being too warm for me!

Jayne, I've never had a real Anzac biccie but am sure I would love them since my coconut-oatmeal cookies reminded my friend of them to the point that she thought that was what I had made.

Jan, the dried mandarins are just like candy, so tasty. I like to go to World Market to find fun things but they aren't so conveniently located and I don't like to make lots of stops at different stores since I'm not a shopper!

It is too bad your SIL and her sister couldn't quarantine together. I think it would be hard to be alone during this time. Of course, perhaps it is better to be alone than be with someone who drives you crazy?

Poor Athena! And her poor humans, Ann.

Kandie, yay for getting Dusty in for a grooming appointment. Honey is started to look shaggy, thankfully it wasn't too long before this started that she had her most recent grooming appointment. If her nails get too long before we can get her in, I will try to talk DD2 into trimming them. She bought a nail trimmer for Wesley that works for both cats and dogs. She has trimmed a nail of Honey's before but wants her sister to do it since Honey is her sister's dog.

Kathy, the birds have been singing like crazy here too. At least the birds here sound pretty. At the rental house, there was a bird who squawked...early...I didn't like that bird!

Gracie, keep that foot up! I'm glad it doesn't hurt though.

I do that with the mockingbird. He sings and then I sing back the same sound!

Catherine, those coconut-oatmeal cookies sound so good! Hope it's not too hot for a walk. It's 80 here but a strong breeze so it feels good.

Gracie, I just got back from doing the loop with DH. Because I went around twice with him, he relented about going on the hike. He was going to go by himself because none of us wanted to go. I'm thankful that going twice convinced him to not go hiking alone. Now I'm sitting under the fan with a cold glass of Brisk tea.

I absolutely LOVE the coconut-oatmeal cookies, Gracie. They are so tasty and the recipe makes a lot of them.

Sure, Gracie. I'm attaching a Word document here with the recipe on it. Let me know if you need it typed out because you don't have Word on your computer.

Kathy, I'll have to check out the videos later. DH and I have come across Restoration Home on Youtube. They are following various people who are restoring historic homes in the UK. Very interesting, you learn about the history of the building because they research it too.

All this talk of cookies and chocolate... I made some Reese's bars tonight. I'm going to have to freeze them, so I don't eat them all at once.

Catherine I will download that recipe, maybe one day we will have four again.

Steve made a pasta sauce, normally he makes double quantity and I made lasagne but I realised I can’t make the sauce without flour! My favourite too.

Catherine we are watching Escape to the Chateau, they are restoring chateaus in France, it started with Dick Strawbridge and his wife buying one, he is famous in England for restoring a water mill and scrap heap challenge, now they visit other chateaus to see what others have done. Some bought them for less than an apartment in London!

I will look out for the one you mentioned as e watching that sort of thing.

Default Hello

Waving hello,
Happy Belated Birthday Karen!!!
Ann, I did check the list carefully thist time- so sorry about the last one!

I have been watching the birds alot, waiting for the hummers and Orioles. I have had red finches in ther grape jelly, a robin with a sweet tooth and today a gray squirrel! That was a sight! This time of year, we start seeing a variety of birds, but it is raining so much, I will not get out to bird watch. I'll have to chat with the birds in my yard! LOL

My son and DIL posted a little video of the baby, finally has decided to crawl! His 1st Birthday is in 3 weeks. I spoke with a couple of 'old' friends this past week, one I used to work with in ICUm she moved to the GI lab (where you get your colonoscopy....) and had one day of training and is reassigned to the ICU now.... the other on a Covid floor.

Ann- so sorry about your dog!
Kandie- your hubby sure likes to get out! So nice you got your pup groomed! Katies dog is big and has had a toenail crack, so she is a little worries about his nails.....
Catherine- sounds wonderful there!
Kathy- I love the video's- and the one of the singing- I could watch over and over!
Melanie- Reese's bars- sound dangerous!
Gracie- so sorry about your ankle! Glad to hear your pup is better- and she is beautiful! White lab???
Jayne- sorry you are not healing well. Happy Anzak Day! I think that is like our Memorial Day. Funny thing here, most every year it rains....! No card here yet, I will let you know when it arrives.
Ann sent a beautiful card early, and I have another from Sharon. I love that SU stamp set , and you have made the prettiest card I have ever seen using it! Thanks to both of you!

Waving hello to all- I have to sign off and get to bed!

Shelly

Escape to the Chateau sounds fascinating. The one I mentioned is on Youtube, I'm not sure how many episodes there are but I really enjoy them. I have watched a few Youtubes on a channel called Doing It Ourselves and it is following a British family that has purchased a French Chateau and are restoring it. It is very interesting too.

