Melody that’s why we finally bought a new car last year, our twenty year old Volvo drove like a dream but we kept having little things going wrong, some expensive too, the worse thing was keep being without a car for weeks while they had to find the new part.
I miss the old car but it’s lovely to not worry especially on a trip to the Uk

Jan, DH is thinking then we'd only have one vehicle.  I hate driving his.  Maybe I'd get used to it, but I doubt it.

We went down to one car when we retired, I don’t really miss mine as we usually go out together anyway, a pain when one goes in for repairs and you don’t have a spare although the garage is in the port so we just dropped it off went a walk then to the shops and two hours later picked it up, before we had to drop it off wait for a ride home , so much easier with this car

Good morning! It was lovely to Zoom with you last night and finish my Y card (thanks for the love on that card) while I was on with you. Sorry I had to leave but DH and DD1 are leaving today and I had things to do to get ready for them. You know, like laundry! DH also needed new tennis shoes/sneakers whatever you call them where you live. I bought a pari for him on my way home praying they would fit and be comfortable. Hurray, they worked! He is so swamped with a work issue that he didn't think he'd have time to go and shop for them himself.

Jan, Lloyds only insured our home for one year. Then insurance in this state went crazy and they sent us a notice of non-renewal. I had hoped, after last year, that insurance would be going back to normal but I don't think so, not after this year!

Missed you on Zoom, Kathy!

The only downside I see to one vehicle when both are retired is when that one vehicle needs repair. Other than that, for the most part, it is positive. Obviously, if one needs to go one way and the other a different direction at the same time, that is also a challenge. I have been thankful that, if we had to have vehicle issues, it waited until this year when we could manage with fewer thanks to DH working from home.

That reminds me, Jayne, I need to go check out Sharon's blog.

Ann, I didn't see your junk journal. My question about those is what will you do with them now that they are finished?

It was fun seeing most of you on Zoom. My internet signal was either very good or very bad "weak connection". My back was bothering me, so I gave up and went to bed.

Hope everyone has a great day! I'm going to try to create a bit today. I may just have to stand and create! Oh these "golden years"!

Hi Gracie! You are supposed to have much better internet in Arizona! I'm sorry your back is bothering you. My stress goes all to my neck and back. DH was kind enough to give me a massage last night after he had gotten all of his tasks done for the day. I'm guessing, however, that your back pain isn't from stress. Hugs!

My Gina K order (spoils from my craft fair) has made it to CA and should be at my house tomorrow...yay!

Yes, safe travels to your family, Catherine!

Your question about the junk journal, mine is going to my granddaughter, who loves to collect things, so the pockets will be a great tool for her and she loves to draw too. Lots of pages.

I am thinking I will make junk journals for the grandkids to study insects!  Lots of pages to write on and draw and hopefully I will find images of bugs they like.  Well that's every bug for Teresa!  Except!!  After son was stung by the yellowjacket he of course killed it.  Teresa said no don't do that!  Until her uncle explained to her that they serve no purpose except they hurt people! Then she said stump on them!

Gracie, sorry to hear your back is bothering you!  Stand yes but ice your back too!

That is a wonderful idea, Ann. Teresa might need a couple of junk journals to cover all the insects she loves!

I love to see junk journals but I don't make them because I have no one that would like them and I have no space to store them. I'm downsizing and getting rid of a lot of stuff. Mostly clothes or things like that. Not getting rid of my crafting stuff....yet.

I just had a quick try of my sizzix 3D embossing folders, they are very impressive, I was just putting the bits and pieces I bought and thought I’d give them a try.

Trying to decide what to do with s package mom got from UPS. She opened it because it has her address on it but when she saw it was a children's book she looked at the name and it's someone we never heard of, but definitely mom's address. There was a paper in the book and I was hoping it would have more info but it looks like someone won the book and they want them to read and review it. It appears to be from someone at Simon and Schuster. Not sure what to do with it since it was delivered to the address on the package. Wonder if ups takes return to sender?

Kathy, I don't know how big your town is, but if it's small, you might be able to check if that person is living nearby.  Otherwise, I guess I'd contact the package carrier and tell them it was incorrectly labeled.

