Ann sorry you got bombed by juice bottles....you're starting to sound like me. Oh no! I stopped to pick up acrylic paint at Walmart and didn't realize the bottle had a hole in bottom and got paint on my hands and shirt. So I went into fabrics and the clerk gave me paper towel and we picked another one and I was almost to checkout and that one had a hole in it too. Now all over my hands and coat too! Sheesh!

Hi everyone! Is today boo-boo day?

Ann, sorry to hear about the juice bombarding you from the closet. I hope you don't have a concussion, I'm glad your son was there to keep tabs on you and yes, thankful the juice didn't open and make a huge mess. I'm sure you'll have some lovely color there though.

Gracie, yikes, I sure hope you can get that paint off your shirt and jacket!

Shelly, my DH is definitely in the age range where, if he was laid off, I think it would be hard for him to get another job. I hope you are feeling better at this end of the day.

Kathy, I don't know if I'll make it to do today's tutorial. I don't think I have a Christmas ornament to decorate. I wonder why they said matte finish, I don't think I've noticed those in stores.

How are you doing, Shirl?

Ouch Ann! Thank goodness it wasn't a glass bottle!

I'm soaking shirt and coat. I tried getting it out and some came out but not all of it. Aqua color on a pink shirt and coat!

All because I wanted to try to make ornament. Lol I couldn't find black gesso....I wonder if I could add black to my clear gesso...I'll have to experiment.

Hi Catherine and Shirl.

Gracie, I don't have black gesso, but figured I would just paint black paint over the white gesso. I haven't started that yet. And my ornament is not matte finish either. I'm hoping that won't matter. I think this project could also be done using a paper mache ball ornament. Or even pilfer one from your tree decorations. This would be a great way to 'fix' an old ornament that the finish is coming off.

Ornament - I used regular glass ornaments, not matte!

Yes, you can add black acrylic paint to clear gesso for this challenge! Or just use black paint.

The key that Lisa aka Shoe Girl found (and it worked better for me) is to thin down your gesso and gel medium. Mine was old and did not go on very smoothly.

The first ornament I did, I did not thin it down. Mine was old and it did not allow for a very smooth finish! But then again I was using very thick water color paper - 140 lb.

My other ornaments I used address labels! Doubled them and then they stuck easier as I applied the medium.

The container I made used the heavy weight water color paper - the big surface made it come out wonderfully!

I used white gesso and just added black acrylic paint to it.

I posted and then went to do something but would have suggested just trying black paint, Gracie. However, all the wonderful ladies here already have it covered!

Oh, Ann, I know what that dilation is like. Just have to wait till it wears off!

Catherine - I have spent the last two days cleaning and organizing and that felt great to get some of that done. Today, I went with a friend to go shoe shopping and go to a wonderful Christian bookstore. We ate lunch there too. At the shoe store, I got a pair of boots that are more like the material of gumboots. I have never been able to wear gumboots because my feet are so narrow. But the ones I got were a narrow fitting. I could hardly believe they fit so great. I usually have a hard time and always have to pay more for shoes etc. They are a shorter boot than a regular gumboot. They are made by a company called Lemon Jelly and they are infused with a lemon essential oil. They were not too pricey either, so I caved. Made in Portugal from recycled material I think. But they fit, and I just cannot get over that fact. yay! I can splash in the rain, now!

Shelly, I hope you get over that bug fast! And big congrats on the 15 pound loss!

I am behind on the chatter.....Got to go back and see Ann's house on the hill.

Good luck to all you doing the tutorials and challenges!

I'm glad you found boots to fit, Shirl! I wouldn't know anything about narrow feet as I am usually looking for wide width shoes. What color are they?

I am headed to bed, I got my D card done but haven't taken a photo yet.

