Gracie, so cool to meet Lori. Hope your get good results.

We had a fun, sad and busy weekend. A long weekend here and are about to head out again today.

Happy day everyone. I need to keep moving.

Good morning and happy Monday already.

DH announced he was going to the casino for a couple of hours yesterday. There went my energy to clean house. I plopped down on the couch with Dusty dog and together we watched three hours of Amazon Prime’s Midsomer Murders. Obviously nothing else got done yesterday, since by the time DH got home I was totally out of the mood, lol.

Now I’m sitting here, looking at all the stuff to do that I should have gotten done yesterday!

Three days ago we had 5 inches of snow. Yesterday the temps hit 42 and the snow began to melt. Last night it poured, and today there is no sign of snow, but I sure have a doozy of a sinus headache from the rapid temp changes.

I hope everyone will have a wonderful day. I’m going to browse the Monday card challenges and see if I can jumpstart my creative brain center into some action. Take care, everyone.

Morning!!

I've got some things done already today! Sheets changed and one bathroom cleaned except for the floor.

Now I had better eat or I'll be sick!

Kandie, some days you just need to sit and relax with your dog! Good work, stuff can wait!

I'm behind on some cards but ahead for VSN! LOL! Well something has to give!

Hello to all and have a good crafty day!

Good morning!

Kandie, I wasn't terribly productive yesterday either and I needed to be! It is one of my few days where I can get stuff done. Instead, I ran through a Jack Dalton marathon of the original MacGyver series. We own the first four seasons on DVD and I watched as many Jack Dalton episodes as we own. While doing that, I created a card for last Friday's mix challenge and the featured stamper. It was fun pretending I do mixed media. It is amazing the time it takes to create some of those panels. I think I need more colors of acrylic paint.

Ann, do you want to come scour my house when you get done there? I know, house cleaning is never done...

Good morning ladies.

Catherine, of course you do mixed media. I think we probably all do and don't even realize it, because our concept of what is mixed media is that it has to be messy, and that is not true at all. If you add ribbon, a bit of fabric or burlap, a button, a brad or an eyelet, paint, or gesso, etc., it IS mixed media.

Good morning!

Ann, I'm with Catherine, I could use a cleaning whiz like you at my house! Crafting or cleaning??? Crafting always wins out! LOL

I agree with you Melody, we all are mixed media artists...everyone has their own style.

Kandie and Catherine, we all need days to just relax and enjoy the moment. Good for you! My BIL and SIL came over yesterday. We went hiking, we showed them around town and they got to see my mural paintings. Then, we all went out for wood-fired pizza and wine and celebrated my & DH's 14th anniversary! Such a perfect day!

The ENT Dr. called me with MRI results: good news...bad news day! It isn't a tumor, they don't know what caused the nerve damage and sudden onset hearing loss in my right ear, but about 5,000 people a year have this in the U.S. Weird. I guess I'll adjust to it eventually. A bit annoying but thank goodness it wasn't my eye sight!

Have a great day all! Hugs!

Just popping in to say hi...just got back again from a trip to CA to visit my Mom with my daughter and my newest granddaughter, Evie, now 3-2/2 mod. old. A 4th generation visit!!! Also so good to see my sister looking so much better than when I left her in January...after her end-of-December cancer surgery.

Unfortunately, while away DHs youngest brother passed away..heart attack. E.G. left this morning...driving...for funeral I couldn't go as daughter returns to work this Monday for first time after Evie born...I'm on board for bsbysitting.

Just get so many things caught up on after being gone all of January with sister's surgery/ recovery help and then a week later with another trip driving down for 4-generation visit.

Garage sorting to find DDs baptism gown I made many years ago

Seems I just accept I'll never catch up on chatter, SCS, or card needs...need a sympathy are right now and two grand-daughter BD cards for 3/7 & 9!! A son BD card for 3/6....YIKES..bye everyone...be well.

Loved that article Melody...for A me to a tee!!

