Well, 3 hours on the road and I'm back home! There was a bad accident and the road down the mountain was closed down. I was 5 cars away from getting through, but then, again, I could have been in the accident! Happy and sad. There's only one way down to Phoenix to see my daughter. It may open later and I'll get to join them for supper...it takes me 2 hours, so I was almost there!

Catherine, glad DH and DD1 made it to Maryland! Hope you enjoy your new Gina K stuff!

I don't have an InstaPot, but we have air fryer that works well.

Well, my back is giving me fits after being in the car for so long, so I'm going to go ice it. Later~

My back and feet are hurting from my three hour errand run this morning.
I had an air fryer. It was a gift. I would never have bought it. Hated it. Gave it to my niece! I just don't need one more item on my countertop. And storing it in the closet made it a chore to get out so I just didn't use it. I've heard of instant pots but again, nothing I would want. I've heard lots of good stuff about them. It's just me.

Thanks for your replies on the instant pot. I do have a slow cooker only. My friend says it is great for making soups in, which I something I would like to try. Made lots of soup last fall/winter and if it can save me on time, I am all for that.

Yeah, Kathy, my dh says where are you going to put it, lol?. I might store my slow cooker in another place and it can go in the drawer, I said.

Catherine glad everyone arrived safely.

Gracie, I am intrigued about air fryers too! Sorry about your back. Hope you do get to see your daughter.

Going out for a walk. It is sunny after the rain stopped.

Default Hello

Hello ladies,
Gracie- so soory about your traffic jam and sorry about your back too!

Kathy- thats alot of errands- I can see why your feet ache!

Shirl- I have 3 friends that have Instapots- they LOVE them!  I guess they go on a Facebook page where there are tons of recipes.  Their favorite part is that everythink cooks in one pot and so less dishes to do . Melodie would knoe- I think the meals cook faster timewise too.....
I do not have one though.....  I may ask for one for Christmas.  I do use the crock pot a good amount

Catherine- hope your DH and DD1 have a great trip- I really love DC!  There is so much to discover and see there!

Melodie- bread sounds delicious- bet your place smells fabulous!

Jan- that treat sounds terrible!  LOL  There were alot of pickled vegetables in China when we went- I tried to like them....but no success!  COngrats to your GS for being a good listener!

Good news about Karen- she was only on here a short time when I joined, and I was finally about to meet her a bot on a Zoom. God Bless her!

Jayne- good for schedules- maybe I need one....LOL

Hubby's baseball team is starting 'playoffs' and there is a game both Sat and Sunday afternoon.  He really really wants me to come watch, so I will spend the afternoon in the cheering section to watch.  He says non of the other wives or S.O's have been coming, but I will definately social distance. When I am there, they try to take a team photo, so will bring the camera with me.

Off to be productive : )

Hello to all I missed!

Shelly

I'm not getting much done today, arthritis is flaring up in my left hand!  Tylenol is not working. Joys of getting older.

Don't have an instapot. I have five crock pots!

I have two crock pots. One is a small round one and the other is larger and oval so I can do pot roast in it. DH has a small round one for work. He will make something in it and take just the crock to work and put it in the base. Then he brings me his crock from work. It's a good system. I made him BBQ ham two weeks ago for sandwiches. This week it was hot sausages.

Hi everyone, lots of chatter, that's good!

Kathy, it is too bad that mis delivered UPS package wasn't filled with crafting supplies! Now that would have been fun!

Shirl, we have an instant pot and I love it. It took me a while to get used to it though. I have a crock pot that does nothing but take up space in my cabinet. I NEVER use it. My DH kept hearing about Instant pots at work and wanted to get one so he bought one for the family. It took me a while to get the courage to use it. I agree with Melody, the instructions that come with it leave a lot to be desired.

I came across a vegan food blogger who wrote her own cookbook. This was after DD1 decided she should be vegan. I decided to try some of the recipes on the blogger's website, www.rainbowplantlife.com, and we loved them so I ordered her cookbook from Amazon with the goal of getting more delicious vegan recipes and getting over my fear of the instant pot. I'm so glad I did. We use it a lot now, sometimes I wish I had two of them! We even took it with us to Tahoe on our vacation because DD2 wanted the vegan lasagna from her cookbook.

Sorry about the traffic issue, Gracie, but agreed, thankful you weren't in the accident! I hope you get to see your daughter.

Sounds like several of you are experiencing higher pain levels today, I'm sorry about that and praying you feel better soon!

