Morning all or oh, it is 12:30 ish here now. Just finished my FS card.

Pie yum! Jean, I have been baking a crustless pumpkin pie now for awhile. Tried various recipes until I found a keeper. Course we do load on the whipped cream still, lol.

Catherine- sorry you were not able to make it to the hairdresser. Hope you can soon. And we have smoky air here today. It was quite dreary looking when I got up but seems to be a tad brighter now. It is definetly blocking a wonderful fall day though.

Kandie, I am glad you are getting a nice fall day.

Kathy, I wish we could all come over for some cookies!

I listen to music sometimes when I am crafting, but yeah, I can't concentrate on making something and talk at the same time. I am not as talented as a lot of you are, lol.

Gracie glad you made it to Arizona. Yay!

Melody thanks for the strathmore link.

Ann, I hope you can squeeze in a nap today. Curious minds want to know what kept you up late.

Jayne, speaking of copics, I now have two that have gone dry, and I don't use them a lot. The latest one is Y21 and the last one is YG13. Good thing I probably bought them at 50% off at Mikes. Rather disappointing though.

Got to go figure out what to have for lunch now!

Shirl

Shirl, pour a little alcohol into a small container and set your Copic in it, dry end down into the alcohol.  After a little bit, take it out and try it on paper.  That’s the downside of alcohol markers, the alcohol sometimes dries out.  Very simple to put the moisture back in and reconstitute the ink!

Whew! I think I am caught up on commenting on Alphabet challenge cards (unless you didn't link it in the posting thread). I was a bit overwhelmed when I saw how far behind I was, thankfully, however, a lot of them were combined with DTGD cards...yay!

I don't usually comment on the challenge that I haven't done yet (XE) but, this time I went ahead and did it looking for inspiration!

Jean, I love pumpkin pie too. But it is a dangerous one to purchase because there is a recipe out there that I don't like as much as the recipe on the Libby's canned pumpkin can. That is the perfect recipe to me and you can't tell which recipe it is just by looking.

I'm glad you got to see the yellow ball in the sky. Out here, due to so much smoke, it has been more orange than yellow.

Sorry for your loss, Linda.

Kandie, thanks for the suggestion on the Copic marker and re-hydrating it. I have one that I purchased that is dry so I'll try that.

Thanks Melody for the class and tips. I also do the same for passwords as your son suggested. We read it in a seniors magazine years ago lol. The problem is I get the lower and upper case mixed up.  Thankfully all our passwords are saved now.  Makes life easier. If I forget I just do another.

Linda, sorry for your loss.  Hugs

Pumpkin pie..I love pumpkin and the inky time I had pie was when we were travelling in the States during fall years ago.  Yum

Yay Gracie is back. Have fun reorganising your craft room.

Off to our accountants and then have to finish getting organised for our trip. See you all later. Have fun.

I didn't leave them in long. Lots of color came out in the water. Who woulda thunk that. Both of the colors are much darker than original. Guess they will dry out and be the same as before?

Thanks Kandie!

Morning, just having five minutes until everyone comes down for breakfast, GS is going to school every morning this week so everyone is having to get organised, son is off to London so we will shower etc after everyone has gone before goiNg to Canterbury.

I like to listen to music while I craft, I like to chat but I’m not very good at talking and crafting, I wish we lived on a closer time zone so I could join the chats, thankfully Jayne rings me so we have a chat.

Linda I’m so sorry to hear the sad news about your friend.

Gracie pleased to hear you arrived safe and sound.

I pull the nib out of the marker and drop a few drops of alcohol into the barrell. Use tweezers to pull it out. Maybe seven drops of alcohol. 71% should be okay, but I have 91% here.

I wanted to use a couple of Nuvo embellishment pastes yesterday, both were dry as a bone. At least those can still be used with a little water, although they won't spread through a stencil any longer. Grrrr.

Yes the Libby recipe is the best and that's what I use for Thanksgiving and special occasions. The crustless one is just for me when I have a craving. Our local custard stand does a pumpkin custard, which is to die for...and pumpkin shakes and malts. Oh yum.

I'm so sorry, Linda, about your friend. When friends die, especially close to our age, it really makes you realize how precious life can be.

Seems like several people are having trouble with posting or even getting on SCS.

