Yeah for family visits! You must be so excited!

My hysterectomy was back in 97 and I tried a few things but my doc is against hormone therapy, too many issues with breast cancer. Oh well. Tomorrow is the summer equinox, we will go from 20c to 38c. I shouldn't complain because the weather has been good for grumpy and I!

Sending hugs all around! Oh strawberries are here! Yum! Kathy strawberry salads are waiting for you!

Today is the first day of summer. Heat alert of 40c for tomorrow. Already an air quality alert. Looks like tomorrow will be the first smog day since return to work after the pandemic.

Lynn, I had my 5th strawberry salad today!

I had my 3-month check up with my primary care doc. I lost 9 lbs!! And my cholesterol dropped from 256 to 157 and my triglycerides dropped from 686 to 179! He put me on a mega dose of fish oil 3 months ago because there's no real side effects and it works!

I'm just eating my strawberries as dessert or snacks. Paid more for lical berries and they are so goood!
Kathy, those are amazing results from big doses of fish oil. I take a fish oil supplement, but only 1000 mg. per day. i think I will slowly bump it up to 3000/day, but I imagine that is still a lot less than you take. My cholsterl is up as is my LDH, but my doctor is not concerned because I don't have a family history of heart disease.
Well, I'd better start gardening, as it will be too hot around 11:30, when the sun hits that hosta bed beside the garage. It's the last one to edge and weed. After that it will be just minor weeding and dead heading. Wish I had a way of posting a photo, but I've trie without success.

Hi, everyone! Heat is terrible here, but managing. Crafting. And now I am leading a Bible study now every other Tuesday for the Summer. I keep adding to my schedule. LOL.
I am with you, Ina, I have been eating strawberries on my cereal, oatmeal, lettuce salads, yogurt, jello, just by themselves. They have been so good this year! we eat a lot of fruit. We had fruit plates with cottage cheese, & deviled eggs for our main meals this weekend.

are you going to share stories from Grumpy, Lynn? Hope you are feeling better.

Kathy, the out of the few times I got to Wendy’s the last few years, they haven’t had that salad. Maybe once or twice, the other times I am too early or too late! I am not sure where the nearest Wendy’s is, but have gone to one in a town near here, as it is in the same shopping center where my scrapbook shop located.
Jan, I can imagine how excited you are about the family coming! You and Steve getting everything ready sounds like us ! LOL

Yes I am very happy to have local produce!

Kathy that is excellent results! I better not tell you about the Reese peices at dairy queen! I can't do fish oil, allergic.

The heat is here. Morning and my apartment is already 29c. All my windows are closed as the air quality is bad plus I live above a highway.

Winne must still be traveling around OZ.

Off to search for food.

Big huge hugs

I had to stop gardening at 11, I was sweating too much. No, I am not a lady. I don't glow, or even prespire. I sweat! It's a humid 85°.
I will be planting some a nuals at my daughter's place this afternoon, around 3vir 4. I hope there will be shade. Taking my granddaughter to a church BBQ later, and stayung overnight in a motel, with girgeous gardens. Sharon, those grands are really easy to take care of. The 10 year old plays vudeo games, and the 7 and 8 year olds play together really well. Board games, being pushed on the dish swing (both fit) and just hanging out. They have a huge yard, with lats of shade trees.
This is Jayne's birthday, and she is traveling. She posted a facebook photo if herself on the beach in Broome. Gorgeous beach! And she looks great too.

It's about 100 where grumpy is delivering mail. Downtown is always hotter. I promised not to go out. I will take it easy and read.

Kathy, Ina do you mean cod liver oil? We take one a day but not sure what the dosage is or that they do any good but my Mum and Dad always said they did.

we had to mop all the tiles around the pool this morning as we had dirty rain, again, at least it’s cooled off since the thunderstorm last night.
walked to the doctors to change my mammogram appointment as it’s while the family are here and our sons fiftieth, it’s been three and a half years since they called me because of covid and we haven’t been anywhere for two years and now when we have stuff going on I get an appointment, anyway the receptionist told them I was going away so they changed it for two days before they all arrive , that’s a morning gone though as it’s an hours drive each way and a long wait.

