Merry Christmas. Grumpy and I had a good time. We have not cooked together in about a year!

Here is my view on the world. Thinking of the carpenters song..I am on the top of the world looking down on creation..

Great photo Lynn and I love that song.  So glad that you had a nice day with grumpy.

We had a quiet and different day this year. The first year that I haven’t had all of the family here.  We could have as you know but everyone had different plans or were working and when you have different sets of parents to think about it’s tricky. We chose to keep it quiet and it was strange but pleasant. We had a seafood and salad dinner as it was hot here and I taught myself how to cut up a lobster. Usually someone else does it...I felt I achieved something lol.

We also had lots of calls and messages. The day was spent on the phone a lot lol.

Today my inbox is full of Boxing Day sales.  I’ve deleted them all.  The cricket is on and we shall stuff our faces with leftovers lol.

Have a wonderful evening and week.  Thinking of you all and sending hugs and love.

G'day mate! I am watching a show called
Water Rats
Filmed around Sydney Harbor
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115417/

Grumpy and I had a great talk, adult to adult. Instead of One Little Word..my phrase will be
Outside the box

Since I will still be in lock down for the foreseeable future, I need the adjust to live better within these walls ( box).

Sounds like you all had a lovely day.  We were just two.  We decided to have deli sandwiches Christmas Eve, because that is what we usually do when everyone is here while we do gifts, only we didn’t do gifts.  Larry made a delicious potato salad to go with it.  Watched a church Christmas Eve service on TV, then later The Greatest Showman with Hugh Jackman.  It was good, even though we had seen it before.
So that was Christmas Eve.  Christmas Day, we watched  our churches Christmas Eve service online.  Talked to family, our son for a long time.  We were just lazy, except for a walk around our neighborhood.  Watched The Food That Built  America series on the History channel, on most of the evening.  Very, very good!

Trying to stay off iPad, as it takes up too much of my time.

So not a lot of posting going forward; I hope to be more productive!.
Waving to you all.

Hello all. As Lynn's photos show, we have lots and lots of snow. 8 inches so far, and it just keeps coming down. It started on Christmas Eve, with rain, quickly turning to snow. The slippery roads were the reason I did not attend the Christmas Eve church service. I'm sorry I missed it as it will be the last in person service until the endbof January, unless Covid gets worse and our lockdown is extended.
I had a lively meal of latkes and veggies on Christmas day. Late in the afternoon, my daughter and her family dropped by. We visited outside while  Ben shovelled the driveway. It had already been cleared in the morning, but there were a couple more inches. My 8 year old grandson got cross country skis and he was anxious to try them in my big backyard. He did really well. My daughter, Leif and I have plans to go out skiing next week.
Today, I have been making photo card sets and pizza boxes to hold them. They are for my neighbours. I'd better take a photo before it gets too dark.

Lynn cozy socks and slippers. It’s warm here...not stinking hot though lol.  The cricket is on..it’s big here from Boxing Day.

Time for me to seize the day and do something. Sharon I also intend to try and stay off this iPad but I’m sure once I’ve had my op I will need something to do.  I’m definitely dumping FB for a while. I don’t post much but use it to see what family and friends are doing overseas. I will still keep my travel blog but that’s a private group and we aren’t travelling lol.  I did well the past week...I was 42% down on screen time usage.

Happy day everyone. Keep warm or cool wherever you are.  Hugs

Lynn I do t worry much about coordinating when I’m indoors if it’s cold, we had a cold night, took ages to warm the villa but it’s apparently going to be getting warmer in the next few days, mind you I think zero is warmer than Ina and Lynn!

I feel that I have so many cards already done with all the challenges I want to use them up, I will try to motivate myself to do my scrapbook, I’ve finished the one I was doing for youngest GS, should have been for his first birthday, he’s five in April!!

We’ve had two lazy days, watched Paul McCartney last night at the Cavern in Liverpool where the Beatles started out, he was really good, we had a bit of a singalong, took us back a bit to our youth, LOL

I am so thrilled and honoured to be named featured stamper for this week. And looking forward to seeing all the cards made. Jayne has had this honour too, and I regret that I did not make a card that week.

Congratulations Ina! Your gallery is fabulous. I spend way too much time looking and I need to get creating! I loved the card Kittie chose to CASE.

Have a great day all! I'm going to finish reading emails, then some sewing to do and hopefully, get to my craft room. Where does the time go?

Lynn, I love your fashion sense!

Congrats Ina!

Me I am in colorful layers! Yup about as color coordinated as yesterday but comfy. I have no idea of the date or time cause I think my body parts are all in different time zones. Hopefully I will all be in one time zone in 5 days. Oh well. Grumpy is going to be busy, I think, with his friend coming into town. But with the snow and lock down, I have no idea if he is coming. I just need to avoid the walls that keep showing up in front of me! Lol

Stay safe. Enjoy any hugs you can get!

Lynn, be careful. You need to stop pouring spiked egg nog for your walls.  When they start stumbling in front of you, they have had too much.

Congratulations Ina so happy for you. Enjoy your special week. I shall have to browse your gallery later today. I know I will find some beauties as I’ve got a few of your gorgeous creations.