I watched a Kristina Werner video, watercoloring simple backgrounds. Made them all yesterday, very fun. I have a set of wc paints that I haven't used in a long time, now that I know a little more about watercolor, I really enjoyed using them. I bought them when I belonged to the Cherry Pie Yahoo group.

We just can't get rid of our clouds here. My weather app says 'hazy'....no it's cloudy...period. We saw the sun a little bit yesterday.

Go Pack Go!!!!

Jean I also have got Nuvo mousse that is rock hard and texture paste and crackle accents.  I added some water and nothing happened. Does it have to be warm water?  Tips welcomed.

I squirted some water on my glass mat, added some of the dried stuff and worked it with a palette knife, until it was of a consistency that I could spread it a bit. It won't get back to what it was but at least I could use my finger or a blending tool to add some to a project. Very disappointing.

Good morning and happy Monday.  57 degrees here this morning.  DH thinks we’ll not have a lovely tree color this year, and looking at trees as we are out and about, I think he’s right.  It was so dry for so long, a lot of the leaves are brown and just shriveled.  It’s such a shame.

Terrible night here last night, but only caused by the adults eating potato chips before bed and drinking too much liquid. I think DH made 4 bathroom trips, I passed him a couple of times, and Dusty got me up at 3 to take her out.  It was our own faults, and the poor dog got shuffled around every time one of us got out and in bed!  DH left to go fishing at 6 and the dog and I slept till 9!

For the MM fans, there is a unique dry embossing technique on the TLC thread!

DD2 finally texted to thank me for her birthday gift.  She had been out of town for a few days and didn’t get home till yesterday.  I feel better now.  But my brother’s package from IN to AZ should have been delivered on Saturday, and the tracking info said it’s been delayed.  Not surprising, given all the delays caused by the pandemic.

I have 4 packages coming in the mail today, according to my USPS daily email.  I checked my orders and it appears there might be a couple of reinkers and a couple of paints coming from 4 different Amazon sellers.  Dusty will enjoy sniffing all the packages.  She loves to smell the mail.

Shirl, I’m glad you got some return of ink to your Copic.

Kathy, I did the alcohol thing before I learned the nibs can be taken out!

I received an email from Joann Fabric and Crafts of a two-day sale.  Yikes!  Don’t look don’t look don’t look!  Oh no, I looked!  Imagine my surprise that Joann’s online has 3-packs of the flip-top Distress paints!  That’s the first time I have seen them.  And Jayne, there were some Darkroom Door stamps that were intriguing...

Here’s a funny...  a week ago an Amazon Prime driver knocked on the door to let me know he had left a package by the door, and Dusty went wild, barking and clawing at the door.  She always does that, and when the door is opened, she will run around the person with her tail wagging and want to have her head scratched.  The poor delivery guy, of course, didn’t know that, and he took off running, jumped in his truck and floored it!  (Dusty is a 16-lb jackapoo combo of Jack Russell and poodle).  Yesterday we had the same driver pull in the driveway.  Would you believe, he honked his horn, and DH went out to get the stuff?  The dog must have scared him to death!  DH came back into the house muttering “what a chicken”, lol.

Morning!

Kandie, not chicken, smart!  My mother was a mail carrier and she was bitten a few times by what people said was a cute dog or a dog that was secured in the house. So I have no trouble with people being cautious around dogs.  A German shepherd attacked her while she was walking and tore her arm apart. She wasn't even near the persons house who the dog belonged to.  Weeks and weeks out of work and all the pain of her arm. But better her arm then her face, she held her arm up to cover her face as the dog knocked her down.

Will have to go look at the TLC challenge!

Two more letters for this round!  Wow, where has the time gone!

Annette has thought of a wonderful theme for our next round, and together with Shelly and I we have it all set!!  Keeping it a surprise till it posts! LOL!!

Okay, good morning, all!  The technique challenge looks fun, but haven’t had my walk yet.  Just now ate breakfast!  LOL.
Kandie that is a funny story, but I have been bitten twice by small dogs when walking.  About 20 years ago, two houses from us, a little dog jumped off the porch when I went by.  I wasn’t too afraid, but then he jumped up and bit me it the calf.  It hurt and drew blood!
So I respect dogs all sizes!
And, how lucky your driver lets you know your order is there.  I just depend on the tracking.  If it says it is delivered I go get it.  Otherwise never know it is there.  None of them ring the doorbell or knock anymore like they used to.