I’ve never heard of Instant pots, I always wanted a crock pot but steve being the chef always said he wouldn’t use one but then we did buy one and he loved it especially when we went to football matches, we would leave a stew on for when we arrived home in winter, I also make soups in it, we also looked at an air fryer but no room to keep on, our kitchen isn’t very big and I hate cluttered worktops.

Catherine, pleased to hear DH and DD arrived safe, Our son said he is expecting power cuts as its forecast a heatwave this weekend, he’s all prepared, he gets quite obsessed and has a garage full of emergency things, we found a bag that they had packed for earthquakes etc, it had baby clothes in it, the youngest is 8 next month! Good job they didn’t need to use it.

Gracie thank goodness you wasn’t involved in the accident, when I was driving around Madrid I was overtaking a lorry and just about to pull over when a car undertook me, luckily I saw him, such idiots, can’t wait two seconds!

Ann sorry you are in pain, we find even doing the small jobs we  soon feel it the next day, the joys of old age

Good morning.  I’m finally caught up on the chatter.

Catherine, I wish your family a wonderful time in their travels.

We have a small crockpot that I brought with me, and a large oval one that DH already had.  I like to make soups in them and let them simmer all day.  Otherwise, they get very little use.  DH won an air fryer at the casino.  We tried it once and hated it!  And I remember when everywhere we looked there were boxes of Instant Pots for sale.  DH is the main cook and he wouldn’t use it.

Oops I got sidetracked, lol.  Sorry.  The FedEx man just dropped off a package of stencils I had ordered from Joann Fabric and Crafts!

Yes, the pain has hit, I don’t know whether it’s the weather change or the pollen change.  Ann and all who have been feeling bad, I wish you relief soon. I know I’ve had a constant headache and my fingers swell and ache.

Gracie, thank goodness you were 5 cars back!

I’m sorry I haven’t been on.  I’ve been buried in trying different ink techniques.  I have panels all over the craft room waiting for an idea to strike!  And now with 8 new stencils, I may not come out of the room for quite a while.  Actually, that’s not true.  Dusty Dog and I have developed a bit of a schedule.  At 9 I go into my fun place, about a half hour later I hear her claws on the floor as she comes to get me to take her out again.  Then she’ll come to get me to chase her around the living room.  Then she stares down the hall for a couple of hours, and then she’ll finally lie down and take a nap.  Every day we do this.

Kandie that sounds like our GS, he plays for a while then wants a chasing game, most of his games are usually he’s a poisonous monster and I’m the explorer, ha,ha, not much quiet time but I do miss his cuddles!

I’ve got new stencils to try but we were taking off the wooden mould on the  concrete box we made, then it needed some tidying, then I scrubbed the tiles on the drive , it really needs hosing down when I’ve tiled the box, felt too tired to craft, maybe tomorrow

Jan, your tomorrow is my tonight, get some rest after all that, and I wish you fun craft time at the end of this day.

Dusty just came and got me for her first bug-mom visit outside, and I found another caterpillar on the porch!  I have never seen so many furry caterpillars before.  I wonder if that means anything weather-wise?

I've never used the deli paper. I have heard if it being used but can't remember why? Maybe like wax paper to get intricate dies to releases easier?

I haven't used deli paper much but I watched a gel plate video the other day and the artist used it to remove paint from the stencil openings before removing the stencil and taking the print. Because it's thin, it can get into the openings better. And then you'll have an interesting and varied print on the deli paper. I like the fact that it is translucent so you can see through it somewhat.

Gracie, that is quite the traffic jam and I'm not surprised that there is only one way to get someplace. The mountains seem to create that. I remember a trip to CO where we wound around the mountains, ran into some construction and stopped for a while, all to get someplace that would have taken an hour in Wisconsin. Very few mountains here.

Just uploaded two cards for the IC.

I have arthritis in my knees and some tearing of the meniscus. Also tendonitis in the Achilles which might need surgery eventually. My hands are pretty good, just a little in the thumbs and they don't swell. I'm sure it's very debilitating and painful.

Catherine, my son and daughter in law are vegetarian. Leah has been most of her life, although early on, she did eat fish, as her family does. Joe wanted to get healthier so he switched to veg. Leah tried vegan for a week but couldn't do it. Neither eat any fish and they try to eat eggs and dairy that are raised properly.

I've decided that stencils are a great way to go instead of certain stamps. Easier to store, less expensive. Will I stop buying stamps?? Oh I don't think so.

My daughter Liz just ran a half marathon in northern WI. It was a tough course, couldn't go as fast as she would have liked, but she's happy. She is going to be 39 in December and starting to feel all the aches and pains of aging. She does have a trainer and a PT so she is going about it the right way. Just frustrating for her.