Caller ID just showed "Inmate Call.". Certainly glad I can screen calls because that's one call I wouldn't want to answer. Honestly, don't these people know spoofing is illegal? And you can't answer and tell them that because you always get a recording. I answered once because it showed it was my number calling and I was curious to see what I wanted! LOL

If I told you I've been in these jammies for three days would that sound awful? I haven't had to go anywhere and have had a cold so all I've done is dishes, laundry and craft! After DS leaves for work I'm getting a shower and changing into clean...jammies!! LOL

This is this first cold in ages that I've had and haven't felt horrible! Its sinus, so just blowing my nose a lot and coughing. Its moving on, and I'm grateful.

An inmate call? Yikes? I get calls from all over Kansas with our area code, but they are someone with a foreign accent, usually about our computer. Yahoo. And Microsoft are always threatening to shut down our accounts! LOL

Kathy, I did get dressed to go out to eat yesterday afternoon, but mostly have been in my PJs since I got home from the retreat. #1 I just don’t feel like being dressed ( I have a cold, too and am constantly sneezing and coughing. #2 it is just warmer and cozier in my jammies.

When is Jayne coming back. I miss her, and Hawaiian.
Back to my mess of a craft room. I haven’t even started back to FF, yet! Several projects going. Also want to make cards to send to everyone that was at retreat.

And, I never said it, but saw your house photoAnn. Wow! That is like a Christmas card! Beautiful!

Good morning! I just uploaded my D card and have a few quick minutes to say hi.

Kathy, I was wondering about Kandie and her sister. I think, since Kandie hasn't been back on that her sister still isn't doing well.

Sorry to hear about your cold, glad it isn't making you miserable! By the way, I used scalloped circles and squares on my D card using the dies you gifted me, thank you!

As for spoof calls, my co-worker has been calling herself a lot these last few days - but she never leaves herself a message!

Oh Ann, I hope the dilation wears off quickly for you. I hate when they do that!

Sharon, sorry you have a cold too. Hope it goes quickly. I was also wondering about Jayne. Did she mention how long this trip was going to be?

Vickster has been uploading cards for Falliday. I need to get caught up on challenges and commenting!

Default Hello

Ouch Ann- hope you are not driving..... and that you are not on blood thinners.....

And, Gracie- that is terrible about the paint on your coat- hope it comes out!

The ornament is so gorgeous- I have to try that tutorial! I am not sure if I will get all of the cards made, but I love the challenges to USE my untouched stamps! and supplies.

I am feeling a touch better today. I stayed up until 2:30 last night- the creative bug bit me at about 11:00, so I went with it...... I did chores yesterday- they needed to be done, but I am so not fond of cleaning- I am really allergic to dust, so when I clean and stir it up I sneeze and cough...we had all wood floors installed and it is much better.

I have alot of my Mom's little stuff on the dining room table- I have trouble throwing them out, so working on clearing it off so I can make the next big mess : ) I saved some of her clothes and am making all of my siblings pillows with them for Christmas. I also saved some of her costume jewelry and will add a piece somehow to each pillow.

Have a great day!
Thanks for the tips about gesso for making the ornament !

Shelly

Finally found where Ann posted your house with snow! Lovely scene Ann, and I really like the style of your house! And all those lovely trees covered in snow.

I came on to post this which I found in a recent Woman's World's mag:

"At the first sniffle....Taking 1 tablespoon of liquid black elderberry extract four times daily at the first hint of illness helps 90% of women recover in 48 hours. Tip: A bottle of black elderberry will stay fresh at least two winters if you tuck it in your fridge."

Anyone tried this extract?

Sorry to those who already have colds and hope you feel better soon.

I am going to pick up some of this to have on hand just in case. We usually depend on a chinese medicine if we feel something coming on and it generally wipes it out, but I think I will also buy this at the health store if they have it.

We get all the crank calls too. A couple of times at very early in the morning and the recording is in chinese! The last one came from California I think. We are so not impressed.

Missing Kandie's funnies too!

Good evening,

Shirl, we heat the Elderberry juice, and drink it, if we get a cold.

