AOCC 18

Hey everyone!

I've decided to continue for another year. I'm determined to get cards made/ mailed this year and I'm taking a slightly different approach.

Here's the intro:

How many times have you started your day with, today is______ s birthday. I wish Id remembered to send a card. Or are you scrambling last minute to just get one made?

With the All Occasion Card Challenge, you can put all that behind you!
Each month around the 20th, well remind you to look at your card recipient list for the coming month.

WHO: Everyone that needs cards for b-days, anniversaries, get well....you know-anything.

WHAT: A way to get those card needs met ahead of time so you aren't scrambling at midnight to finish before next days event...(yeah, I know I've seen you there with me) There is no score keeping here!

It's all for you and helping you stay motivated. Just look ahead to coming month and see what you need. then challenge yourself to get them done using our challenges - or not. some months you may need 10 b-day cards and the next month none. whatever you need for coming month is what you do. For instance; some months I don't have any events and plan to do cards for the stash that I have trouble making at last minute like get well and sympathy cards.

WHY:To relieve stress! This way youll have cards for all your events made ahead!! We all know how busy life can be, so why not try to get your cards all done by the end of current month instead of night before! Remember, the whole idea behind this challenge is to make your life easier. we can all use that, right?

WHERE: First upload to your gallery then post a link in the designated thread.
Please use the KEYWORD listed in the first post of each month (You'll find a link to those threads in Post #2) so that others can search for your cards! Please use only the thread that I start for each month or you might be missed, and we want y'all to get plenty of lovin for being such good overachievers.

To attach a link here, when the page you want us to go see is open, go to the address bar and 'copy the whole thing' then go to where you want it seen and paste it in the post box. If you need instructions for this check the attached PDF file drawn up by Vikki or PM me for further assistance.

WHEN: The whole month! There is no 'deadline' for getting your monthly cards done. This is just a motivational challenge to help you!

HOW: Just post a reply to this thread saying that you want to join and then start creating! Make your cards any way you like. Any tools, toys, gadgets, embellishments, etc...you decide- after all, these are YOUR cards.

Remember: with postal changes, mail may take a bit longer. Mailing within the first week of the month will help insure they have their card in plenty of time to enjoy it. Obviously, if their occasion is within that first week, youll want to mail earlier.

CHALLENGES:
There will be a challenge posted once a month. It will be posted in the first post of each separate month. A link to that thread will post here in the main thread. You may use the challenge, or not, in your card designs. They are just to get the mojo going.

POSTING YOUR CARDS:
Because this is a challenge group, it is encouraged that you post a link to your gallery where everyone can leave you LOVE, in the appropriate thread for each month.

NEW THIS YEAR!

I think one of the things that gets me is I don't LOOK at my card list. I made that card box last year but then the day job took over and I never even looked.

So I'm adding to the challenge this year.

Around the 20th of each month I'll post a reminder in this main thread for you to
post....

# of Birthday
# of Anniversary

cards you need for the coming month.
So this week, I'd like you to post how many of each you need for January. Then on the 20th of January, we'll be looking ahead to February... etc.

Who's with me?

MARCH

APRIL

MAY

Count me in! I can't get started until after the holidays, but I'll give it a go. Happy New Year!

smadson 12-28-2017 12:10 PM

I am in, Kelly! Thanks for staring it!

I need two special birthday cards for January! Already made one for DGS, but need one for DD. Still thinking what it will be!
I haven’t looked at my church birthday calendar yet!

ScrappinCEO 12-30-2017 09:54 AM

I will get the threads set up tomorrow or Monday. I am determined to get these two videos recorded today.

Stamperamma 12-31-2017 06:16 AM

I would love to participate. Maybe this is the kick in the carcass that I need

Welcome!

ScrappinCEO 12-31-2017 12:01 PM

Girls, I will get the threads set up tomorrow. I spent all day today working on a YouTube upload that didn't want to cooperate. And a nap came early in my day. LOL

They say what you do on the first day of a New Year sets the guide for the whole year. If that's true - I'm going to be planning! LOL

See you next year!

smadson 12-31-2017 05:31 PM

Happy New year, Kelly! Great video BTW.

Julie Gearinger 01-01-2018 09:51 PM

I'm in again for this year- thanks Kelly!

auntangie 01-02-2018 04:03 PM

I'm in again Kelly. Thank you for hosting again!

muscrat 01-03-2018 05:49 AM

I think I will give it a go. I won't be including cards for church, just family and friends.

ScrappinCEO 01-03-2018 05:53 AM

Welcome back, ladies! I have Jan - Mar set up. I hope to finish the rest of the threads today. I have the files open and ready to go. Need to do chores and fix breakfast first.

Hawaiian 01-03-2018 09:01 AM

I’m thinking about it because I’m always fashionably late on all cards .. so I thinking if I’m ready to let this help me to be better at not extending things lol I can’t promise I’ll want to give up my fashionably late crown though

Fashionably late is better than not at all... or 'the thought that counts' LOL
Welcome to the group, sis

HI Kathy.
That's fine... but why do I think that's a long list in itself? LOL

Noticed I didn't welcome a few of you.

Sharon, welcome back. Thank you for the love on my video. I'm still learning.

Julie, Thank you so very much for your help last year. I look forward to your beautiful work again.

Angie, So tickled to see you here. I missed you last year.

cdimick 01-06-2018 03:05 PM

I think I want to try this challenge this year. I start the year well and then fizzle out, hopefully this will help avert that from happening.

Welcome, Catherine!

I'm suggesting everyone post in the monthly thread what they need for that month. Putting it out there for the world to see LOL

I happened to think I don't have the monthly tabs listed in the first post. I will fix that tomorrow. Right now I have a kitty crying that it is time for bed or she wants out of the bedroom.. one or the other.

vikkijo 01-09-2018 07:05 AM

I am in!