Linda, I am so sorry about your friend.  It is so difficult to loose our friends.  And the older I get the more I loose.

Ok, DH is ready for walk.

Kandie Steve was in the police fore and had to visit a house as their tiny dog had bitten someone, they tried to tell steve it was harmless then it bit Steve too, they went to court and the the dog was There with pretty bows in its hair. Still got a fine though! Steve always says beware of little dogs.

I also can’t eat crisps/chips before bedtime, or chocolate, gives me indigestion then I’m awake all night, never used too, old age I’m guessing! I’ve been not drinking anything here after dinner time as we have to go down the hall to the bathroom here and I’m always worried about waking GS up as his bedroom is next to ours, I’ve managed not to go but at home with the en-suite we seem to pass each other going to and fro.

Good Monday morning, everyone! (I put the Monday in there for those of you who don't have to go to work and lose track of what day it is!) We still have unhealthy air quality, I keep hoping it will be better in the morning.

Little Honey is worrying us, she doesn't seem to feel well. Hopefully, it is just a passing bug.

DH has the van working - yay! Now to figure out what we are going to do about the other vehicle. Ongoing vehicle issues...yay...

DD2 seems to be enjoying her schoolwork thus far. Her latest thing is she wants a habit tracking app but can't find what she wants - and doesn't want to pay for it - so she has decided to figure out how to make her own app. She was designing what she wants it to look like last night.

Jean, when I make pumpkin pie, often there is more pie filling than will fit in my pie pans so that gets baked separately. So yummy!

Jayne & Jean, my glass bead glitter gel dried out and I've been adding water to the container, waiting, seeing if it is enough, adding more, etc. I have gotten it to re-hydrate, but it definitely isn't like it was originally.

Such fun, Kandie, packages today. I'll live vicariously through you!

I love dogs but I'm always concerned about dogs I don't know that are loose outside because you just never know. I can guarantee that no one would be afraid of Honey though, because she doesn't act like a dog.

This morning is more like what mornings used to be. DH left early this morning to go to my office. Friends loaned us a vehicle to get us through the one car situation and we are returning it today...so thankful to have it available and so glad to be returning it.

Thanks Kathy for the copic tip. I will shop for the 91% too.

Jean anything custard is tops in my book!

I am wondering if when we get new products like the mousses, if we put a piece of plastic wrap pushed down onto the surface if it will prevent it from hardening.  I posted about this before with ice cream. The plastic wrap stops it from getting ice crystals on it. That does work for the ice cream. Ha, of course you could eat it all at one sitting and then no need for plastic wrap, lol.

Hazy again today, although does not looks as bad as it was yesterday. I am missing the wonderful fall weather we were having before all the forest fires created this. Prayers for everyone affected by these dreadful fires.

Linda, the letter Z is for Sept. 23rd. So I guess Ann will be mentioning the new thread around that time. We may be taking a break perhaps as well.

Jean, thanks for the heads up about the Kristina Werner video. I will look it up.

Good morning ladies.  I'm not a dog person - bad childhood memories.  I'm very cautious being around any dog, even if I know it's friendly.  There are basically two types of dog - one that guards a person, and one that guards a property.  Usually they won't attack unless there is a threat, but you never know how they've been trained.

We had a mailman that always carried milk bone treats, and if the dog was outside, he'd slow his tuckl and toss the treat out for the dog.  I think that way he didn't have to worry about getting bit if he had to bring a package to the door.

Here's a really good short video by Julie Balzer you all should watch.

Good luck with the alcohol, I've heard it's still hard to come by. Not sure why, maybe they're not making it or it's going into sanitizer. My daughter in law's brother works for a company in North Carolina, he has been super busy working on new products of hand santizer (he's an engineer).

I just bought Kemp's pumpkin pie ice cream at the store this morning. We can't get the custard until closer to 10/31.

Good idea about the plastic wrap, love the idea to eat it all, Shirl.

What do you all think Thanksgiving and Christmas are going to look like? I know they'll happen, regardless, but it certainly will be different. I may be cooking a turkey breast for myself.

We are hazy here in WI because of the fires. Should be sunny.

