Hi Vickie, so nice to read your pop in note. Wishing everyone a peaceful and pain free day today.

And just have to jump in with the only surgeries I have had--- a ganglia removal below my right index finger. Really hard to wash my hair with only one good hand after that surgery!

And my right hip resurface in Belgium at age 55!

Good job, Shirl, on the low number of surgeries!

DH wanted to go to a nearby lake this afternoon and I made the mistake of saying I'd go with him. Ai-yi-yi! For part of the drive to the lake, we were on dirt road and it was in TERRIBLE condition! I'm pretty sure you really should have had a four wheel drive but we were in my Camry. Yikes! Thankfully, we made it. Unfortunately, they have closed access to the lake for the season already. Not sure why, we haven't even had any cold weather yet! Poor guy was disappointed, I was just thankful to return to pavement.

Quiet on here again today. We leave within 30 minutes for an event tonight at DD2's school...I think we would all prefer to skip it but that isn't an option...

Made my card for F today and will probably post it tomorrow when I can get a better picture.

Ha, Catherine, are you going to ask for a four wheel drive for Christmas?

Hope the event goes well!

I watched a YouTube video today and I would never have dreamed to use magnolia paper for a Christmas card!

Here is Jack's cake!

He loves that I add toys to his cakes! He is still playing with the Thomas the Train stuff from last year!!

We had fun identifying all the Pokemom characters! This was a 13" x 9" chocolate layer cake with chocolate filling!

The cake is adorable, Ann. Did you have training for your cake decorating?

Finally home, hurray! The school gym just gets too noisy. The event went well, now we only have one more that we have to attend for DD2's senior year.

Shirl, no thanks to the four wheel drive! That said, DH and DD2 both want a four wheel drive so it will probably happen at some point. DD2 thinks she wants a Jeep to drive. DH wants to steer her to a Toyota for more reliability. We'll see what happens.

Kathy, your magnolia Christmas card is stunning!

What a delightful birthday cake for Jack, Ann. I'm sure he was very happy with it. I made a few fancy birthday cakes for my girls through the years. My most ambitious ones were the pirate ship cakes I made. First, DD1 had a pirate themed birthday and then DD2 eventually did too. I learned from DD1's about the importance of supports as I had completely decorated her cake and it looked fabulous. Thankfully, I took a photo before I went to bed. In the night, it shipwrecked! We managed to restore it somewhat but it was never as good when I went to bed.

Ann, that cake is so cute and takes lots of work (and love).

I'm catching cold. Hope it passes quickly since surgery is four weeks away!

Ann, a really big and beautiful birthday cake.

It's cold and grey over here.

Kathy, get well soon.

Good morning. Cloudy and gray today. Most of our snow is melted, but I'm sure more is on the way, since it is that time of year. Pray for nice weather next weekend. My DD is moving into a new apartment.

Kathy, regarding my stained glass card. You color the copics on the backside, so you can't mess up the outline. Although, it's almost impossible to tell which is the front and which is the back. I colored over every section twice, because I wasn't happy with how light the colors were, and I did accidently mess up on one area, coloring on the wrong side. The outline just disappeared! I stopped as soon as I realized it. I used rubbing alcohol to wipe it off, and then I to redo the outline that I messed up.

Morning!

Cold and damp this morning!!

DH and I are going out for breakfast, just the two of us!! Sons are sleeping after not going to bed till after 2 A.M. They went out with friends after the birthday party!

Training! I took the three Wilton decorating classes offered at our local Michaels store years ago. The rest is self taught through books and trial and error. I have loads of supports for cakes and pans. Lots have been sold already!

But the important part for cakes is a level cake and stacked the night before so the cake rests.

Later...my stomach is growling!

I forgot we color on the other side! Duh! Even doing it the way they do with embossing, you still color on the back! What was I thinking?

I was hungry for pancakes. Haven't had any in many years, and was never really into them, so I don't know where the craving came from. I like,e to use bisquick so I had to go online to figure out how to make just two because I can't eat 14!