When is VSN??? Fun you and Ann hostessing!!

What a busy day at work! Hit the ground running as they were setting up for the two voting precincts that use our church building for voting. Tomorrow is voting day in CA. I'm the only one in at the beginning of the day (unless a pastor happens to be there) and the two rooms that they use were not prepared for them. So I put things down and went to work moving tables and chairs so they could set up the rooms the way they wanted them for tomorrow. So much for the project I was hoping to work on!

Ann, I used to regularly go through my cupboards and cabinets cleaning and re-arranging things and purging items we don't use. Somehow, since DD1 was born, I don't make the time to do that like I should!

Melody, you are correct. I guess I should say I had fun pretending I do the messy style of mixed media. I really like how the card turned out, it is definitely a stretch for me though.

Happy anniversary, Gracie! Yay that it isn't a tumor, how special you are to be in the group of 5,000. I know, not a group you wanted to join. Still, thankful it isn't a tumor!

Carlene! So nice to see you pop in. Goodness, you are one super busy lady! Sorry for the loss of your brother-in-law.

I have an adorable dog wanting my attention, so I guess I'd better go.

Hi Catherine! Sounds like you are going to be busy at work again tomorrow! Keeps you out of trouble! LOL

Carlene, what a busy couple of months for you! I'm sorry to hear about the death of your BIL. It was so nice you could visit your mom, DD and GD. Thankful that your sister is doing much better.

I spent the day thrift shopping with my SIL. Fun day. Then, SIL, DB, DH and I went out for dinner at a Mexican restaurant. I'm going to get fat with them visiting Arizona all month long! LOL We have so many sightseeing plans! My son, DIL and 3 granddaughters arrive on Wed. night. It's good I'm keeping busy, it keeps my mind off my ear! It's going to take awhile to get used to this.

I'm heading to bed and hoping to make some cards tomorrow morning. Hugs to all!

Gracie so happy that you received good news and that it’s nothing sinister but bummer that you’ve had to join a group of 5k where this happens. I hope your hearing returns and soon. Enjoy time with your rellies. Happy belated anniversary....whoohoo.

Catherine hope you get some quiet time at work although it sounds as though you are going to be busy.

I agree with Melody, we all do some form of mixed media. Some messier than others *wink* lol

Ann, I can relate to you and your cupboards.

Hi Carlene...good to see you pop on. Sorry to hear the sad news of your BIL’s passing.

Hello to everyone else...have fun. I had plans to create but not a lot of creating has occurred this end. Tomorrow’s plans lol.

Good morning. Gracie, I’m glad your ear news was good, but sad of the group of which you have become a member. What about a hearing aid? Would that help or not, since it is nerve damage?

I love mixed media! To me, a mixed media project involves opening every drawer with junk in it for something to add and seeing how crazy I can get with stamping, lol.

Carlene, I’m so sorry to hear about your BIL.

We had an errand day yesterday. I had an Amazon return to take to Kohl’s, this store returns items for free and also gives out a 25% off coupon for every return, plus I had $10 in store cash to spend, so DH went to the men’s department and I went to the women’s. There was a gorgeous spring purse on sale that was calling my name, and some tshirts for me, and DH decided to buy his entire spring wardrobe at one time. Since eating healthy with me, he has lost so much weight that nothing fits. We did have shopping fun!

Then a surprise visit to HL, gosh, I haven’t been there in months. I bought some Easter stuff and a new clock for the bathroom. Does anyone else have a clock in their bathroom? I got in that habit when I worked, because my hair was always the last thing I did before leaving and I wanted to make sure I didn’t leave late.

Lunch from Chick-fil-a, and home to relax and watch some tv.

Today I have GOT to get stuff done around here. And less than two weeks to finish that baby blanket!

The CAS challenge for yesterday looks like fun. I have some ideas...

I have always had a clock in my bathroom. Don't want anyone being late. I'm thankful you ladies are keeping the chatter going. I don't feel much like talking, but your chatter helps me a lot.