It's a small town, but not a name I recognize and not in the phone book. We have foster parents in the school district but I wouldn't know them. What is mom's responsibility for returning this? I don't think we should be expected to track down someone. What do you think?

I don't think she has any responsibility, since it's not addressed to her, but it is her address.  Whoever was supposed to get the package will most likely report it to the company, and they are responsible for sending out a new item, or reimbursing, etc.  The carrier might be able to track it, so I would guess hold onto it for awhile.  Or if you want to contact the carrier and let them decide what they want to do.  But, no... not your responsibility.

I think it was free so there wouldn't be a charge to anyone but Mom doesn't want to get more stuff for this child. I will tell DH to take it to work tomorrow to their receiving and see what he says. I suppose I Could send a letter to the return address. I would just put it aside and wait but Mom and Dad are in their 80's and don't need more stuff to come to them. I'll see what DH says when he gets home. If it were mail I would write return to sender, addressee unknown, but never had something from UPS . before. Actually I think there's a UPS store near Walmart and I'm going there tomorrow! I'll look online to see if they are still there.

You could try calling UPS.  They would either pick it up or tell you to toss it.  I think most of the time, they aren't even going to bother trying to track a package that was delivered wrong.

Hi all,

I just finished my 2nd card out of 3 for the teapotters. One more to do.

I love having my own car. I can drive and play the music I like etc. Going to miss it when or if we decide to go to just one car. I get my alone time fix when I am driving, lol.

Jan what are the names of the e.f.'s you got? Inquiring minds want to know. I am waiting for the SU specialty plate to arrive next week for some of the 3D e.f.'s I have. It has not been available till recently. And even when I ordered it yesterday, it said inventory was low.

We have stormy weather until Monday. Lots of rain, and wind but we still saw sunshine today, so we got out for a walk while the gettin' was good.

Kathy, hope you can resolve the package issue. Good thing you are going to UPS tomorrow.

Ann, your junk journals for the grandkids sounds like a really unique gift for them.

I couldn't zoom yesterday. Was off getting my haircut and doing various errands. Glad those of you who could enjoyed it.

Was Annette on? Haven't heard from her lately.

Gracie, I had to take a tylenol last night as my back was bothering me, but I am fine today and have my usual monthly appt. with the chiro on Friday.

Kandie we have now finished watching all of Away. It was filmed here. I sure hope a 2nd season is planned. I miss it already!

I heard from Karen and she says she is getting feeling back in her right side since Monday. A very good sign!

Laundry buzzer just went!

Hugs to all,
Shirl

And they are off! They have to drive to San Francisco Airport for their flight. That is about a two hour drive from our house. Their flight is scheduled to leave at 12:59 am.

Guess what? My Gina K order came a day early so DD1 got to see it before she left. Both girls are so excited that I got the kit with the sushi set in it.

Kathy, my understanding is that if something is sent to you incorrectly, you can keep it if you wish. But a children's book doesn't seem like something they'd want anyway.

Shirl, yes, Annette was on last night. That is great news about Karen, thanks for letting us know!

DD2 and I are watching the classic version of The Parent Trap currently.

Shirl, one is called elegant it has feathers on it and the other botanical, they are lovely, I’m very impressed with them

So pleased to hear the update from Karen, I was thinking I must have missed an update while I’ve been away.

Jan I have botanical and a few others that I can’t remember the names of...some are SU and some TH..one is like metal and so cool.  Trouble is I have to make masculine cards to use it and I don’t do many masculine cards lol.

Thanks Shirl for the update. I have heard from her too.....So happy to hear that she is doing good.

Gracie, have a fab trip and hope that your back is better.  Safe travels also to Catherine’s hubby and DD1.

Back to it.  I’m on a mission today.  Have a great weekend everyone.  See you next week sometime...I have a new schedule I need to stick to otherwise I won’t get stuff done....my iPad tells me my screen time is always up lol...as DH says I do more chatting and saying what I’m going to do, than do it lol......Here I go.