Ann, sorry to hear about the juice bombarding you from the closet.

Those who already have colds, I hope you feel better soon.

Shelly , I hope you feel better.

Tomorrow the carpenters come, to repair a wooden beam in our house.

Good night all.

Gracie, you just had to show us that beautiful blue sky on your "Snowy Day" vellum card!! You are such a tease!

Eyes are slowly coming back to normal and no changes to my classes. However, I do have a small cyst on my right eye lid. Not anything to worry about, will watch it in the future.

Oh Ann, I hate issues with eyes. I hope that small cyst doesn't cause any problems. I'm still seeing black floaters since my horseshoe tear. But the flashes of light at night are not quite as annoying as they were.

Rachel Tessman posted a video with a card she calls Bay Window Card. The first one takes a while, but once you get it done, the second is truly a breeze! If you follow her tutorial, do NOT cut your paper until you watch it because she gives the wrong measurements and doesn't correct it at the beginning like some do. Its from a Facebook live. Its awesome!

Glad things went well with your eyes. Small cysts luckily can come and go, could just be a small irritation.

Sorry about the beautiful blue sky showing behind my card! LOL OK, not really, I'm so bad!😂

I've been working on the ornament tutorial. Slow process, because everything has to dry. I've gotten all the little bits attached and a layer of white gesso. I'm not sure if I need to add another layer of gesso or should go right to the paint. There seem to be some areas where the gesso really didn't cover the glass. And then I need to "decide" what colors to use - that's the hardest part!

Uh-oh, it looks like Gracie is being naughty again! Tsk-tsk, Gracie!

Shelly, I love the idea of you making pillows from your mom's clothes for your siblings. That is such a neat idea.

Yes, I agree the ornament is lovely...not sure what mine will look like if I get to it. I don't have an ornament yet. I'm pretty sure I had plain ornaments that I was going to do something with, but I got rid of them!

Shirl, I should get some black elderberry extract. That sounds like a great thing to have on hand, thanks for the tip.

Light burgundy sounds lovely! What a great find!

Kathy, love your bay window cards! I want a real bay window in this house but don't see that happening.

Catherine, if you have a ball ornament in your Christmas decorations that has seen better days, use it. I will have to check ours when we get them out, but not until after Thanksgiving. I had some clear ornaments that I had used a few with ink and glitter a long time ago, so I just used one of those. Not going to finish it tonight, though.

Morning!

Last challenges for Falliday Fest today! They are up!!

The ornament is fun but it is sure time consuming for drying! I bought new glass ornaments as I have gotten rid of so many of the old Christmas items!

I used a clear plastic ball ornament because I had bought four for the crystal ball tutorial and only needed three. As long as you give drying time, pretty much anything will work.

Ha ha! I just looked at the final tutorial and see I'm going to need another plastic ornament! LOL I get two for $1 uptown, so not too expensive. But I guess I better look at the tutorial again to see what else I might need.

I've yet to tackle the ornament after my aqua paint fiasco at Walmart. I couldn't get all of the paint out of my shirt and I scrubbed so hard on my pink sweatshirt coat now the sleeve has an almost white spot on it! I'd better make that ornament after all that trouble!

Shelly it's a very good idea to make pillows from your mom's clothing. It will be so appreciated. I made pillows out of my Dad's shirts for my mom and siblings when he passed 4 years ago. My mom still sleeps with the pillow I made for her. She sent me home with a favorite shirt of Dad's she had saved and asked me to make her another pillow.

Kathy and Catherine, I have a whole package of clear bulbs I bought at Walmart...I'd send you some but with postage rates, it'd be cheaper to buy them! Lol

Good morning Melody, Ann and Sis. I'm going to go check out the new challenges. I sure wish my new laptop would get here. I hate typing on this old tablet. Poor me...LOL

Sure miss Kandie! Hugs and prayers to you!
