Good morning and happy Wednesday. DH slept for the first time last night without the head bandage, and now there is a stain on his pillow. One spot still bleeds. We are washing his hair again today, the itch is driving him crazy, and his hair smells terrible, poor man. He’s doing better now, not as wobbly. He will be working one day at the estate sale this weekend but only half a day.

Has anyone heard of unryu handmade tissue paper with embedded leaves? One of the articles I read on bookbinding mentioned using this paper for covering chipboard for a journal, and marble print paper for the insides of the covers, called endpapers. Apparently this is a traditional way to make covers. Sorry for the rambling, but you know what this paper is? Mulberry paper!!! Remember way back when mulberry paper was all the rage? I still have a piece floating around here somewhere. Anyway, I ordered some from Amazon, it arrived yesterday, and oh my, it smells heavenly!

DH is wanting a coffee refill and the dog is asleep next to him, so it’s my turn to get coffee. Be back in a minute.

Photos of some of the lovely mulberry paper. And it arrived in such a gorgeous package, I was blown away. That’s the first photo.

Now I have to make another journal, just to use these beautiful papers!

Morning!
Gorgeous papers, Kandie!! I remember that type of paper. The only craft fair I was at years and years ago had lots of it, it was all the rage!

It's a warm 3 degrees this morning! LOL!

Jayne, so sorry for the mess you had, but you have to look at the bright side, your oven is clean.

Dagmar, so good to hear from you, sorry you are in lockdown. Not here but I still do not go out.
Have you been able to get vaccinated yet?

Jan, nice that you are able to move around a little more now and able to keep the local coffee shop in business.

Off to finally hit the shower, I'm slow today!

So much to read! All of the Alphas and family members seem to be healthy for now at least! Other than falls, cut fingers, banged up heads, etc.

I'm still sewing masks for friends, but did get a card made for Shelly's friend Kristin with my little Cricut Joy. I love that little toy! I sure helps when you're busy to get a card done quickly. I haven't been too creative lately...I guess I lost my mojo last week with all the headaches. I'm sure it will be back soon. That's the life of a crafter. Some days...so productive and other days...nothing. LOL

Stay healthy and inky dear Alphas. I'm playing Mahjong today with 2 friends. So no craft room again. Soon...

HUGS

Good morning! I'm running late this morning so probably won't get to comment on the Alphabet cards posted for Q just yet. I edited my last uploaded card because it is my Q card too - plus added 4 cards to my Christmas card stash...yay!

Jan, yay for being able to get to the nursery and get tomato plants. Home grown tomatoes are the best!

Sharon, I won't tell you about the temperatures here. Sorry yours are so cold.

Jayne, thanks for clearing that up about the island. I thought I must have missed some chat and I try to read everything carefully! With the world all going crazy, we have talked about the desire to have our own little island country.

Oh no, Jayne, to spilling your dinner. No barefoot walking in the kitchen for a while.

Jayne, I was a lurker for quite a while before I opened an account and then still, I didn't create and upload a card for a number of years. I was amazed at the tutorial section, such a great resource.

Shelly, I can do you one better. I have never made risotto. See, the prepositional phrase, "in the oven" was completely un-needed in my sentence! lol Did you tell your DH you were simply serenading him with your beautiful music?

Jayne, I hope you find your mojo soon! So annoying when "celebs" get to avoid the rules.

Rebekah, I'm with you in liking the cooler temps. Though I prefer to not get snow where I live simply because we really don't have the cars for it. Glad you are feeling lighter today!

Brrr, Dagmar, that is cold! I hope you are staying toasty and warm inside your home.

Glad to hear your DH is doing so well, Kandie. Sorry the itching is bothering him but it is such a good thing!

Beautiful papers, Kandie! I can't wait to see what you do with them.

A warm 3 degrees, Ann?! Enjoy!

I must dash off to work, I'll catch up on card commenting later. Chat with you later!

Jayne, I received your card today! At first I thought I wasn't allowed to open it until June 3rd and then I realized you write your day first and then the month. We write the month first and then the day. Makes me happy knowing I don't have to wait until June! LOL

Kandie, those mulberry papers are gorgeous. Where did you order them from?