Spent this morning making a concrete base for the water barrel, we had to stand In a large bucket when we’d finished to wash our legs and feet, then I had to rinse our clothes as there was too much cola blanca on them. I even washed Steve’s trainers and my flip flops!
Now we are exhausted so sat in the garden but it’s really hot.

Morning!

Jan, does Spain have the four seasons?  Wondered about it, Victoria always told me, you know Hawaii doesn't have fall so all these cards that are made for Challenges in the Fall are not wanted here unless sending them off to the States.

Catherine, hope your families flight is good!!

Shirl, thank you for the good news about Karen!  So good to hear she is progressing.

Ann , no we don’t have the seasons really, it’s just cooler and then by April it gets hot again, now it’s still hot but the temperature will slowly drop, winter is sunny during the day and gets cold during the evening, we have a log fire that we light about 4pm, it warms the whole villa as it’s open plan.
The fire backs on to the spare bedroom, our son says it heats his head in bed!
Once he bought a girlfriend here and she got sunstroke in March, you can never be too careful here.

I didn’t realise that in the craft mag I bought in England it has a stamp set and a set of dies for a pillow box, might be useful for giving GSs little treats when we see them

Our youngest GS who is four was given a gold star for being a good listener during his first full week at school, hard to believe but anyway his treat was pickled squid! He loves it, our son sent a photo of him eating it!

Good morning! We've already has a power blip this morning with the power being off for a minutes or so. I have no idea what that is about but we are on a power watch for Saturday-Monday. I told DH no more traveling for him in the fall! He did go over the generator stuff with me before he left, hopefully I won't need it.

I just got a text from DD1 that they made it to Maryland, which is where they were flying into. DH's sister is meeting them at the airport. Glad to know they arrived safely.

Jayne, I need to be on a mission today too. I hope you get all your things accomplished!

Congrats to your grandson, Jan, being a good listener is excellent.

I should get busy too. I'll check in later.

DH took the ups package to work and their UPS guy said he can take it. He said something about the label but not sure. DH doesn't listen well if it doesn't concern him! LOL

Took me three hours for errands this morning. Post office, atm, Walmart (twice since I go through and get mom's. And then back in for mine. There is no way I could have fit both of our things into one cart because mine was full and running over!) I forgot to look at the back of my list so I forgot my butter, margarine, and milk) I grab some milk at my local grocery store. I now have enough toilet paper to cover the zombie apocalypse! I have a 84 rolls! I bought a 20 pack today. Yes you heard me right. I am stocked up and shouldn't have to shop for a while.

Catherine, I might have considered keeping the package if it had something good in it but I'm not interested in a book called Saucy. It had a flying pig on the front cover and it's for 8 to 12 year olds!

Just back from the chiro.

kathy, glad they took your package back!

Jan, I don't think I would be sampling that treat!

Off to upload and hopefully do some challenges.

Have been thinking of buying a 6 qt. Instant Pot. I can get one for free on airmiles. It is even wifi compatible, but I wouldn't use that bit.

Does anyone have an Instant Pot? And how do you like it?

My friend was raving about how great they are and so it got me intrigued.

I have one, Shirl.  I asked for it for Christmas a few years ago, but I haven't used it a lot.  I'm still getting used to it.  I have a slow cooker and regular pressure cookers, so if I'm pressed for time or on a DH schedule (haha!), I will use my regular pressure cooker, because I know how much time it takes.  I think the instant pot takes longer to get up to pressure, but I'm still learning.  I've used it several times as a pressure cooker, but not as a slow cooker.  I've also cooked rice in it, which was great.

One thing I will tell you, and this is probably why it has taken me so long to experiment... The instruction books that came with it are pretty worthless.  One is your basic instructions, but it doesn't really tell you how to make anything, and the recipe book is for what I thought were rather exotic recipes that we'd never make.  I just wanted some really basic instructions.  What I've used it for are a couple of my go to recipes and I do them the same as with my regular pressure cooker.

Search out some sources on line for blogs or facebook groups for instant pot.  They are much more specific on how to use it.  And you will find lots of good recipes.

I should say that it is wonderful for pressure cooking, as once it's been set to go, you don't have to watch it or even be in the room.  That in itself is a wonderful advantage over a regular pressure cooker.
