Night Sally, stay safe.

Son got stung by a wasp this evening.  He was just walking on the yard not doing anything and it got him in the hand.  It's swollen up!  Rushed to give him benadryl and his inhaler to be safe. He and I are allergic to so many things we did not want to take a chance.  He was in lots of pain but held it together with the kids being here.

Melody, I remembered what you had said and I did make a baking soda paste to help get rid of the pain.  When I first stuck it on he jumped and said it hurt.

So far no reactions other then swollen at the sight a lot.

Keep him in your prayers ladies, please.

Night all!

Ann hope that your son is ok. Have fun with your poppets.

Yes I’m bad..it is always the same after watching videos or doing online classes.  They say you can use what you have...but.....these products work better lol.  Fortunately I have most stuff and a lot I never use or forget I have.  Kandie, I did buy that refresher stuff yesterday after watching TH use it. Never heard of it. The lady at our store said that inks should last you a lifetime if you reink them. I have 3 Versamark pads now, one grotty one that I think will become the poppets one and two others...I thought I didn’t have one...doh! I’ve also got the speckled egg...had it a couple of months and only used it once..and yesterday I bought the new pad...forgot the name of it but sort of a dark orange/red...I never get the reinkers as I have all of SU and CP’s and rarely used them.  My pads seem to stay juicy forever..well except the vintage photo and I forgot that reinker yesterday lol.  If I know they are going to be discontinued I rush out and get them lol.  I got some of that Cut and Felt stuff..so cool what he did with that.  I tried to send TH a message on this stuff but the forum that started 8 years ago is now closed. Does anyone know if ordinary reinkers can be used on that stuff or just distress?

Right I need to seize this day or I won’t get a thing done. I never got to play yesterday..all that stash and not used.  By the time I’ve watched videos I’m too tired lol.

Have a great weekend.

Hi everyone! It is hot here again, triple digits through Tuesday, I think. I'm so looking forward to cooler weather. I've been working on commenting on DTGD cards today. I still have more to do but finally decided I could have permission to pop on here and say hi to everyone.

Thanks for your congrats to DD2, she is so happy and so are we. I'm a terrible passenger but I don't get nervous when she is driving.

Wow, Sally! What a beautiful braid. I'm sure it felt strange when you shampooed for the first time after your cut. At least that is what I experience when I get my hair cut from shoulder length (or longer) to chin length, and that is much less of a change. I'm past due for another hair cut but the shops have been closed again. Congrats on finishing all the DTGD challenges!

Kandie, how wonderful that your brother really appreciates what you make for him. I'm sure your girls would love to receive money but, one day, I believe they'll really appreciate these wonderful works of art you created just for them.

Naughty, naughty, Jayne, enabling us!

Kandie, you totally cracked me up when you said you would throw a pot of open re-inkers at Jayne! lol

Gracie, I'm sure you are anxious for better internet. We really rely on that!

Congrats to your DGD, Sharon! Here in CA, DD2 has restrictions until she's had her license for one year or turns 18 whichever comes first. She'll turn 18 before having her license for a year (but not by much). She can't be out by herself between 11 pm and 5 am. She can't drive DD1 without us until Oct. 18th when DD1 turns 20. She can't drive other young people without someone 20 or older in the car. Those are the restrictions I recall. The driving instructor went over those after she got her license - and reminded her to listen to/obey/respect me! I love their training! lol

Ouch, Ann, for your son. Hope it is better soon.

OK, back to commenting on DTGD cards!

Default Hello

Hello,

I follow a store in Ohio called Marco's Papers- they carry a little bit of everything.  If you get on their mailing list, they have great discounts on the new releases of items, including TH stuff....  much less expensive than Kandie mentioned for the slew of new color items.  HERE is a link for the new color for example. Not to be an enabler or anything....  LOL I have been a long time customer and love this store, they are known for their papers and envelopes, but have literally a huge stock of all kinds of items!!! Great family!

Catherine- yeah for DD2 rocking her driving test!  Ahhh smogging test- we call it vehicle emissions testing, and we have to have special additives in our gasoline and it makes it more expensive.....  We have to pass it as well in order to get our vehicle stickers renewed- and we have to test yearly- $120....per vehicle.

Ann- hope you feel better- and that your sugars get stabilized!
Glad your Grandkids are able to come visit- my kids have the best memories of sleepovers at Grandma and pa's....
Prayers for your son- darn wasps!

