Kathy, I don't know if I thanked everyone either. It gets so hectic at Christmas time! I loved all the cards...so thanks to everyone!

I'm glad you are resting, Ann. Sorry you are so sick and glad you didn't have to go in to get your prescription. Praying you feel better soon!

I'm concerned, as well, with the over use of antibiotics and bugs resistant to them. I had a LOT of penicillin when I was in my late teens and early twenties due to regular bouts of tonsillitis.

Oops, the family needs me, must run.

Thinking of Sharon and all of you ladies who are sick. Hope everyone is improving. Hugs

I received cards yesterday from Kathy and Catherine..thank you ladies. Lovely surprises. I can’t remember who I sent cards to now lol. I ran out of time and cards but know you were all in my thoughts. I ended up posting one for all SCS friends on Ann’s Xmas card thread.

My SIL and hubby are about to arrive for lunch....I’m ready even though I could just lie down on the couch and sleep. I woke early and couldn’t get back to sleep.

Happy day and Friday everyone.

Good morning and happy Friday and the 3rd of January already. We watched a lot of Netflix last evening because so many college football games were on the regular channels, and I think we missed the beginning episode of The Deputy. Did anyone watch it?

Kathy, you will relate to this. DH is especially fond of dark chocolate and recently discovered dark chocolate Kisses. Now there isn’t a day where there isn’t a bag on the kitchen counter, and also not a day when I don’t find stray little white kiss tags somewhere on the floor, lol.

Sharon, continuing prayers for your surgery recovery.

Hello, Shelly, and welcome back home!

Hi Dagmar, and all the best to you as well in this new year!

Ann, I never go to the doctor until I’m totally miserable and weeks have gone by, so my doctor says how long has this been going on, and then prescribes medication. I sure hope your medication works. My DSM has been coughing and hacking, and her doctor put her on azithromycin and steroids. She’s been weeks trying everything as well.

I’m still having bad moments of extreme headaches and coughing but I know by the location of the headache that it’s all weather-related. Yesterday it got up to 43 and today is predicted for snow, and I ache from my fingertips to my toes. Sir Arthur Itis is in the house, lol. I wished he’d go away and stay away!

Today’s F4A challenge is to do a thank-you card for something specifically received for Christmas, which is terrific, because I wanted to make my DD2 a card anyway thanking her for my new jammies!

Good morning Kandie! That is a good one...a cartoon of you and Dusty! LOL We watched The Deputy last night. I'm not sure about it yet. Kind of different...it takes place in California. My DH thought it was "liberal" propaganda! LOL It wasn't what I expected. Kandie, I can relate to the Sir Art and your headaches related to the changes in weather. I have that same thing when I'm back in Wisconsin. I feel so much better in Arizona. I made a couple cards yesterday. I think I'll go check out the challenges.

Have a great day all!

Good morning! Sunny but cool here this morning...and the fire is out...and I'm terrible at starting fires...uh-oh.

Kandie, I am like you about going to the doctor. As a matter of fact, if I get anything serious, I'll probably die from it. I realize from the conversation on the thread, that I have had sinus infections in the past. I got a number of them when we moved to southern California, but never went to the doctor.

That's a cute funny this morning...though I'd have to have jammies in order to stay in them all day.

Gracie, your DH is probably right about the TV show! It is interesting, when I have re-watched old TV shows with my girls, I have picked up on propaganda in the show that I totally missed when I was a kid.

I got a scary email today from the library...telling me that my membership will expire in ten days...yikes, I better get in there and fix that!

Kandie, I always said I wish they would make kisses that you didn't have to unwrap. But I know if they did they would probably melt together. But oh what a chore to unwrap each one.

Catherine, I just renewed my library card a month or two ago. I hardly ever use it

The library is my source for most of my reading material. My girls like buying books...I don't like packing and moving books so prefer to utilize the library!

I have always loved books, but its like crafts. I buy them more than actually use them! DS got me Mitch alboms latest book last Christmas, 2018, and I still haven't read it. I guess I'll put that on my resolution list for the new year. It's getting rather long. I can't get rid of that silly smilie! He appeared when I typed the 8 and parenthesis!

Not sure I believe that, Kathy. I think you use your crafts a lot! I haven't read anything by Mitch Alboms.

As for resolutions, I don't make them. I just try to make improvements whenever. I should probably be more organized about it.