You can buy fish oil pills here without a prescription. This is a high dose and he says I would have to take quite a few pills to get what I need. I take 4 pills a day.

Lynn yes we are still on the road for several more weeks.

Kathy I used to take 4 fish oil tablets a day for years but then realised they weren’t agreeing with me. A friend had bad psoriasis and she takes 8 a day and her skin has cleared up after a couple of years.

We leave Broome tomorrow. It’s been warm and good to relax for a couple of weeks. Heading south again. Not looking forward to the cold in a couple of weeks.

The doctor asked if I had any side effects with the fish oil and I said no. And with good results, I'm staying on them for a while.

It is a hot day and I am taking it easy. I am rewatching Endeavor and Morse. It is amazing how Shaun Evans and the writers are doing the years before Morse became Morse.

You are right Morse was cranky, full of himself, bigot, misogynistic..yup and more. I think Lewis should have thumped this one! Lol The series ending is perfect because it was the drinking that got him. It's funny, I think I watch too much british stuff because I see the same places over and over again. Oh well it is keeping me out of trouble.

How is everyone?

Lynn have you watched the spin off Lewis? We enjoyed that as we like Kevin Whately, we know him from Auf Weidersein Pet! Not sure if I’ve spelt that right.
we always like Thursday, Steve says watching Endeavor is like when he first joined the Force.
It’s funny you get so many British shows, Morse, Endeavor and Lewis are all set in Oxford, our DIL in SF, her sister works at Oxford university and her husband is a Don at the University

have you watched Life on Mars, that’s really good,

Tea break. I have been gardening for 1.5 hours. Lots of dead heading right now. This is the between time in the perennial garden. Spring flowers are finished blooming and summer flowers have yet to start. I dead head the spent flowers to make it look a little tidier.
Boy, oh boy. I am lost when you talk about TV shows and movies. I don't have a TV and rarely go to movies. I like live theatre, though. On Sunday, my friend and I are going to an outdoor performance of 'The secret garden'.
Hello to all of you; Kathy, Carlene, Sharon, Jan, Jayne, Lynn, Judy, Kelly, and everyone else following us. A perfect day here in southwestern Ontario. Temps in the seventies and nothing but sunshine!
Hoping for good test results Lynn!

My Christmas present from grumpy was Britbox so I could watch a ton of shows. When I grow up I wanna be like Vera! Independent and drive a defender! The way she eats and lives I can do without! Lol They have been redoing "all creatures great and small" very different how they show any animal scenes. Loved Lewis and think it should have gone on longer. Tennyson, the early years, didn’t last long. Yup 'life on mars' then there was the series but it was a girl. They have remade some Poroit, why can't I spell today, any way like it best with David Suchet as he was true to the books. OK need to find food. The water will be turned off again tomorrow. The joys.

INa that rings a bell the secret garden, I looked it up but maybe I read a book with a similar story.

Lynn we like the new All creatures great and small. We also like meigret, not sure how you spell it. We wasn’t keen on Vera although we’ve always liked Belinda Blethen in other things. Ashes to Ashes was the next after Life on Mars but we didn’t like it as much .

Grumpy brought me to the doc. The CT scan shows nothing in my head. The blood tests were all good. Missing one test. No idea why I can't remember the pharmacist name but I remember the one before him. The nurse is doing OK. Her father passed away recently. It has been extremely hard 9n her. She is not putting off her vacation next week thankfully! I got my covid booster so that is shot #4.

No water tomorrow. Thursday afternoon I get my skin check. When I went there last time the doc was in labor!

This shot hurt. None of the others did till later.

What, Lynn? Nothing in your head? What happened to your brain?
Yes Sharon, the older I get, the faster time seems to fly by.
I started this post befor I went for my walk. It started to sprinkle halfway through and got heavier before I got home. I am thrilled. We really needed rain. And yes, I did get soaked, but it was worth it.

Nope nothing in there at all! I cleared the cobwebs before the CT.

Maigret with Gambon is great, with Rowan I can't watch. MAIGRET is such a serious series and I just always see Rowan with a turkey on his head from a Mr.Bean episode.

Got shot #4 in my left arm. It is sore and my left lower jaw is sore. Didn't sleep well and I have been out of it all day. Supposed to see the dermatology for a skin check but fell very yuck, so will 4ebook that for another time.