Jayne- you are out behaving today, I just know it!  LOL  And, sorry you did not get a reinker.  I have been looking for a memento tuxedo black reinker and everytime I try to order, it is out of stock!
Leg cramps are freq caused by Mg and K being low- K=Potassium and is in bananas, the docs I worked with told me to get Magnesium Oxide- you have to ask in the pharmacy....  if you like tonic water, it is a good source of Mg!  (Don't you like G&T?).  Mg will give you gas /bloating a bit (think Milk of Magnesia....yes, similar).....

Jan- yeah for feeling better and getting closer to end of Quarentine!

Melodie- I am not sure I would have finished if not for a push by other!  I think the challenges were way more low key, but the chat was not as fun as last year : )

Sally- wowza- that is one long ponytail!  I have been thinking about doing that, my hair has to get a bit longer still. Glad the salon could get you and your mom in alone!    Wow- hope you are doing OK after the hurricane! Congrats on Queen Status.

Gracie- buy things and do not use them?  I craft late when the stores are closed, so I need stuff...LOL  Glad your visit with sis and Mom went well!

SHirl- that chicken sounds delicious!  I will have to look that up- I cannot have soy but have found a great alternative!

Sharon- I have looked at tutorials for junk journals, but have never done one.....

Waving hello to all!

Shelly

Shelly, I am being good today..wink. Thanks for the details on the store..thankfully it’s where you live and postage would be horrendous. I pay $11 per distress inks pad...$8 for reinkers.  TH stamps vary from $33 -52....ouch. I like Kaisercraft stamps at $10 and just as good. They have nice collage stamps.

I still have to comment on DTGD and will do a few each day.  I think with challenges now a lot of people are FaceTiming or zooming together so not many go on to chat on the thread other than to say hi and check the challenges. Last year I was chatting and buzzing in and out.  I also think the challenges were easier and As you say low key but I preferred them. I did miss the fun chat but maybe I needed to post a photo of my craft room and so someone could find something in it that shouldn’t be there lol.  Next year.

Thanks re tip on mg and K....I must add that to my shopping list.  I haven’t had a G&T for a couple of weeks..maybe that’s the problem. I’m back on my reds lol.

Sharon, congrats to your a DGD on passing her test too.

I will be doing an easy junk journal challenge on the MMJ thread sometime. I have to make another one for my friend. I haven’t used the small one I made but I did enjoy the process. The videos I follow are easy and one lady provides templates although she said they were free but when I pressed on the link it said all gone so I had to buy the template......only a couple of dollars so I didn’t mind. I also follow the Julie lady that Sharon mentioned too...you know me..watch all the videos but never do it lol.  That’s my problem at present...doing classes and watching videos and then I run out of time to create lol.

I have to mop my floors and then head to the supermarket as I won’t have time tomorrow morning. Isn’t today supposed to be a day of rest. It is for DH today..it’s his day and he had been spoilt this weekend which is lovely to see. He does so much for all of us, especially me.

Happy Labour Day weekend everyone.  Happy Sunday Jan.

I am jumping on here to say goodnight, but will comment a bit so I don't get behind.

Sally, I had no idea your hair was that long. It is/was gorgeous. Glad you are happy with it shorter.

Ann, said a prayer for your son. Keep us posted.

Shelly, I loved the challenges cause they were easy. I did not get around to making some of them, but still it was really fun for me this time. I made another card today with the sketch challenge that Susan (Rainy) had. That was a great sketch.

Kandie, that is too funny where your package came from. What did you get? Probably the farthest away for me is maybe Florida. Just going on memory and can't think what it was. Or maybe I am just hallucinating lol.

Jayne, I bought a balloon die at our lss which is Paper Rose. That is the only thing I have from Paper Rose I think.

Sheesh, another copic marker was dry when I went to use it today. That is two now. And I seriously have not used them all that much.

We went to friends for dinner tonight. We picked up sushi to take and they got their own sushi. Ate inside this time social distancing of course.  Then had a yummy fruit crisp with Coconut Ice Cream.

Tomorrow we are meeting another couple for a walk and then to visit a craft brewery for lunch.  I think I already mentioned that a page ago, lol.

Congrats to both of the newly licensed drivers!

Nighty night all!

Shirl

Jayne, according to the Ranger site, the cut and dry felt is for use with dye inks, so you should be able to use other than distress inks.

Morning, I would say I had a lazy day yesterday but only from painting, DIL bought GS and toy, he wanted me to watch him open it so we made that game last a couple of hours then After dinner I had to be the explorer again while he was a rock dragon! His dad was a water dragon and I had to find him and get the golden stick, I was exhausted by the time it was bath time, then he picked the longest book for me to read and interrupted all the way through it to tell me the story, it was quite funny,
We are painting the lounge today! GS is going shopping with his Mum , Only three days before freedom!!  But who’s counting, LoL

Good morning.  Here's something positive for y'all.