Ann, years ago, when I was still single, I took a cake decorating class at MATC. We had to bake a cake each week to decorate, and then I took mine to work the next day. I worked in an office with mostly men. Nobody wanted to cut into the cake and destroy the decorating, but once it was cut, it just disappeared. We didn't do layers, just a regular 9"x13" pan. I still have all the decorating tips, but really never use them anymore with the kids out on their own and DH doesn't eat many carbs, and I'm not a big cake fan.

Good morning! It is sunny and warm here today. DH is out working on finishing putting the van back together. It was certainly nice to be able to borrow my SIL's car last week and then have Thursday-Sunday to get the van fixed. I'm thankful he is such a talented and smart man.

Praying for you, Kathy, that you kick this cold to the curb and are healthy and ready for your surgery.

Dagmar, I hope you are enjoying a lovely weekend.

Melody, I'm glad you mentioned your foil card and substitutions. I just went to see it, it is lovely! I'm especially happy to hear about doing it without embossing because I don't have any embossable acetate.

Safe travels, Gracie! Yay for a new computer!

I have always wanted to take the cake decorating classes but haven't gotten it done. Instead, I purchased some supplies and Wilton books. I'm sure I could do much better with the classes though.

Kathy, pancakes used to be an almost weekly occurrence at our house. Then we switched to mostly having potatoes and eggs. But we make our own pancake mix with whole wheat pastry flour. So tasty!

Melody, my DH isn't a cake fan either so we have birthday pie for him on his birthday.

Speaking of birthdays, it is my oldest brother's birthday today.

Yes, I had to bake a cake and haul all my decorating supplies to Michaels each week!

The first course their was four of us taking it and all said they were signing up for the next one!

Well no other person did so it was just me and the instructor! Michaels had a policy at the time that if they offered the class they had to have it no matter how many people signed up.

So for both Wilton 2 and 3 I was the only student!! LOL! So fun! Lots of work.

But mainly my skill came from reading and doing!

Here's just a few simple cakes I have done. Piped all the flowers!!

Those are gorgeous, Ann. I never learned how to make that kind of flowers. Of course, I know there were a lot of things that couldn't be covered. And I wasn't really interested in taking it further.

Catherine, glad to be of help. I usually write up my deviations, so others can take advantage of what I did. So many times a tutorial will use items I don't have, so I need to substitute something else if I want to do it. I realize that not everyone thinks the same way I do, but I would rather try to use what I have than to go buy something new. If I find that I don't like the technique or project, I'm not going to be happy if I bought something specific and will not use it again.

Did you ladies know SU discontinued their new in color called Purple Posy? They tried fixing their issues with it, but couldn't, so no more purple posy ink or refills. I think you can still get the card stock. It wasn't a favorite color of mine anyway, but it stinks for people who already bought the inkpad and refill.

Melody, the only acetate I have is what I rescue from packaging if it is nice and would be usable so the Staz-On is really the only option for me.

Sweet dreams, Dagmar!

Kathy, I had heard they were having problems with that color. I wonder what happened?

Vickster! Love your magical card. I've finished two of the tutorials, still working on the foiled acetate one, hopefully it is drying, I didn't want to cut it out until the alcohol ink had dried a bit more. Kick that migraine to the curb!

They had trouble with the color breaking down in a few weeks, I think. Now I hear the moose punch is sold out and will not be returning. This was supposed to be available until January!

I just uploaded my foil stained glass card for the 3rd tutorial. I am caught up on Falliday challenges, but not the alpha challenge!

Sadly, the timing belt change didn't completely fixed the problem with the van. Poor DH.

It sounds like SU is having trouble keeping their inventory accurately supplied. I seem to recall them having problems with that in the past as well.

Ann, those cakes are amazing. The one for Jack, of course is wonderful and right up his alley. What great memories he will have. I cannot get over the red flower cakes. What amazing art!