Hope all is well. Oh cat, 14, is doing better now that I give her some creamed food on alternate days. She has finally calmed down too.

Big huge hugs

The full buck moon that rises on July 13 is the "perigee supermoon" of 2022 which means it will come closer to Earth than any other full moon since it doesn't orbit in a perfect circle around our planet but in an oval instead

Here is my June 2022 "Male & ABCs" challenge card. It is a Father's Day card for my son-in-law who has taken little 3-year old Sienna to visit animals of all kinds from the time she was three months old...even to an Australian Petting Zoo, where she met a kangaroo, wallaby, and a koala, plus a few others.

Here is my card: Farmyard Favorites for Father's Day

Happy Canada Day to all Canadians on this thread, and also to those who wish they were Canadian. Hope you have a good one Lynn.
i'll be celebrating quietly. I'm remembering my mom, who would have been 104 on this day.

Default S2S22JUL 'Going to the beach'

July 1 is time for a new challenge. This month we are going to the beach. Anything you find at a beach. Water activities, sunbathing, cwater birds or fish cottages, you name it. Let's have fun at the beach.
And I will be going to the beach the week of July 11. For today, I will walk to my rocky beach and go for a kittle kayak ride, after the rain that is forecast for noon.

I'm working on my "Challenge Catch-Up" goal! I chose whiskey as my husband's favorite beverage for his Father's Day card!

Here is my card: Being A Dad is Whiskey Business!

Hi everyone! Yes I am still alive. I am finally over the side effects of my covid booster shot, so that is a total of 4.

So.. interesting.. after the big faux pas that the neighbors did, borrowing my key and forgetting and going out to a BBQ.. well they needed help and sent the dad! Lol! They needed someone to watch their cat. This the the big overweight cat that looked like a basketball with 4 legs. Well he is older and having a hard time keeping food down and has lost 20% of his weight. Eekk. My cat is about the same age and she was throwing up more. Now she gets a combo of cat food mousse and dry. I think I will need to switch fully to wet food soon. Their cat is on wet food and I figured out if I add a bit of water he is not throwing up. I hate cleaning up!

Didn't do anything for Canada day due to the yuck weather. I did get out for groceries. Oh oh. A boomer hack! I spoke to a lady at the grocery store and a real boomer, born in 1943! She had a walker some call it a rollator, on the seat area she had a box. The box was the size of the seat. The box was held by an elastic cord. She can put her groceries in the box. The box can slide from the seat to back of her SUV. When she gets home she does the reverse! Genius! Now for me, my car is a regular 4 door car or sedan. I would have to lift the box and can't just slide it. I am certain my son can figure out something when I need it. She was an occupational therapist! Anyways told her my trick. I text my son every morning. This way he knows I am OK or I need help.

OK big huge hugs to everyone!

Happy 4th!

So I have a storage locker down in the basement. Basically a big room with fencing to separate areas with a door. I have to clear it out so they can get in and work on the sprinkler system. Grumpy will be busy helping me. I have a metal shelving unit on the back wall plus another on the adjoins wall then large things in the middle. I guess it is just a bit wider than a shelving unit.

A bit late, but I hope all of my American friends here, are having a great July 4th.
Busy, busy this week with VBS. We have a focus on soccer, besides the spiritual aspect. I am the first aid person, as well as doing a skit with another leader. She is very talented to write 5 short skits, and I just do the acting. Everyone lived today's performance, so we are off to a good start. It's a fun week but very tiring.

Lynn we used to have storage lockers in the basement in our army apartment in Germany.

we find with this car the boot, or trunk has a lip that we have to lift everything over whereas the Volvo was flat and we could slide things straight in, when we were n Germany and I was pregnant I had a shopping trolley, when I got home I would leave it downstairs for steve to carry up the stairs , could you use one of those, leave it in the car, fill it when you get home, use it to take your shopping into your apartment as you have a lift.

I have one of those. The discussion I was having with the lady was about not lifting too much. Right now I am OK with everything except the kitty litter, my son gets that for me. My son also does the Costco runs and brings up all the stuff for me.

Rain here today which means headaches for me.

How is everyone doing?