Morning!

Carlene, so sorry to hear about your BIL. Glad to hear from you though and to read your updates on family.

Hi Kathy, thinking of you and hoping each day is better!

Catherine, I was thinking of you as I was cleaning out cupboards! I saw my bread maker and want to make bread!

Wondered if you would share your recipe for the bread you make or anyone else that has a good white bread and oatmeal bread!

Off to finish cleaning, there are a few odds and ends that I still have not put away. Needless to say my muscles are sore today!

Cleaning and then hopefully card making if I have the energy!

Good morning! It is warming up this week, but should be cooling down this weekend and possibly more rain. It is voting day today in California so we'll have two precincts at the church today, plus a homeschooling group that meets there on Tuesdays. It will probably be a little noisy today.

Gracie, I don't think that will be enough to keep me out of trouble, lol! I'm gifted at getting into trouble!

Enjoy your relatives being there...hmmm, you need to come up with some active things to do to counter all the good food!

Jayne, I hope you get back into your craft room today and have some crafty fun.

Kandie, it sounds like a busy errand day yesterday. Glad it was so successful. I don't have a clock in my bathroom but I have my cell phone with me. Since we don't have a landline, I try to keep my phone with me more than I ever have in the past because it is the only way my family can reach me if they need me when I'm home and they aren't.

Glad our chatter helps you, Kathy. Sending hugs!

Are any of you working on your crafting PHD? Projects Half Done? That's my funny for you today.

Good morning Jayne, Kandie, Kathy and Ann; and anyone else peeking in!

Sending positive vibes and hugs to you Kathy!

Kandie, sounds like you had a fun day yesterday! You'll have to get crackin' on that baby blanket now! LOL

Ann, I never did buy a bread maker because I love breads. I'd probably be making it every day! I make caramel rolls every couple weeks and I could eat the whole pan! Yum!

Kandie and Jayne, my hearing loss is permanent. I had a "poor me" night where I woke at 2 a.m. and didn't get back to sleep until 5:30 a.m. I got up and read everything I could on hearing loss. I have to talk to audiologist but I think I can get one hearing aid for that ear to help the constant buzzing in right ear. Still so thankful, it is not my eyes or my hands like poor, dear Sharon!

Hugs all!

Hi Catherine, I guess I was typing as you were posting, too! Have a good day and you'd better wear ear protection with all the noise at work today! LOL

Love the PHD question...definitely part of my daily program!

Ann, this is the bread recipe I use. I got it from Food.com, but made some changes to work for me.

Potato
Bread
(medium loaf – bread
machine)

Ingredients:

3 cups
bread flour

½ cup
potato flakes

teaspoons salt

Tablespoons dry milk

Tablespoons butter

Tablespoons sugar

cups water

teaspoons active dry yeast

Directions:

Add
all ingredients to bread machine in order listed, or as recommended
by your bread machine.

Select
desired settings & press start.

Note: This is the only recipe I use and it's really good. I've done this on both regular and rapid bake (extra tsp. yeast for rapid bake). I usually use rapid bake because I'm in a hurry to eat it. After I slice it, I put slices in gladware containers with waxed paper in between and freeze. Then I pull out one slice and either microwave or toast it, and it's like fresh bread.

If you need it to be allergy free, you may need to make some changes in ingredients. Sorry, I can't help you with that, 'cause I'm not allergic to anything.

Gracie, my hands are healing, so not a permanent thing. I am happy, it was not a tumor, but so sorry for the hearing loss. I suspect both DH and I are hard of hearing. Neither one of us will admit it though.

I couldn’t get on here for a while; it said error and was only going as far as Chicago, both on my iPad, and laptop! But all is good now!

So sorry Carlene for the loss of your BIL. What a thing to come back to.

Kathy, good to see you checking in. Prayers and hugs dear.