Off to have lunch out cause dh is going to get a haircut and I am going with him, (even though I am desperate for some alone time, lol)

Good afternoon.

Kandie, those are some great papers. Love that envelope. I still have a bunch of mulberry paper, lots of different colors. I also have some handmade papers which are somewhere in my messy stash. Have you ever made paper. That's a fun process. Mine is all a bit thicker, and I haven't really played with putting flowers and stuff in it.

Morning everyone. Kandie sorry Ed’s head is still bleeding. I have those papers. As soon as I saw the white one with leaves I thought that’s in my stash and some of the others. I bought them in a pack when I was scrapbooking about 15 years ago and have never used them. Interesting to know what they can they be used for. Thanks for the tip.

Kathy, glad your card arrived. I sent out all birthday cards up until April as I thought I would be having surgery. It’s nice to be ahead lol. I’m glad you aren’t waiting until June either lol.

Rebekah poor Valentino.

Maybe you can get another one for Valentine’s Day.

Melody, I finally put up new photos of my art journal pages. You can see them properly now lol.

sending hugs to you all. Have a wonderful Thursday.

Default Hello

Happy Wednesday!
I had piano this AM, I am getting into the harder pieces, and have to work on rhythm and smoothness of my piece again this week. Then off to donate blood- they nag you alot if you are a Type O here : ) What they do at the blood center- if you are a Type O and your blood count is high enough, they take 2 units but only red cells- they reinfuse the plasma and platelets back in.... then, I have 16 weeks before they start nagging me to donate again! LOL

We had a dusting of snow overnight, but have more in the forecast for the weekend- hubby will be gone, so he will have to show me how to run the snowblower before he leaves Friday. The forecast for these crazy guys is not so great- it shows at least 50% chance of rain everyday- so may delay some of their baseball games.

Off to teach Religious Ed- will pop back on after that : )

Shelly

Kathy, I think you should wait until June to open your card...a lesson in patience... just kidding!

Shirl, did they let you go in with your DH for his haircut? I'm pretty sure I would have taken advantage of alone time which happens next to never for me these days.

Melody, making paper is one of those things I always wanted us to do when the girls were younger and we were home schooling. Somehow we never quite got to that one though.

Shelly, we are supposed to be going back into rain for the next few days. I'm quite happy to have that happen, you can keep the snow, OK?

ive been online researching wireless printers. I'm giving up for tonight. I want easy setup. I'm only planning to use it with my tablets so I don't want anything that has to be connected to a PC.

Good luck finding a new printer Kathy. DH just said to me when I’ve done my research I can have a small printer for my craft room. I’ve narrowed it down to a Canon Selphy or an Epsom based on recommendations.

Melody, I’ve never made my own paper. That would be a good challenge for the MMJ thread *wink*.

Shelly, happy classes.

We are having fun doing my family tree....another hobby lol. Fascinating.

Kathy before you decide I would check on ink prices as years ago I bought a cheap Epsom printer the inks were so expensive, now I have a canon and the inks are very reasonable,

Well our trip to the garden centre was a good drive out through the countryside but they didn’t have any tomatoe plants, not until next month and no Basil either, we did get the bark for the garden, it’s run by two sisters and the one who serves has never aged since we first met her about fifteen years ago.
the pesky blackbird keeps digging in it and throwing all over the place, I had just finished and half and hour later is was all over the floor, I hear it on my craft room roof eating olives, then the pips roll off and all over the roof!

my computer will be ready this morning, it’s been updating for 48 hours, she did say it’s stuff I wouldn’t know how to do so I don’t feel quite so inadequate, she’s put a little more memory in too, all for €45, she’s very helpful and doesn’t try to pressure you into buying things you don’t really need so a new laptop is on hold for another year, it would need to many external add ons so I could still use my cricut, printer and scanner.

Kathy I always have problems with the way you write the date in America, back to front from the way we do it, I posted your card Monday so hopefully it will arrive, also posted DIL for the week after your birthday so now I have to find a gift on Amazon I can send her!