I've read a couple of his books. Five People You Meet in Heaven was good, and then they made a movie. He also wrote Tuesdays with Morrie, but I only saw the movie. I read Have a Little Faith, For One More Day, The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto a d I think The Time Keeper but I'd need to re read them because I don't remember them. This new one is called The Next Person You Meet in Heaven.

Kathy, I was typing something yesterday and got that smiley face instead of a paranthese too! Internet gremlins?

Just back from a walk. It is very mild where we live. Took off my hat and gloves while walking. I just did the math and it translates to 55.4 F. Supposed to be rain coming though.

Catherine, I don't make resolutions either. Never have. Wonder where that custom started?

I have not read any Mitch Albom's books, but I do love books and I had to laugh at your remark Kathy.....I buy them more than use them-like crafts, lol...

We are going over to see the two new kitties my step son and family just acquired. The pics they have sent us have been adorable.

Off to make some lunch!

normally I don't make resolutions but if I expect things to change I need a concrete list to remind me.

I don't really make New Year's resolutions either. I prefer to give my self a goal to accomplish something every day...that way I can feel good at the end of the day. I don't like to feel like I failed...so they are pretty doable goals! LOL

I love reading! I have a whole set of John Sanders' books that my dad collected and read. So I read a book on my tablet at night because I can read in bed without disturbing the hubby. Then, during the day, if I read, I like the "real thing" and will read one of my Dad's books. He was a voracious reader before he got Alzheimers. The librarians would even call him when something came in that they thought he'd like.

Well, I have to go make a couple of birthday cards...

Do you ladies remember several days ago when that young man came to our home crying and I called our local 9-1-1 and had such trouble with getting them to do something? The day before yesterday the roads were very icy, and there was an accident through a retail area that has decorative rather deep ponds on both sides of the road where a woman in a minivan missed a curve and went into a pond. Our same 9-1-1 was called. They apparently couldn’t figure out the location and were going to send a truck to the wrong place, and then, in the recording, the dispatcher is heard telling the one fire department to ignore the call, that a different truck would handle it.

Two little children in the van drowned, and the remaining mother and child are in critical condition. The time lapse from the time of the call to when help actually arrived was too long. People are up in arms over the dysfunction of the department and are calling for an investigation into the delay in helping people.

Oh Kandie, how sad! I think more training is needed!

Two days ago a 21 year old died about two miles from my place. He was traveling at a high rate of speed and crossed the lane and hit the guide rail. His 19 year old friend is still alive, I think. My niece graduated with the 21 year old.

Oh, Kandie, that is heartbreaking....

Back from seeing the adorable kittens. 10 weeks old. Orange is the brother and gray one is the sister. They are rescues from a Saskatchewan Indian Reserve. A woman has a program called Worthy Claws and she brings them out here to get them adopted.

That is so sad, Kandie. That poor family. I hope the 911 center gets the training or staffing that they need to prevent this.

Gracie, I prefer to read an actual book but I do have the Kindle app on my phone so if I get caught somewhere where I have to wait or something, I have books with me. I probably look like everyone else who is so attached to their phones though I'm not. I just have more books I want to read than time to read them in.

Shirl, how old are the kittens? Wesley has really settled down and grown quickly. I was going through my photos on my phone to delete the photos of Michaels or Hobby Lobby coupons and came across a photo of Wesley shortly after we got her. She was so little! And now, only a few months later, she is big!

Kandie, I hate icy roads! What horrific tragedy!

I love both cats and dogs, but we just have 2 dogs now. I had 3 cats when I met Tom and he had one dog. My cats have all passed away. I miss their mischievousness and snuggles.

Kathy, I think it's going to be awhile before you're fishing unless it's ice fishing!

Good morning and happy Saturday.

Update on the car that slid into the water: apparently the call center’s mapping program sent the fire trucks to the wrong address. A spokesperson said this happens about 4 times a month. The call center and its dispatchers are now under investigation.

Did you hear the news story about the thousand paper cranes sent to Alex Trebek of Jeopardy to support him in his cancer struggle? Students made them for him, they had read somewhere about the healing power of cranes. Isn’t that so sweet?

New Year’s resolutions? What are those? . I used to make them when I was younger but I don’t anymore. I also decide to make changes slowly and don’t try to set a date to finish them or make some outlandish decision I can’t keep. I’m still working on weight loss. I’m at 11 pounds so far, although I got derailed a bit by all the sweets during the holidays. They are now gone (I ate half of them, lol) (to help get rid of them quicker, you understand) so I’m back to eating healthy once more.