Guess that's all for now, can't remember everything said. Oh, I don't have a lot of kitchen gadgets. Liz likes her Instant Pot, but she has a family to feed.

Good morning.  Yes, deli paper is used by many for gelli prints.  I have some... somewhere, but no idea where.

I hear the virus has increased in Wisconsin. Any truth to that, ladies? My niece lives near Milwaukee.

Jan, i forgot to mention how very sweet that your GS got a gold star his first week!  I remember getting gold stars and also remember my two DDs getting stars!  So great!

Jean, ouch on the arthritis, tendinitis and tears!  I feel your pain.  I have a left knee that has started going out on me, the normal aches and pains from age, aches and pains from the horse riding accident (my iPad changed it to horseradish accident, lol) and the psoriasis has started affecting my joints.  Four fingers on the right hand are bending to the right.  Ordinarily I would be incredibly upset by that, but there is a lady who works with DH whose fingers are so twisted from that.  And yet she plows on, she may hold stuff funny, but she makes it work.  She is a huge inspiration to me!

I liked being vegetarian, and then I met DH, and he’s all about comfort food.  Grrr.

LOVE stencils!!!  I have some I’ll probably never use, and then I have my favorites.  In today’s mail I received the TH autumn layering stencil.

All right, Liz!!!  You go, girl!

Deli paper works with gel presses?  I will have to track that down.  I just recently learned it’s used a lot in mixed media projects.

Default Hello

Kandie- I have some Deli paper for the Gelli plate, used it a few times. I see many people use printer paper more than the Deli paper now- it is much less expensive : )

It's a windy day- not sure I am going to see Rays baseball game today afterall- feeling like all of you- sinus' pressure and achey!  Perfect day to stay in and create.  They are in the championship game with his 60 and over team, but also play tomorrow- so will go tomorrow instead.  He is in a hitting slump, but so fast, he pinch runs alot if he is not due up in the batting order.

The older computer I was using the past 3 months until Best Buy let me get a new one (old one not fixable) just crashed- ugggg that is the bad thing about digital images.  I had it backed up somewhat.....

Have a great day!
Shelly

Hi everyone! I have been playing with my gell plate today and having so much fun. Always when I've done prints before, I used acrylic paint but today I was printing with distress oxide inks thanks to Jennifer McGuire's recent video. So much fun, I have about 24 colors of distress oxides. Playing with that and stencils and having fun. Now I have more backgrounds for my stash...which was already full of backgrounds from other times playing. I need to use these up!

DH and DD1 called last night but we didn't talk long. They needed to get to sleep!

DD2 had a friend over for a few hours this afternoon. They were so happy to get together. Her friend's parents drove her up to our house (we live about 30 minutes away from them) and then they drove to Reno and back while she was here with DD2. (It takes about 1 1/2 hours to get to Reno from our house - when it isn't snowy and icy that is!)

Kathy, I'll be happy to post a photo. Thanks for the card!

Jan, yes, we are expecting a mini heat wave (thankfully it is mini) and our power company has already let us know they may be turning off the power Sunday afternoon through Monday night due to winds and fire danger. Right now, there isn't even a breeze. I'm praying they don't turn it off, I don't want to deal with the generator with DH not here, plus it is going to be too warm to sleep without fans.

Good for your son being so prepared. I should do more to have a "go bag" set up for if we have to evacuate. I should put DD2 on that!

Kathy, John Rich has a beautiful voice. The song reminded me of something I heard which, I think, is so true. People have a plan for God and then get mad when God doesn't follow their plan.

Oh, new stencils, Kandie, what fun! I need to organize my stencils. I don't have that many but it would be great to get them organized.

I chuckled at the routine Dusty has you on. She has you well trained! lol

New stencils for you too, Jan? Fun! And you are always so industrious working on your place.

I think I asked this before, is deli paper like waxed paper? Or parchment paper? I have never used it for my gel printing because I don't even know what it is necessarily or where to get it!

Congrats to Liz, Jean! That is a great accomplishment. Was that her first half marathon? Or has she been running for a long time? I ask because a few years back I decided I wanted to run a half marathon to see if I could. My DH and I trained and then I ran two half marathons, actually. They were about two weeks apart. I still run a little but nothing like that. DH called me an adult onset runner!

What are your favorite stencils, Kandie?

I'm sure you've been having fun with the grandkids, Ann.

Hi Shelly, sorry you are having sinus pressure and aches...and wind!

Catherine, deli paper is that super thin waxy paper they wrap your lunch meat in at the deli.