I have January done, addressed, stamped and waiting. Some are mailed, but you know what I mean. LOL

I made a perpetual calendar that hangs next to my desk. It is a normal size calendar, but it has birthdays listed instead of actual calendar pages.

Then I have a book on the desk of my SCS family birthdays and what not.

Ozpom 01-22-2018 05:25 PM

Hi Kelly, I would like to join in this year and play. Unfortunately most of my friends now don't send cards but I like to keep the tradition going. I do, however, make thank you, get well and sympathy cards for my local golf club and try and make a few each month when I have time.

This month I only needed 3 birthday cards and have posted them against other challenges. I do need a couple in February and will need to make one of those soon to mail. I also have 5 card boxes that I need to cover this year and will put cards in them as gifts. I need motivating lol

Thank you for the challenge, albeit my numbers are low compared to others. Happy day

Hey girls!

The March thread is live. I'll be posting there in a minute.
By the weekend I should have the rest of the threads linked up. I just don't function well when Bob's home. Monday will mark the beginning of 6 weeks off work and keeping me company around the house ;-)
Thanks for your patience.

ScrappinCEO 02-27-2018 10:55 AM

Remember not to post your card links on this thread. Post them to one of the posting threads. Links are in the 2nd post of this thread.

We don't want to miss your cards ;-)

ScrappinCEO 03-13-2018 09:45 AM

Hey everyone!I couldn't find the list I sat and made one morning while having coffee with Bob. I redid the list this morning. Links will all be active within the hour - you know for you over achievers who get a jump on the months :-D

VSN is coming on on the 23/24. This is a great opportunity to get a jump on your cards. If my design is simple, I often cut for 5-10 while I'm cutting. Sometimes in different papers with specific people in my mind.

I hope to start sharing my own cards soon.

ScrappinCEO 03-13-2018 10:59 AM

Challenges posted for each month and links are live! Now to get the cards made ;-)

ScrappinCEO 03-16-2018 05:48 AM

Good morning everyone!Just a reminder.. if you're mailing EASTER cards, you probably want to to that by Monday or Tuesday of next week since Easter is on April 1 - yep.. April Fool's day. I don't think I ever recall that happening but I'm sure it has at some point.

Anyone remember? If so, have a funny story to share? Love to hear them!

ScrappinCEO 03-17-2018 04:34 AM

Good morning!

I found a video this morning by Stampin' Up! demonstrator Jackie Bolhuis. She has 2 awesome videos. One on cutting cardstock and the other on using DSP.

I'm linking the DSP one here because she uses the DSP to make QUICK cards for any occasion. So if you're behind on getting cards done - ::: clears throat ::: or need the ones for the first week in April 'yesterday', then this video should have you making basic cards in minutes. From there you can personalize them in a heartbeat.

ScrappinCEO 05-31-2018 06:41 AM

Hello Everyone!
Can you believe that tomorrow is June 1?
We are having record high temps here in MO. 15-20* above the average. and HUMID! I just want to find a pool and lay in it til fall.

I'll be posting to the June thread in the next day or two. Remember, we also have Father's Day in June so maybe think about a card for a lonely older gentleman who might need a little smile.

July is nearly gone! How can that be! :: looks at the cards still to be mailed :::

I can get them made but have a problem getting them mailed. Partly because I hate to leave the house.

Do you guys have a problem actually mailing cards? I'd love to hear

I now have a mailbox in front of my house and stick them in the box, and put the flag up, the mail person picks them up. International is more difficult, because there isn't a post office near by. So, I just put double the stamps on! :) Packages will be another story this Christmas.

cdimick 07-25-2018 03:47 PM

Once I've written in them and stamped and addressed an envelope, it isn't hard to get them in the mail if they just take regular postage because I'm out of the house four days of the week - and I pass two different post offices on my way to work. However, if I have to go into the post office to get an international stamp or need something to be weighed, that is more challenging...even though I do pass two post offices, LOL.

ScrappinCEO 07-26-2018 09:20 AM

I hate putting stuff in the mailbox to be mailed. Our postman isn't the most reliable. More than once I've gotten someone else's mail - or worse someone got ours. One gal got our credit card bill. She kindly sealed it up and dropped it in our box with an apology for opening it (she has the same card lol)

However, someone else got Bob's new Capital One card earlier this year. We called about not having gotten it so they canceled the card and gave him a new number. That one arrived without incident.

Chatterbox-1 08-19-2018 06:56 PM

Your monthly challenges have themes. Can you post to the challenge at any time throughout the year? For instance, I just found out a few weeks ago that I need a wedding card...which fits January "Celebration of Life" theme. Do I post my wedding card to the January theme now in August? If so, is this the only place I notify you that I posted in August to January or do I notify you on this Thread as well?

Julie Gearinger 08-19-2018 10:46 PM

Carlene, welcome to the AOCC Challenge :-) Kelly may suggest a different answer but I would recommend putting the card in the month that you need to mail it or the current month (for ex: August) versus posting in previous months.

The themes are a suggestion but I, personally have not participated with the theme yet (sorry, Kelly) since they have not met my needs :-)

Hugs and so thrilled that you may play along with us :-)

Chatterbox-1 08-21-2018 09:45 PM

Thank you Julie for your answer. So, I went ahead and posted my wedding card in January, but I will also post in August. In the future, I shall post to the month we are in.

Hi Carlene!
Welcome to the thread.
Julie is absolutely correct. The themes are simply a guideline. Post the card in whichever month you need it. If a challenge from another month inspires your card, that's just a bonus :-)