Clocks: Four different times in my 30 year banking career, I was given clocks for some occasion or other. So, we have one in each bathroom, and my craft room, I have to change them, because DH refuses to. He just said today, that our main bathroom clock will be right again in a few days! LOL. Guess who didn’t change it last time.

Bread maker: I won one ar work for a contest. Tried to use it, but bread always failed and was too hard. Sold it many years ago at a garage sale!

I am waiting (in my craft room) to watch a Totally Tiffany class at noon. It will be on Memento Organization & project planning. As I am trying to print off photos for retreat in late March, I am interested. And next week’s class is on travel organization. Perfect for me. I don’t buy her products , just get ideas how to use what I already have.

Almost time to do another round of PT. My whole day is built around theses 4 times and it takes about 22 minutes. I do it 4 times a day, and there 8 exercises or stretches to do for each hand. ( and hold each for count of ten) Everyday I can tell I am more flexible! I still can’t squeeze a fist, but it is coming! Next come strength PT.

Catherine, I love PHD! I have lots of those. One good thing, when we moved and downsized ( well kind of) I gave all my fabric, half done quilts, except for one, and all the books on how to do sewing projects, cross stitch patterns, all that away. I feel relieved! I had moved some of that in our previous move 20 years ago. So now at least all I have are my paper crafts that are PHD!

Ann, instant potato flakes - potato buds (Betty Crocker) is what I have & bread's the only thing I use them for.

Powdered milk - usually the store brand - great value (walmart) or whatever is cheapest. The original recipe used 3/4 cup milk or 3/4 cup soymilk.

Original recipe also used 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil or canola oil instead of butter.

And only 1 Tablespoon sugar and 2 teaspoons active dry yeast.

It was for a 1-1/2 pound loaf.

I adjusted the amounts according to other recipes in my bread machine book for a medium size loaf, since I'm the only one who eats it.

Ann, you could probably also use regular mashed potatoes, but would need to figure out how much 1/2 cup of flakes makes. If you did that, I'm not sure if you'd need to adjust the water as well, or not. The flakes are easy, so that's what I use.

Ann, here is the recipe I use for bread. It is my mom's recipe.

6 c flour (I usually put in 4 c whole wheat and 2 c white but you could use all white)
4 T sugar
2 T yeast
2 c + 4 T warm water
2 T olive oil
3 t salt

I put the sugar in, then the water, let the sugar dissolve, and then add the yeast. I let the yeast proof, then put in the olive oil (which I don't really measure, I just pour some in), flour and salt. I use my KitchenAid to mix it up, then divide it into two loaves and let it rise. I bake at 375 degrees for 25 minutes.

I don't use a bread machine, we have worn out two bread machines and when we got the KitchenAid, I started using that to mix it. That way my loaves are the normal shape with no holes in the bottom!

My mom used to make 6 loaves of wheat, 6 loaves of white, and, on a good day, she'd make a pan of cinnamon rolls. We had a freezer in the basement and would freeze most of our loaves and just pull them out as we needed them.

One of the things I like about this recipe is that it doesn't include any milk product. DH has a brother-in-law who has a severe allergy to milk and milk products so he can't eat most commercially baked bread because of that.

Yum to caramel rolls, Gracie. That sounds so delicious!

It was good at work, the pastor felt like he needed to walk and it was lovely outside so we had a walking staff meeting outside. That helped me get 10,000 steps before I even left work!

Melody, potato bread sounds delicious too! I'll have to try your recipe.

I hope you learned some good tips in your Totally Tiffany class, Sharon.

Hello everyone...yay Kathy is here...missed you and sending you lots of hugs. I hope whatever is troubling you is easing.

We had a bread maker until about 2 months ago and took it to the charity shop. We hadn’t used it in 8 years. I love the smell of freshly cooked bread but I’m with Gracie, I eat and eat it loaded with dollops of butter. It does nothing for my hips so that baby had to go lol, plus neither of us wanted to make it anymore. It cost us more in ingredients than going to the local bakery lol. Enjoy ladies...they do sound yummy.