Kittens? I love kittens, but the one I had once kept climbing up my lace curtains, so they no longer hold any interest for me. Puppies, on the other hand... and all the dogs at humane centers. I could adopt them all with no problem.

Good morning. I have pumpkin bread baking in the oven, and then I'm off to my sister's for lunch. My younger brother and his wife are also going to be there.

DH was planning on taking the tree down this weekend, but last night asked if I'd like to keep it up longer. Fine with me.

Melody, the pumpkin bread sounds yummy. Enjoy your visit.

Kathy, do you have to renew your fishing license every year?

Catherine, the kittens were born Oct. 17th. They looked pretty tiny when we saw them irl. In the pictures they had emailed us, they looked bigger. Guess the camera really does add 10 pounds, lol...Barb said they just weighed about 2 + pounds right now.

Ann and Dagmar are you feeling better?

Jayne I hope you are keeping safe? We are just horrified for you all watching our news.

Kandie, that is impressive about the 11 pounds loss. Wish I could say the same, but I am still eating baking from Christmas!

Hi Gracie! Linda, Victoria and Sharon. My left wrist sure feels achy lately. Must be in sympathy for Sharon.

Off to get a haircut today. Partially sunny which is so nice.

Shirl, you have choices on license renewals. You can get one year, 3 year, 5 year, and 10 year license. Its easier on my budget to buy a one year plus trout permit for $32.80 than a ten year plus trout for $293.80! And who knows if I'll be fishing ten years.

Went to card class today but didn't get a Christmas present! The woman who had my name only came for a minute, didn't get out of the car because her ankle is in a cast and I think she totally forgot about the name draws! The lady who had her name sent her gift home with her and I had presents for everyone so I sent mine too. I'm thinking she may get home and open hers and then realize she forgot! The other girls see her at quilting and I have no doubt they will be checking on it! Just made for a gloomy day, but at least the other girls weren't disappointed. And our party had yummy treats!

Good afternoon all!

Kandie, what a darling picture of that white cat and her human! Are you and DH feeling better? Hope so. Lots of sad stories in the news. Hopefully, the call center gets fixed or the people retrained!

Melody, hope you enjoyed your lunch. Mmmm, I can almost smell that pumpkin bread.

Shirl I found that die you were looking for they have a newer die with the same name, but the old die is available on EBay and some other places. I PM'd you info.

Kathy, do they have reduced cost licenses for seniors? If not, they should.

Well, I'm going to meet with the Pres. of local art group. She wants me to teach classes to home school kids. We will talk about when, where and the pay.

Ann, Shirl and Sis, hope you're feeling better in my thoughts and prayers.

Jayne, I can't believe the devastation in Australia. So very sad.

Kathy, well, that was a bummer! You would have thought it would have dawned on her when she was given a gift. Weird.

I make new years resolutions to get me motivated. If I don't evaluate and at least try, nothing will change. I made this saying up and use it often. I say " if you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you already got!" Grammar is atrocious but you get my drift.

Senior licenses are available at 65 so I've got a little more than. Two years to go. They are about $11 cheaper for the regular license. They have a senior lifetime for $51.90, which is good but you need to purchase the trout stamp each year for $9.90. I don't do much trout fishing, so maybe I will go the lifetime one when I turn 65. Since my birthday is in march and I don't usually fish before then, I should be able to get it the year I turn 65.

Hello Ladies!

First, I want to thank everyone for the beautiful Christmas cards I received. Unfortunately, I was so busy and focused on my Mom that I did not send out a single Christmas card this year. My box of Christmas cards is full, but I just didn't have the time or energy to address them. I will do my best to send a PM to each of you who sent me a card so you will know that I did receive it.

Second, I thank all of you for being so kind with your comments on my cards. I have had so little time to craft and the two cards I have made took forever because I felt so out of touch with everything. I was elated to read such wonderful comments.

Third, I just want all of you to know that I do keep all of you in prayer daily. I do hope and pray that 2020 will be a brighter, healthier, and prosperous year for all of US!

Last, RESOLUTIONS: I decided years ago to give up on all of those resolutions that I usually broke within a week. Lose, weight, exercise, eat healthy, etc... So, I decided to resolve my effect on others...although this type of resolution is still difficult to keep going, I found that I can keep it going longer. These have included things like make someone laugh or smile each day. Compliment one person daily. Physically help someone today. Say hello to a stranger everyday etc...
