Glad you have your bed under your hammock Lynn. Thanks for the reminders on what’s coming in the sky.

Happy Monday and week everyone...it’s a crazy busy one this end.

Oh right. I made a postcard for St. Paddy's day and am sharing it here for those who don't get it through the mail. Yup I am still in multiple time zones. Off to the island to relax at the lagoon where there are NOT testing the fire alarms

hugs

A big congratulations to you Sharon. You certainly deserve this great distinction. Enjoy your time on the dirt pile. Jayne, are you still on, or did your term expire?
I am having trouble posting on SCS right now. I can only do so by quoting from someone else's post. Is anyone else having an issue?

I think I may have a version of shell shock. Yesterday and today, alarm going on multiple times an hour for at least 6 hours and today again for about 5 hours.
my hearing affected of course. I am exhausted. I can't think straight. I wish it was warm enough for the balcony cause it is just too loud in here and I am in no fit state to go out.

(((Lynn)))

Ina, yes I had lots of problems yesterday and gave up. The site kept throwing me out. So far so good today.

Yes I’ve finished my 6 months on the Dirt Pile. It went so quickly. I will try and still make a card for the theme each month. We still keep the title and someone said we go into the Alumni but I’m not sure how it works. I should be better informed. Sharon is probably going to be starting her April samples soon and then she’s 2 months down.

Happy St Patrick’s Day everyone.

Got my 2nd Moderna dose this past Monday...March 8. Had a bit more of a reaction than the first one, but nothing terribly severe. I endured! I ran about a 100.7 fever for about 8 hours, tired, sleepy, achy, but no slight headache this time. Also, it took about 12 hours to set in, where with the first it was within a few hours. Symptoms lasted about 36 hours with the 2nd and about 24 with the first. Busy yesterday most of the day and was able to function perfectly...not too tired when finally got home.

Today, I just fine for sure and working on posting my granddaughter's birthday card.

I'm posting this one as my third card of five for the January challenge, "Dreams." I have 2 more to go!

I had added to my non-COVID Bucket List of Dreams, "Wouldn't it be lovely to make a reservation to see a ballet with my daughters...."Swan Lake" comes to mind...one of my favorite!"

Here is my card: A Ballerina Birthday for Callie!

WOW! I just found out our local WalMart (a small WalMart for a small town) has closed as of today for a deep clean. 13 people have come down with COVID from shopping in their store (some may be employees as well). I've been staying pretty close to home for over a year, and only been in the actual store 2 times...very, very briefly...run in get it/ get out. And here I thought we were coming around in western Washington, but this is the worst case I've heard of so close to home...8 miles from my doorstep. (We do have to travel a bit to get from the semi-country to actual shopping.)

Yup cases are popping up every where!

I went and got an oil change where you stay in your car. They were very good especially since I told them to yell at me because I had forgotten my hearing aid! Lol yup much quieter than the alarm testing here!

Feeling better now that they are done. Hoping to maybe go to Michaels tomorrow now that they are open. I am out of black ink of all things.

Tomorrow grumpy is coming over and we are gonna celebrate st paddy's day with green milkshakes!
Stay safe
Stay sane
Big hugs!!

I heard today that Michaels has sold their stores...one fellow SCSer reported they now seemed to have fabric in their stores (so far looking like quilting type fabrics. Anybody heard anything about it?

I have heard they sold but haven't heard anything about fabric. It may depend on the specific Michaels.

Brrr! It was a cold walk this morning. The nor' easter was blowing off the lake. It took me three hours to get warmed up afterwards. But I had a lovely drive down sourh this afternoon (all the way to Burlington) and a half hour visit with my brother, on the deck.

Michaels near me. A ton of yarn which is typical. A whole aisle to cricut now. The stamp section quite empty. Not much in the way of inks but a lot of glitter. Not really worth the drive out there

It seems more and more of our crafting/ stamping stores are closing around here in the southeast Seattle area. Sure sorry to see that go...so fun to go and browse, and of course, buy too much!

OK. So I have been wanting to modify a pair of pants for a long time. The bottoms are quite wide. So I set everything up and my sewing machine starts sewing backwards!!! Huh! So I reset. I do my stich selection again. Backwards??? It took over 15 minutes to get my sewing machine to go forward! The reverse button was not pushed in or anything! I get my line of stitching in and then step on a clear plastic lid that had fallen on the floor while I cursed my machine. Does it get any better than this!?!?! Can someone please send Murphy to mars or something.

Sky watchA massive asteroid, at least as big as the CN Tower, is making a flyby of Earth on March 21. We've known about this kilometre-wide space rock for nearly 20 years, and its upcoming encounter the largest and fastest flyby for any known asteroid in all of 2021.

According to NASA's Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS), nearly one hundred known asteroids are set to fly past Earth before the end of 2021. Among these, one in particular — (231937) 2001 FO32 — stands out from the rest in two ways.

At an estimated 1.1 kilometres wide, it is the largest known asteroid to fly past us this year. It could possibly be up to 1.7 km wide, based on astronomical records from over the past two decades. However, NASA says that recent observations from their infrared NEOWISE satellite suggest that it is closer to 560 metres meters wide. Based on previous discoveries, the differences in these estimates could simply be due to having better instruments at our disposal to measure the asteroid's size. However, it could also indicate that 2001 FO32 is a potato-shaped space rock, and thus longer

Of the approximately 25,000 near-Earth asteroids that we know about, only around 20 per cent are larger than 300 metres. This drops to just 3.5 per cent for asteroids larger than one kilometre. So, 2001 FO32 is at least uncommonly large, and is potentially in a fairly rare class.

This space rock is also the fastest-moving known asteroid that passes us this year. While most asteroids just 'coast' on by, travelling at less than 10 kilometres per second, 2001 FO32 will streak past at over three times that speed — 34.4 km/s. That's nearly 124,000 kilometres per hour!

Sounds like we should be thankful it's going to just to a flyby! Interesting facts, Lynn! I'm just surprised I haven't hear all this from my DH...he's really into space, etc. and I have yet to come in to TV room and not have him fill me up with lots of data, etc. that he's sure I need to know immediately! LOL So, it's good I beat him to the punch with this info, thanks Lynn.

So, procrastination set in yesterday, and I didn't get my ballerinas started, so I am off to do that now, but thought I drop in for a catchup first!

Thank you Jayne! I had to modify the pants. Oh so comfy but the very wide legs would trip me up. One of those strange I can't seem to wake up or sleep days. Good news. Grumpy went and had dinner with his grandmother's brother. He is an outdoors man and I think he finally found out how much grumpy is outdoorsy. I have stayed out of a lot of stuff regarding his father's family. The father is absent.. Grandma did Not like me though that side of the family really like grumpy. They really like how much grumpy was there when grandma was in the hospital...oopps that was longer than I expected

Morning! I was trying to get through to my friend for 30 minutes. She wanted me to help her book her vaccine appointment. She was on the phone trying that way. It's done now.

I am waiting for a package and then talk to the doc if there is still time. I will have to book in with the doc to find out how he wants to do the vaccine for me. I have strange reactions to meds so who knows what might happen. Other than that it is a nice day here