Gracie, I think I will end up with an hearing aid. My sister has them. My mum was deaf in one ear and everyone tells me I’ve been deaf for years except the Dr. The main thing is that you will hear again and it’s nothing bad. Hugs

I hope to create later. It’s grooming day..I’m going to be shorn, then I need some embroidery thread for my journals as the string was ok but a little too thick. I have no idea how to post a video and if anyone wants to hear my twang or see my journal pages, email me. I can’t even send it through here or PMs. Tips welcomed.

See you all later

Oh, but Jayne, the bread from the store just isn't the same as homemade.

Ann, sounds like if you use Catherine's recipe, just cut it in half for the bread machine.

Good idea, Melody! Can't wait to make both recipes, yours and Catherines!

Thank you Catherine for the recipe, and I am allergic to dairy so this will be fantastic for me!!

My sons want fresh bread and since it's number 5 son's birthday this week, I said I would make him some along with all his other requests for food! I'm going to be tired. He wants prime rib and mashed potatoes, chocolate eclairs - home made, and of course his rice krispie peanut butter chocolate bars!

Can not complain he just bought me a new scanner!! He's the baby too!

Default Hello

I spent a while catching up on chatter- lots of great chattrer too! We just sold our breadmaker, we did not use it enough. With just two of us here, we do not eat enough bread to keep the breadmaker.
Catherine- you had a busy day! Great job on the steps!

I have Fibromyalgia, and woke up at noon- yikes! I went to be early enough to expect to wake up for my 9AM bible study...... My fingers are all swollen up and I ache all over. I took an Aleve, went to piano and then grocery shopping. Made a delicious dinner and then off to Bible study #2 tonight. While out shopping, I looked for hand sanitizer for our trip next weekend...NO hand sanitizer anywhere- stopped at 4 different places. We are going to Virginia via DC to see our youngest. I am a bit nervous to fly, but.....Oh well.....

I have been adding family to Ancestry since I added the International data. My husbands side has tons of hits on records (and way better than the Irish records), my side less records and tree 'hints'. Once I sign in, I cannot stop! I have alot of German records from the LDS library microfilm- all of the way back to the 1700's..... I am fascinated by the relationships!

Gracie- yeah for no tumor, and sorry to hear your hearing loss is happening. And, enjoy your company!

Waving hello to all!
Shelly

Catherine, do you use bread flour or just all purpose?

Good morning, ladies. It’s raining and snowing here, with sun to show up around noon, and up to 60 next week. Straight to the medicine cabinet this morning for my Zyrtec-D, naturally.

Kathy, we are all here for you, and I’m so glad you are feeling up to reading the chatter and commenting.

Catherine, PHD! I laughed out loud! I have a crocheted shrug (half of one) staring at me every day, as it’s in a basket under one of the end tables, lol.

Gracie, I sat myself down to do five rows on that baby blanket and then clean a room. I got in 10 rows and cleaned the kitchen and living room and vacuumed. I set the project down when the dryer went off, and came back upstairs to find Dusty dog trying to make a bed out of My project!!! Yikes!! I yelled NO and she FLEW across the couch, lol. She is jealous of me doing anything other than petting her, and often tries to sit on whatever I’m doing. Twenty more rows and then I can do the border all the way around.

Sharon, I have a bread maker, and several bread cookbooks, a special rack and knife for slicing even slices, and a clear container for storing the bread. I love to make blueberry, cinnamon, and apple breads in the warm weather. However, since I’ve cut down on a lot of foods, I now don’t eat bread at all. So there sits all my equipment, and I totally refuse to get rid of all of it!

Shelly, gosh I hate fibromyalgia. I feel for you! . And regarding ancestors, it’s true, once I get on the sites I can’t get off for hours!

Today is final eye checkup day, and I have to get them dilated, so I’m not looking forward to the lost day of getting anything done. Last time it took over 24 hours to go away.
