Morning!

I have some daubers too, haven't used them in awhile either.  I did notice they get dry.

Jayne, take care of yourself!!

Gracie, where are you?  Hope your flight was good!

THIS is what happens when you start out with a lovely tissue flower and glue it to a journal page, use the products used by the hostess in a video, decide you want to add a few black splatters - and accidently RUIN IT!!!!!

Lots of white acrylic paint smeared on, cut out a couple Dina Wakely images to cover the worst of the ruined areas, stick Washi tape anywhere, color swear words and glue them on, turn out the light and say FORGET IT, I’m going to go each lunch!  Lol

Kathy, a boot on a car is what we call the trunk.

Thanks melody. Around here a boot on a car is something they attach so you can't drive it because you aren't making payments!

What happened to this week?  Some one tell me!  I am going to set here and do nothing tonight!

Jan, your poor little DGS!  Broken collarbone.  I guess the good thing is he is young and hopefully quick healing.  But how to keep one that little still enough to heal?!
Jan, did you craft shop yet?mmdid I miss it.

Jayne, I have been watching Junk journal on you tube.  And doing The August DearJulieJulie Junk journal challenge, so have been busy.  I haven’t even been checking challenges on SCS.

Has Gracie checked in from Arizona yet?

Hi to all of you. Have  a great weekend!

Hi Sharon,

Did you zoom today? Thanks for the invite, but I just cannot craft with all of you on zoom.

We have haze here today because of all the fires south of us. We did get out for a long walk this morning and it was definetly cooler as the sun is blocked now.

Jan, so sorry to hear about your poor gs. Ouch! But we want you to shop, girlfriend!

Shelly, sorry you were not able to indulge in the crafty realm.

Kandie, I love that Winston Churchill quote!

Jean, I love banana bread. DH is eating them regularly and I am unable to get anyone's to get to the stage where they would be good for making b.b. But I do have two that are on their way. I need to bake something. We are out of treats at the moment.

Did everyone see that Linda posted a lovely card?

I went to the wrong car once, when I was with my mum. The Beatles were becoming popular at the time, (yes it was a long time ago, lol) and I think I was hearing She Loves Me and I got so excited and went to the wrong car. Something like that, like I said it was a long time ago and not exactly remembering all of the details, ha ha.

Catherine thinking of you and want you to stay safe! So sorry about your friends and family.  Did you get your haircut?

Now it is almost dinner time here, so will say ta ta for now!

I was only having trouble when I posted a link to my cards. It would not show in bold so people could not click on it. Sabrina  spent 10 mins. fixing it. Haven't made a card today so can't check to see if it is working now though.

I had lots of issues with posting last night so watched YouTube videos and others instead.

Here is what I tried to post....

Melody, the lady in our local craft store told me that they can’t get the dauber paints anymore as he’s now brought out the flip tops. She said that the sponge daubers also eroded after a while and there were a lot of complaints...I think this related to the stains which are also discontinued and replaced with the sprays inks.  I like the stains with daubers too.  It is frustrating that products are discontinued and especially when purchasing a class that uses them, but I guess the newer products still give the same effect.

I watched his video on the class tonight showing how to clean the dauber with just water, taking the whole top off. I like the look the dauber gives but as you suggest, putting paint on your craft mat and using a sponge would give the same effect.

Is it worth buying more of his classes?  I saw that it’s actually Kristina Werner and Jennifer McGuire who run the online class site.  I don’t want to spend more money and especially as I get charged in USD if his blog offers videos and tips.  He does draw you in though..very addictive and I find I want all the products lol... I love his work and listening to his voice, even if I nod off lol.

Happy day

Default Hello

Kathy,
I had a few issues trying to post- once, the post went poof.... and the other few times, it said I had to wait 30 seconds before I could post (when it was my first post) and other times it says it is a duplicate post.....

Jan- your GS sounds like a good sport!  Wow- you are great company doing all of that painting!

Linda- will pray for your friend!