Well, for some reason, I can't insert the image, so just the text will have to suffice.

You have survived 100% of your bad days!

Have a wonderful day.

Good morning! We are in for a hot, hot, hot day! DH is off doing some stand up paddle boarding with a good friend of his. I'm so glad he has this opportunity...even if he did accidentally wake me up before he left. That's OK, I got up and walked the loop before it got too hot.

Ann, how is your son this morning?

Yikes, Shelly, and I thought it was bad that we have to get our vehicles smog checked every other year. Thankfully, the process isn't as expensive here as your state. It is just such a hassle. But our Camry and van are taken care of for this year and the Honda doesn't have to be smogged this year, thankfully.

Jan, woohoo, you are almost free!

Melody, that is a great positive thought and so true.

Well, I have more commenting to do so I should get to it. But first, coffee!

Hello everyone, have been MIA for a while, no reason, just doing other things I guess. I still like to concentrate on the daily challenges, I did a few DTGD besides my samples. Even though I'm retired and have plenty of time, the time still gets away from me. I still intend to create with the alphabet, I have some ideas brewing.
Today is my youngest granddaughter Mirren's 7th birthday. She and her older sister Clare will do virtual school for the first semester, at least; I sure wish they were in school but I totally get it. I feel badly for the lack of art, music, gym, drama (yes they have drama at their school)...guess they will have to create that themselves. Truthfully they do those things everyday.
I hope you are all well or getting over not being well. Jayne, I'm so sorry about your friend, i know that's very belated. We're starting to cool down a bit, we actually had rain last night. It's been a rather dry and hot summer, actually if you're a summer worshipper, you would have been very happy, except for the lack of places to go. I've been lucky, I've had access to two cottages in northern WI either rented or owned by family. We've distanced, worn masks, been careful, but I've been able to 'be elsewhere', not everyone has been so fortunate. May the force be with us this fall and winter.

Morning all!

Jean, nice to hear from you.

We have cloud right now and wind is expected. Hope it blows the clouds away so we can get some sun.

Melody that was a great positive thought you posted.

Jan, on your working holiday you are having fun with gs. We all want you to be able to get to a craft store, and with plenty of time to peruse stuff!

I know what Queen status is I think, but what is King status for the DTGD?

Have a great day everyone!

I was surprised but I know of at least four guys and I'm sure there are more. I'm just not sure any of them became Kings by doing all of the challenges.

Does anyone take fish oil? I've taken it for years, mostly for cholesterol control. Turns out it is an anticoagulant...I bruise very easily and I guess that's why.
Those stinging critters can be downright angry this time of year; please be careful. I know, sometimes it happens without even knowing you're near one.
Melody, thanks for that positivity. how true! I hope we all have more good days than bad days ahead.
I'm working on tomorrow's TLC, nice to be part of the team and know what's coming. I'm hoping it's also my U card.
Be well, safe and content, my friends.

The color of the sky outside is strange. I think there must be a lot of smoke blocking the sun which creates this color. And, unfortunately, I got an email from the power company warning us that they might be turning the power off tomorrow night and that it could be off through Wednesday...praying that doesn't happen!

Jean, I took fish oil for several years. Since my cholesterol was always high I just decided not to take it anymore. I never noticed bruising while on it.

Catherine, I heard there might be rolling black outs. Do you have a generator? At least it is warm out, but that's really no consolation. Praying that it doesn't go out, but if it does, it isn't long.

Linda, if there are site issues that have been reported, you should be able to find them HERE.

Linda, I haven't thought on it yet. Since you said it would be for DTGD I figured we had a year to get it figured out since DTGD is over this year. We'll get it figured out before then.

Kathy, yes, they are also talking rolling blackouts (they call them brownouts) because it is so hot that the electrical demand is extra high and they can't provide enough power for the demand. However, the notice I got today is for a public safety power shutoff (PSPS).

And no, we don't own a generator but my DH just left to, hopefully, go purchase one. We used a loaned one last fall. Apparently, however, we need to acquire our own. He got home from stand up paddle boarding and had a good time.

I'm thinking I'll never get done commenting on DTGD cards! There are so many, it is wonderful!

Linda, fish oil doesn't cause high cholesterol. It's just that since it didn't lower mine I decided it wasn't helping so why spend the money if it doesn't help.

We have a small generator. It has three places for plugs but only one is a normal plug! I did, however, find an adapter that fits into one of the odd ones to make it a normal plug! We bought the generator mainly so we could plug in the bullet heater in the winter if power goes out. We can run it under our home to keep pipes from freezing. But we will now be able to also keep the fridge going or a space heater in the house. I need to find an adapter for that third weird plug

This is what my plugs look like. The one to the far right takes a normal plug and the one in the middle is the one I found an adapter for

I am behind in posting but caught up on reading.