Kathy, glad I got the moose punch when I did. That is pretty disappointing though for people that were waiting to get it. Also, I am glad I did not order the purple posy ink. I only have 4 sheets of the cardstock that I got in the incolor combo c.s.

I am not much of a fan of pancakes, but give me french toast any time!

Victoria, sorry about the migraine. Hope that goes away fast!

Safe travels to Arizona Gracie!

Just saw the fires in Australia are so bad. Where is Jayne located?

Morning!

My challenge is up today for Falliday Fest! Hope you like it! It's easy and no extra supplies needed! LOL!

Safe travels Gracie!

None of my family likes cake too much anymore! Why you ask? The smell of the frosting in the house gets to be over powering!

Pancakes the kids and grandkids like but with chocolate chips, and they are from scratch.

I slept in this morning so I've got to get myself moving! It's snowing and blowing and very cold today! It's 19 degrees outside with only a high of 24 degrees today!

Good morning all. 24 hours in the truck and about 5 more to go. Thank goodness! I checked weather back in Wis. And it's only 14 degrees. Brrrrr! Suppose to be 70 when we get to Payson! Yay!
Have a wonderful day!,

Ann, I have the majority of my card finished. I need to finish up and get it uploaded.

Hi Dagmar and all!

Shirl
I didn't like the purple posy color anyway, so I'm only disappointed for those who loved it. Like you, I have a few sheets of the card stock that came in the assorted packs. I will put them in with my retired sheets and use on practice runs.

I'm doing laundry! We just got all new sheets and blankets for our bed so that's more laundry to get it all washed!

So no crafting right now! Need to finish up my Christmas village too!

Good morning! Crazy morning here, I had to leave early to go down the hill and take DH to work. He dropped the van off at a recommended garage, unfortunately, they don't have time to look at it until Thursday! He'll probably rent a car to get through the week because he doesn't want to do the inconvenient thing. I'm concerned that we need to be looking for a replacement vehicle. The Sienna is from 2000 and we have used it like a work truck. It has over 300,000 miles on it (maybe over 350,000) so it is probably time. Yuck, I intensely dislike vehicle shopping. Especially when we are in a hurry for a replacement. Enough about that!

Shirl, there is a restaurant near our home that makes the BEST French toast! So tasty, I'm not sure what they put in but it has an extra fabulous taste. Come down to CA to visit and we'll go eat some!

Ann, I hope to get to your challenge this evening. We'll see if I get to do that, I do have chores waiting for me.

Gracie, what a LONG haul for you. Hopefully, you are almost done!

Kathy, I think I liked the Purple Posy color, I can't remember! I don't usually get the in colors though I have the past couple of years for whatever reason. I think there was something in there that I really liked so I went ahead and got them. I mostly stick to the core color families though. Berry Burst is a color that the ink pad completely disappointed me. It has always stamped darker than the cs by a significant amount. Enough that I have wondered if there was a mix up in manufacturing it! I have had one other ink color that was like that but mostly they match the color on the case for me.

I only get in colors if I'm in love with them. This time it was seaside spray and pretty peacock. I don't have all the core colors either. I have all the regals, 8 brights, 7 neutrals, and 6 subtles. The rest I didn't feel I needed.

Catherine, it's a date for the french toast, lol....At IHOP here, I just get the senior's regular one, but the one my dh likes uses brioche bread. So it is richer tasting. I am thinking more calories though, so I have not tried it yet. If anyone has lost around 13 pounds, they are at my house, on my bod, lol. I currently am just loathe to join weight watchers again. But might have to if I can't get it off.

Putting out some Christmas decor today.

Our local station carried all of the Rememberance ceremonies, so we watched those this morning.

love to all,
Shirl

Kathy, I don't think I have all the core colors now. I purchased the families all together one at a time but they have re-done the core colors since then. I'm not sure if I have everything or not. The first time I purchased all the colors, they immediately re-did their core colors. Fortunately, my demo at the time was able to return them so I could order them in the new core colors.

Shirl, I wish I could say I had lost the 13 pounds - however, I would say I don't want them back either!