Happy Monday everyone and so a new week begins. The last of this awful year

Good morning everyone. It's the last week of the year! We start all over on Friday, to see if we can do better in 2021. It's raining and miserable here. We walk in the rain in the summer, but not in the winter. So I'll have to get my exercise r7nning up and down my stairs today.
Thank you all for your good wishes on my being chosen stamper of the week. Seeing all the cards people made, got me to look at my own gallery differently.

I haven’t done any totals this year, I have made so many cards but not uploaded many of them and I haven’t spend much.

Jan, I have not done any totals either, but I know I have spent a lot. I think we have been moving away from the original purpose of this forum and towards socializing and being a support group.

How many of you still use calendars? I call myself a calendar girl, and not in the usual sense of posing for seductive half dressed pictures. Yuck, that would be very sickening. No, in the sense that I have calendars on the wall in every room of my house.  I just like the beautiful scenery, or cute animals on them. Pretty well all of them are sent to me by charitable organizations which I support, or which would like me to support them. And for some reason, I always end up saving them after the year is over (yes, I am a hoarder). This week, I unearthed a Sierra Club calendar from 2008. It was a large one, with pictures 12.5 x 10.5 inches. I have been making little pizza boxes for sets of 5 A2 photo cards for my ne8ghbours. I will post one in my gallery later.

I have a calendar or two in every room! The only calendar I save is my kitchen calendar because I write appts and stuff on it and it acts like a diary of sorts. Oh, I also save my two year planner that I carry in my purse. I mostly have lighthouses, kittens or bible verse calendars.

Calendar girl!! Yup I have 3 plus my planner. I got myself a really nice group of seven Canadian artist one and a crazy cat one.

Ina you are right. This year we really have been supporting each other through such a crazy time. I really don't know what I would have done without you lovely wonderful people.

I think that realistically the first half of next year will still be full of lock downs and uncertainty. There is a vaccine but because of my health issues I won't be getting it till it has a proven track record. Grumpy is young and healthy without all the strange reactions to meds I have so he will get the vaccine before me. I am not an antivacer..whatever they call themselves, I just know that these vaccines are quick to market so the real test of efficacy will be on the public as time goes on. Though I really really wish there was a magic pill I could take today.

Wouldn't it be nice

We could all go to an island full of any craft supplies we want. The weather is temperate. We can see all our friends. No one has any health problems.

Ina I agree we have moved over to chat and a support group, it’s been a good thing during this awful year, it’s been wonderful to chat with all the friends I’ve made on SCS over the years and a few new ones too, I know it’s kept my spirits up and it’s been interesting to hear how other countries have coped.

As for calendars, the only one I have is from our son and DIL, she makes them online and has them printed with photos of the GSs, we used to be given quite a few but they don’t seem to give them out any more, funnily enough we had a Christmas gift from the pharmacy, some shower gel, ha,ha, we always bring them a tub of English chocolate back from our holidays.
I’d be interested to see your boxes

Lynn that’s a lovely thought, can you imagine how big the island would have to be with all of us on it plus every craft item we could think of! Perhaps we could invite TH to give us lessons, ha,ha

Jan, if you check my gallery, I posted one today. I have made 5 of them, 2 different sizes, as 3 sets of cards were A2, but one set of cards were 5 x 7. The bigger cards go to a friend who sends cards to shut in's regularly, and seeing as they are older and some have fading eyesight, she writes big. Also the photos that I put on the front have to have bright flowers.

If we are all going to live on an island, I want it to be warm and sunny. And I want to bring my kayak too. I'll let y'all borrow it.

Lynn I’m sure steve would do the cooking and yes a different person each week to teach would be good, I agree with Ina it has to be warm and Ina could teach us all how to Kayak!

We had a lovely trip with a Dutch couple we met when we first came here, we were living over near the Mar Menor, it’s a lagoon , they made a picnic, Dutch style and Rein took us around the island that’s a bird sanctuary, we had our picnic there sat on the boat it was so peaceful.

OK so we are on an island with all the crafting supplies we want. Friends and family can come any time. Jan and Steve get to go to the beach for their coffee. Ina has her kayak. We need to have some rain so we can have pretty flora to take pictures of. Kathy has a Dunkin Donuts near by. Grumpy can bring us the mail when he isn't off camping. Jayne will talk about her travels and organize excursions for us.

What am I missing? Oh Jan doesn't have to be a daredevil because we will have a maintenance team.

Cat will have her own space so she can socially distance. Grumpy can teach us on the canoe. Oh we need a fire pit. We need a place to see the stars. Grumpy needs a dog. Joe would have been perfect as he was a feral mutt who would do anything for me for a belly rub. Oh yes I would sleep like a normal person and no one would have aches or pains!

I want to join in on the island! Tom is a great cook...and shops for groceries, too. We have kayaks, too! Cat and Lola could become friends, keeping their social distance of course. We have 2 dogs for Grumpy. They love pets and being in the water. I'm a fire lover and build the best campfires!!

Now, I have to go check out that magic mat Lynn!