When I had my foot surgery I began to get terrible cramps in my toes.  The foot specialist told me to drink tonic water.  I keep a small bottle filled from the 2-liter I keep in the fridge, and it is on my nightstand.  I try to drink some every evening.  (Try...)

Shirl, I received a collage-type stamp from that distant place, and am still not sure it didn’t get flattened some by all the trucks that must have run over it, lol.

Thank goodness Indiana no long has the emissions testing.  I think there are a whole lot of souped-up muscle cars around here that would fail.

Jean, I used to take fish oil caps but quit because they made me burb the taste of fish!

But talk about bruising, this BP med is causing me to bruise all over.  I couldn’t understand why I have so many small round bruises on the tops of my legs.  DH pointed out that’s where Dusty jumps all over me.  Yes, they do resemble some small paw prints! (No they don’t, lol)

Kathy, DH is the perfect plan-ahead man.  He’s had a generator for years, and also a small back-up to that one.  As you said, we could plug in a heater and maybe keep the fridge cold, that’s about it.

Our governor announced the mask fine is now in effect.  Too many people wanted to party in this college town without taking precautions.  Anyone seen not only in businesses but out on the streets not wearing a mask will be subject to a 100$ fine.  I have seen so many wearing the masks under their nose, or even worse and totally ineffective, under their chins!

I whacked my forehead on a solid wood bookcase yesterday and nearly knocked myself out.  My eyesight was blurry, and I repeatedly walked into stuff and knocked stuff off tables afterwards.  DH said I had a mild concussion.  I looked in the mirror before bed and saw a dent in my forehead, all bruised!  It’s still dented today but not as deep.  Still sore to touch.  Thank goodness dizziness and blurry eyes are done!

Jayne, my Simon Says Stamp order tracking said my order reached this area at 7:52 am this morning and was on the way to its destination!  I’ve been so excited all day.  Now it’s 13 hours later, no package.  DH told me the area PO for our little town is not the one that is 20 minutes away!  It’s the one that is 1 and 1/2 hours away!  What????  So my box arrived in South Bend, 20 minutes from our house, and then has probably gone to Ft Wayne so far away, to be sorted and shipped back here to me.  Sometimes I just don’t understand why things are how they are, lol.

Jayne, just ask anyone on here who has read my DH’s comments over the last four years what a huge joker he is!  If he had to delete every friend’s name from my computer who enabled me, I would be talking to absolutely no one anymore!!!

In apology, he has offered to buy me the gelli plate so I can have fun for your MMJ challenge.  (Thumbs up!)

We are now the proud owners of a generator. Hurray! It was an ordeal to purchase it though because the store's system was down so cash purchases only.

I showed DH your plug photo, Kathy, and he said you should be able to find an adaptor for the one on the left. He said that plug is for industrial power equipment. He has a nail gun or something that uses that type of plug. It is called a NEMA L5-30 locking plug and a hardware store should be able to get an adaptor for you.

Still hoping we don't lose power - it is too hot! It is better for it to happen when it is cooler because we can heat with the wood stove. At least we have a generator though.

Kandie, I hope your Simon Says Stamp order arrives by tomorrow. DD2 had an order that she was tracking like crazy and it got stuck in Roseville, a town down the hill, for a number of days. She was so frustrated! But that was shipping via FedEx and I haven't had very good experiences with them, surprisingly.

I'm so glad you were able to get a generator! I thought they might be scarce! Thank your DH for me. I will take that photo with me to the hardware store. The middle adaptor I found at a thrift store. I've had it for nearly a year because DH said it wouldn't fit but the other day I took it out to the shed and he plugged it right in!

Catherine, I sure hope it shows up tomorrow!  Although tomorrow is Labor Day, so no mail, but the order was sent Priority, and I have seen the mail trucks out on days when the post office has been closed.  Hoping!!!

Yay, Catherine on getting a generator at least. Praying your power does not go off but good to have one.

I take fish oils. I get the kind that rarely repeat on me. I have always bruised easily. Don't think it is related to the fish oils for me.

Fedex is weird. We see notices that they have put on our glass doors in the lobby and a lot of the time, they have not put a suite number on the notice.

We are now getting deliveries from UPS but subcontracted to other delivery vans which are all white in color. UPS can apparently no longer guarantee delivery on the day they tell you they are coming.

We really had fun today. Did a 3 km walk and then had vegan tacos which were awesome.