Shirl- no worries about no craft stores- I really have enough and need to use some of my 'unused' items!  Too bad for the stampers that live in that area though..no Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Joanne, only Walmart......

We have been watching the Ozark series- on season 2 already...it reminds us a bit of a series called Bloodline.  Beautiful scenery in the Florida Keys and the music is similar too.  And, it can be considered a bit dark with the story line, but I do not think overall it is as dark as Ozark....

Waving hello to all
Shelly

Jayne, I personally think that there is so much information for free, why buy a class.  If you go to Tim's blog, he has videos on every product he introduces, showing how to use it, what kind of effects you can get with it, how a new color compares to already existing color, etc.

Yes, in his classes, he may show a particular project that he hasn't shown before, but most of the techniques can be found somewhere.  I took his chemistry 101, and I can't remember what the cost was, but our financial situation has changed, and I don't feel that it's necessary to pay for classes. There is so much information available for free, you will be kept busy for life.

I just looked through my tags from that class, and there are only a couple of the techniques that I've ever used again.

And don't feel you need to buy every product that he shows.  You can make your own sprays using ink refills mixed with water.  Or if you choose to buy the sprays, you really, really do not need every color.  Typically, when you are using the sprays, a lot of the color ends up blending together anyway, so start with primary colors, plus a few neutrals, etc.  Or pick your favorite colors.  Find out first if you really like playing with them.  Do that with any new product you try.  It's really easy to overload your stash with something, and then find out you don't enjoy playing with the product.

Shelly, we loved Bloodline. Thought it was the best thing ever at the time. We loved Ben Mendelson who played Danny! What a story!

Ha, ha, Jayne, it is easier to read, lol.

Sharon I haven’t been to the craft shop yet, I’m hoping next week although our DIL has been offered her part time job back as they’ve just re opened after lockdown so she may need us to collect GS from school as he is still only half a day next week.

Melody I’m with you about paying for classes, I watch too many videos as it is and I do follow TH on his blog so anything new I can watch, it’s a good job  I can’t keep buying craft in Spain or else I would be tempted all the time, I have enough stuff in my craft room ive never used, I usually just have a list when we go to SF and go mad spending!

We are trying to finish season three of Ozarks before we leave on Sunday, we were having bets last night how many would be killed, our guesses only went up to four, by the time the opening titles came up there were too many to count.

Jan, it gets darker....but such a great series and we expect there will be a 4th series once lockdown finishes and actors can get back to work.

Thanks for the tips Melody. I agree there’s a wealth of info out there and I won’t buy 103 after I finish this one and just follow his blog. I follow so many people on YouTube who do his techniques and also on FB a TH group. I sometimes feel overwhelmed with all the info and forget where I saw something.

Happy day everyone

Good morning, ladies!  Sunshine and fall weather today, for a change.  We have had so many storms the last week.  DH goes fishing tomorrow (yay) and is happy the weather promises to be nice.

I personally really like the TH classes.  I have learned so many things I didn’t know, and I make a tag for each lesson and put it in a binder with the printout of the lesson.  I have been flipping through the pages often to see what I might like to use on different projects.  I do plan to do 103, then I will follow the blog.

I had signed up earlier for a watercolor class on a site called Skillshare - boy was that a waste of money.

Okay, I have to ask.  What are these videos called Junk Journal and DearJulieJulie???

Shirl, do you like silence when you create?  I do.  I love to hear everyone chat, but I have trouble concentrating on what I’m doing!

Have a wonderful day, ladies.  I saw another project on Pinterest I want to try this morning.  Of course.  I’m hoping it doesn’t end up being covered with frustrated white acrylic paint like yesterday!

I dont have to have silence when I create, but I need the kind of noise that I can just listen and not have to think or reply. So when I zoom, it's usually just go say hello to my scs friends.

Kandie I bought some colouring classes during lockdown and only did the first one.  I did buy a heap of Copics too lol.  I have classes I bought when I first started making cards. They say they are available for my lifetime so I hope I can remember the passwords lol.  Happy creating everyone. See ya when I see ya.