Yeah, not as heavily coated with wax, though.  Basically the same as any take out place uses to wrap a sandwich, only not printed with a logo.

Hi everyone. Popping on and to say hello.

Catherine the deli paper you remember is probably what I showed you ladies on our zoom call a few weeks ago. I’ve used it with my gelli plate for about 2 years. We call it greaseproof paper. A tag I posted this week has a deli paper butterfly on it. I love using it but it’s very fine. Ours is very cheap. About $3 a roll. Ours isn’t waxed but you can get waxed. With the gelli plate I prefer to use paints and get much better results than any other medium. I tried the inks and still ok but the prints are much more vibrant with paints...that is what I find.  As you know I make a lot of prints and use them a lot when I can’t think of what to do on a card..so easy. As for stencils...I love TH, Kaisercraft, Dusty Attic (an Aussie company)...gosh I’ve got so many and different brands. I try and just buy those I don’t have and found yesterday that I had 3 different burlap ones the other day.  Some I’ve never used amd because they are 12x12 and I can’t get them on my small panel lol. I ordered 2 Paper Artsy ones and they are big. No idea what I will do with them. Have fun creating.

I’m taking it easy. Long story but I received my results yesterday and they came as a shock. I am waiting to see a specialist this week and have been put on the urgent list.  Feeling a bit sorry for myself but onward and upward. It is a relief however to know that all the times I’ve felt unwell I wasn’t imagining it.  I got to the stage where I felt like that and am glad I persisted. I won’t write on here the whole saga...but will be in touch and will get on a zoom call one day with you all.  It could be worse so I am just going to see the specialist and find out what the next steps are.  It can be fixed.

In the meantime think of all the crafting time I will have lol as I’m not doing much else lol.

Keep well everyone. Thanks for listening. Hugs

Jayne, so sorry about the test results, but like you say...at least it wasn't just your imagination. I hope everything can be fixed quickly and easily! You deserve to feel sorry for yourself...it's been a crazy year! Sending hugs and healing thoughts across the ocean.

I'm hoping to craft today. I did finally make it to my daughter's at about 4:30 pm on Friday. (A day that started out at 9 am, where I had to drive back home because of an accident and truck fire...the road remained closed all day.) I had to take a round about route that took me on miles of curvy 2-lane mountain roads. I was exhausted by the time I got there, but I'm glad I made it. The trip back home was much more uneventful...thank goodness.

Kandie, I love how well-trained Dusty has you! I'm glad you're having fun with stencils. I'm just starting to experiment more with them too.

Catherine, I hope your electricity doesn't get turned off! It is suppose to be hot here too. I can't wait to see what you create with all those backgrounds!

I'd better get off this computer or I'll never get to my craft room. Hi all and have a blessed and happy Sunday.

Morning!

So much fun with the grandkids!!  We made smores by the fire, they were so excited!!  They have never seen such a big fire.  Youngest son used bricks and made a fire pit so it keeps the flames more in check.  We always have a hose right next to us though!

The grandkids could not believe that I like my marshmallows burnt!!   Love them that way!  It's an acquired taste!  LOL!

Anyone else like them burnt?

Rains are coming in this afternoon so no going outside today for me!

Have a great Sunday everyone!!

Ann, I like my hotdogs burnt over a fire. My marshmallows more golden brown. Glad you had a great time with the grands! Off to feed my neighbors doggies!

Good morning! Today is the day they might turn the power off...never mind that there is NO sign of wind outside. We shall see what happens. The critters are testing my patience this morning. Of course, I did go to bed WAY to late last night so my patience might be in somewhat short supply.

Honey is feeling better - yay! But much less bladder control, it seems. Poor baby, I don't think she can help it. She is eating more, another yay.

And Wesley is wound up this morning getting into things she knows she isn't supposed to. Whew, I think she has finally settled down. She is on the window sill in front of my craft desk.

Linda, no, sorry, I'm not giving any craft toys away. I could send you some backgrounds though.

Thanks for the info on deli paper. I have no idea where one would purchase that out here. I don't think I've ever seen it anywhere.

Jayne, you are in my prayers. Sending big hugs to you!

Kathy, I hope you slept like me last night.

Melody, please send that cooler weather out my way. I'd appreciate it!

That sounds like an exhausting trip, Gracie. I'm glad you made it and the return trip was much better!

Ann, I like my marshmallows golden brown like Gracie. Sounds like you had a lot of fun with your grandkids.

I played around with the wreath builder stencil last night. I didn't like my first wreath very much, DD2 said it was pretty but I think she was just being kind. The second wreath was much prettier to me.

I guess I should quit playing with these things and make my Z card!