If you don't hear from me, then you'll know the FBI came and arrested me! LOL. I've had four calls saying my social security has been frozen  and now the FBI is involved and if I don't press one I could be arrested! Finally blocked them and reported them. They must think I'm stupid. I dont give out my cellphone number to anyone but friends so it would certainly be funny that they called my cell that is not even linked to my name!

Yeah, Kathy, the FBI doesn't make phone calls like that.  They'd show up at your door.

I don't know why alcohol is scarce now because you can buy hand sanitizer. I had bought some to make my own but you must use 91% at least to make hand sanitizer. I have some 71% which is good as is. You need the 91% because you mix it with other stuff and in order to be at standard recommendations of 60-64% you must use at least 91%.

Yes. This scam has been around a long time. You'd think they'd give up since we know about it. But no, they keep plugging away. Especially obvious being that it's a recording.

How long have you had your number? Maybe Joan had that number before you?

As long as I've had a mobile phone.  DS used to borrow it in high school, so close to 20 years.  Long before I had text capability.  This stuff is fairly recent.  And I don't give out my number either, unless I have to on a web site when ordering something.  If a number isn't in my contacts, I don't answer -- ever.  The texts are really annoying, though, because it's a lot more steps to get through to block the number.

Default Hello

Thanks for the Monday reminder Kandie : )

It's a new week and we are told we will have 3 nice days, but hazy skies because of the smoke from the fires out West.  Prayers for the safety off all affected!  The forecaster said with the hazy skies, the sunrises and sunsets will be fabulous!

I have to say, when watching dark or scary shows, they give you a second thoughts about people!  Thinking people do these things IRL!  My husband was commenting about this yesterday, and we read about a rash of garage and car break-ins and then cemetery workers found bones at a graveyard here that are apparently human.....
We were once a very safe and uneventful city and surrounding area, but the gangs from Chicago have found the suburbs good thieving grounds.  People have to remember to lock their cars and not leave wallets and keys in them outdoors. They hit random cities all around suburbs of Chicago, so not here constantly, but we never had to even think about it before!

And, apparently I woke up screaming last night, someone was chasing me- and it woke up my husband too....  I have absolutely no memory of it. But, will take a break from Ozark for a few days!

I love the TLC for today, will have to give it a go! Off to find a hammer!

Melodie- loved the video of Julie ...cannot ever say her last name. I watch her Scan n Cut video's ...she is a great teacher....  And, I love her 5 tips- many I have heard in water color class- and I need Practice definitely!  (Practice piano as well and I will do that later.....hehehe).

Catherine- yeah for the van to be up and running!  Good news.  SO cool the kids can just make apps for whatever they want.  My youngest is good at that kind of thing as well.

Jan- glad you are enjoying your time with family, and Jayne is off touring now as well!

Thanks for the Copic tip. Luckily I have alcohol : )  I am not sure if it was for a technique like Polished Stone or what, but have one 63% and 1 91%.  I should remove nibs- I just put the nib itself in the alcohol.....  I am finding, that I need to reink my Copics much more frequently than before lately.....  I reink them by just dripping the refill on each of the tips instead of pulling the nibs out.

I like classes at Skillshare, but mostly I watch drawing and photography lessons there.

Off to grab a hammer and head up to make a card!

Shelly

Kathy, I got that same call from the FBI twice today! Crazy people!

Thanks for the Copic marker tips about using alcohol. Last winter, I threw out several...darn!

Catherine, glad the van is working...sorry about the other card! Always something. I had to put a new battery in my car, $178...no craft buying for awhile. I hope Honey is feeling better.

Jan, so glad you’re enjoying your visit with your DS and family.

Jayne, I hope your vacation is going well.

Ann, I've really fallen behind on the Alpha cards and commenting. Life sure can get in the way sometimes, as I'm sure you well know! Of course, you are amazing at keeping up on everything! I need lessons!

Linda, I'm sorry sorry about the death of your friend. Hugs!

Shelly, oh no, Ozark nightmares! Not good when you have theft going on in the suburbs, too. Keep your doors locked and watch a comedy!

Great video inspiration Melody!

Jean, I didn't get to watch Packers, but DH said it was a good game! Go Pack!

Hi Kandie, Shirl, Sharon!