I get nothing done when trying to create in a group.

You ladies may be interested in classes by Strathmore.  They offer free online workshops.

Jayne, you need to have a reference somewhere with your passwords.  But here's a tip for remembering passwords.  Create a strong password base that you will remember because it means something to you -- strong meaning there are upper and lower case letters as well as numbers and/or symbols (although some sites don't allow symbols).  Then at either the beginning or the end, add the first 4 letters of the site name or something similar.  Each password will be unique to that particular site, but you will be able to remember them, because the base of the password never changes.  My geek son taught me that a long time ago, and it's very helpful.

Oh, and most sites have a "forgot password?" thingy where you log in, where you can get a temporary password emailed to you, and change to your own once you're in.

Jan, so sorry to hear about your GS getting hurt, no fun for him!

It's cool and sticky here and everything is wet outside from all the rain. But still better then rain!

Off to get moving today, slow going today, stayed up too late!

Hi all! I'm trying to read all the chat I've missed over the last week! Where does the time go? I missed all of you!

I got back to Arizona late Wednesday evening. The plane was packed surprisingly but everyone wore masks. Everything went smoothly, thank goodness.

I've been busy cleaning and reorganizing the house and also busy reconnecting with friends here. Everyone was anxious to get together again.

I had trouble getting my internet reconnected, so now that I'm back on, I have over 160 emails! Sheesh! I've missed SCS and my Alpha friends!!!

I'll check back later and finish reading all the chat. I have to go make brunch and finish reorganizing and finding everything in my craft room again!

Sending big HUGS to all of you!

It was supposed to rain today, but no such luck yet. We do have a nice breeze going, which helps because DH asked me to make my pumpkin penuche cookies. First dozen are coming out of oven now. I will frost them later. I made two batches but I did them separately. Sometimes when you double a batch you don't need to double everything and so I was concerned they wouldn't come out right. It wasn't hard to make two separate batches

Good morning, everyone! It is smoky, smoky, smoky here. Our air quality seems to be improving, we'll watch it through the day. DH was going to go for a hike yesterday but we talked him out of it because the air was extremely bad yesterday.

I worked on catching up on alphabet cards yesterday afternoon. I realized that my DTGD unicorn card was after the U challenge, so I added it. I made a vintage travel card for my V (not my usual colors but pulled from the dp), and just uploaded my W card. So now I just have last week's XE card and I'll be caught up...then to catch up on alphabet card commenting!

Kandie, I think your frustrated panel looks lovely...probably not what you had in mind, but still lovely. I don't have much Tim Holtz stuff - distress inks, distress oxide inks, some stencils. That is about it.

Gracie! Glad you got there safely. Packed airplane? That is something I don't understand. Why is it safe to pack onto airplanes but not safe to socially distance and be at church in person. That is frustrating to me.

Jean, if only you could send that rain to Oregon and California!

Kathy, I remember my hometown used boots on people's cars who didn't pay their parking tickets or something like that.

Melody, you are a wealth of information (which I already knew). Thanks for the link to the Strathmore lessons. What do think of making sprays with liquid watercolor?

Shirl, sadly I didn't get my hair cut. I had too many errands and my appointment at work took longer than expected. I hope to rectify this problem this week. We'll see.

Sorry to hear about your friend, Linda, praying.

Jayne, I'm all for finding free resources online to learn from. I like that price point!

DH popped the new radiator in on Friday afternoon but didn't have the time to put the fluids back in. He has done that now and says that seems to have fixed the problem. Now to find another vehicle because it appears the Honda is toast. It just keeps coming!

Melody, yes i did go to the PO. I tried to report online but the form wasn't working. Nothing they can do.

I am taking Heather Telford's class. I love her work.

Pumpkin is my absolute favorite pie. I have a WW recipe, no crust, it satisfies my craving. It's one of those impossible pies.

Catherine, wish I could send the rain. We are finally in a good stretch, saw that yellow ball in the sky.