You are completely out of flour there, Jan? Hopefully, you'll get some flour soon. Thankfully, our stores have been able to get flour again but they are having a hard time getting a supply of yeast in. I got a strange kind yesterday, will have to see how it works.

Melody, are Reese's bars like Reese's peanut butter cups?

Yes, Catherine. Pretty much the same, but homemade. An entire 9"x13" pan full. No baking.

Jan us neither. Tomorrow they are lifting our restrictions to 10 at gatherings. Yay. We will just see the family and little ones for now. We’ve only had 1 case all week and travel related. People have been good doing what they asked and it has paid off. We have only had 8 deaths in our State. I just hope that it doesn’t spike later on. I’m very nervous about letting my guard down for now. We would be heading your way tomorrow...feeling sad.

Did you finish your painting?

 Keep well everyone.

Jan I love Trader Joes too...we shopped there when we stayed in the US in air.bnbs. Our crows are making a racket outside..horrible things they are. They come for the olives on next doors tree. I was going to google what to do with olives as my neighbour doesn’t want them. I love olives.

Gracie hope your foot is ok today. Mine is still black across two toes and we strolled today..it hurt slightly so I’m not going to push it. Frustrating as around the house it seems ok. I still have it strapped. Take care.

Kandie, I bet Dusty looks a picture all groomed now. Ann, sorry to hear that Athena still isn’t well.

Reece’s bars..we had a family quiz and my nephew posted 10 choccie bars from the UK and we had to guess their names. Reece bar was one. I only got 4 right as I had forgotten the names from my childhood. Was a fun chat on zoom.

We love shows on homes etc in the UK. We are watching one on Cathedrals each week..fascinating and we love home restoration shows. This week one of our favourite shows Greatest train journeys starts again with Michael Portello. Gosh so many good shows and not enough time to watch them all.

I’ve been sitting on the deck sorting out bags of memorabilia to do with trips..so far I’ve been to Japan, US and Canada, the Baltic’s and Europe. Oh was so good. I buy a postcard and bookmark from each place and will be scrapping them. Still a whole box to go through but I’ve been procrastinating since January. It’s a gorgeous 24 degrees today..we love April as it’s the best weather here. No wind and just beautiful.

I wish that bird would stop crowing outside lol. Makes such a racket. There are two of them now lol.

I have to get on the phone to Emirates..wish me luck as they say we have a credit but haven’t sent us one. Also going to try my luck with booking.com as we would be in Spain this week and we need to get our monies back..or something. I thought I had fixed it but only partially.

Enjoy the Anzac biccies ladies...now I want a bickie. I ate a blueberry muffin with cream last night and we have bananas going off and I have custard in the fridge..mmm...bananas and custard for dessert. Another favourite. First a cuppa and a wagon wheel lol

Have fun. Waving and hello to everyone else I’ve missed.

Ok, everyone was chatting about birds singing and I was fine, but you all ended the day talking about sweets and Reece’s - and now I’m hungry! I ADORE Reece’s in any form!

I too like to whistle with the birds, and especially when they sing back. However, not knowing what we are chatting about, the bird could be looking for a date, I may be saying me too, and then it’ll get a terrible shock when it realizes it has been conversing with a totally different species!

The birds are chasing each other, and then flying up a few feet and flapping their wings, and then chasing again. And the squirrels are also running together up and down the trees and across the lawn. I do believe love is in the air, lol.

We have this seldom-seen optical illusion called sunshine this morning. Like Chicago it has been nothing but cold, rain and wind lately.

Oops, I had a thought about what to write about next but it disappeared!

Our millennials decided to hold a car party last night, aka cruising, and over 500 cars were circling an area and filling up empty store parking lots to listen to their stereos and wave at each other. The police had to ask them to disperse since they were on private property, but totally understood the frustration about nothing to do and nowhere to go, and were polite and sympathetic. The carloads were polite as well and did leave, but promised to come back to the same place next weekend. Maybe the cops will be lenient and let them cruise for a bit again before shooing them home.

Wow, I remembered what I forgot, but I’ve forgotten again, so I’ll end this post and say good morning, everyone.

Ah yes, DH just asked me if I needed anything from the store, lol. I chewed him out earlier because I made him out a list and he folded it up and put it in his pocket but never referred to it and so didn’t buy what was written down! Sigh

Six more pew babies made last night while watching tv. I did some research online about what ladies at nursing homes might like in this time of no visitors and handicrafts were on the lists. A little girl on tv this morning is making smile cards. . I believe I’ll make my babies and donate them. I’m thinking of attaching mini cards that just say HUGS or something like that.