Jan we have bark out the front in our verge that we have to maintain but doesn’t belong to us....I’ll never let this go will I lol? The birds also throw the olive tree pips onto our front garden or leave them on the top of our walls near our gate. The tree is in our neighbours garden and has blocked out our very small ocean views lol. I’m hoping they will chop some of it down soon. No one does a thing with the olives which are always hanging down over our fence. I was tempted to try bottling them but too much like hard work lol.

I finished 2 more of my March theme cards..that’s 3 down, 3 to go. I made all the panels and cut dies and stuff but nothing is grabbing me. I also need to make a card for Kristen. I have a great yoga chipboard set so will use some of that.

I started taking my BP yesterday and recording the results for the Dr. I have to take it 4 times a day. If it keeps going down and also my pulse, I might not be here soon. What it does tell me is I don’t need the beta blocker the specialist is recommending and that my other meds are working.

back to the tree we go.....

Jayne our neighbours at the back have five olive trees, they have never done anything with the olives but they’ve have it pruned every year into a box shape, they are huge and now tower above the dividing wall which is already over two metres high, we don’t mind as it blocks their views of our pool, they are always looking from the roof if we do anything!!!! The problem is that the ignorant man from the garden centre stands on our arbor roof to cut them if we aren’t in and the leaves fall into our garden, steve now sits in the garden when he comes and watches to make sure he uses a ladder instead, the other neighbour had one but has now cut it down as he said he was sick of the mess, the birds find them from somewhere drives me mad with the mess as the poop is massive and black!
a friend once gave us a bag full of olives to put in brine, honestly it’s such a long process and they smell awful, after a couple of weeks I threw them Away, our other friend did the same, much easier to buy them, ha,ha,

Good Morning,

More snow over here and freezing temperatures. I don`t like this kind of weather.

Ann, no I`m not getting vaccinated soon, right now the 80 years old people get their vaccination appointment.

Kandie I found some of those papers in my stash. They are beautiful, but I don`t want them to cut in pieces.

A few years ago I trieded to grow an olive tree in my garden. It didn`t work because of the cold winters we have usually. We love to eat them, so I buy them.

Shelly, my granddaughter is taking piano classes she loves it.

Have a good Thursday alphas..

Dagmar, here in Spain our 85 years old neighbour still hasn’t heard anything, it seems too many people in authority have jumped the line and had themselves and their families done, yesterday a priest was caught visiting an old people’s home so he could be done ahead of time, so disgusting.

Just had some lovely photos of our youngest GS, four, ,his Mum took him to the supermarket on his sledge, it’s all on pathways so no traffic, coming home he had all the shopping bags between his legs, holding on to the bags while DIL pulled him home, looks so cute.

Oh wow, olive trees. Interesting. We have friends that live in Greece and make olive oil to sell. I’ve heard it’s delicious.

Morning! I didn’t get up in time to stamp. boo. I have been turning my alarm off instead of hitting snooze. Not good!

Another cold deep freeze kind of day. Looks like the sun will shine though, so that helps.

We need to start school soon and get through this day. The week has flown by and it’s almost the weekend again.

Shelley, I will get a card made for your neighbor’s daughter for sure. I just need to wake up in time to stamp!!! But I usually catch up on the weekend.

Yes olive oil is lovely and used for everything here, I think you would need quite a few trees unless you can do it yourself, we’ve been watching a program about a young woman who opened a glamping site in Portugal, she had olive trees, a lot of them and a farmer took them to be made into oil for her, she was selling it to a restaurant in England.

Good morning.

Ann, remember how to tear mulberry paper, drawing with a water brush and then gently tearing the paper? So all the pretty leaves and things wouldn’t be cut off!

Jayne, I absolutely would have cried if I had dumped hot food all over the oven door and the floor!!! Oh my gosh, what a mess!

Dagmar, how long is your lockdown? Is it from the new variation of the virus or the regular one we’ve had for almost a year?

Jan, oh how fun to be able to walk to coffee shops and enjoy a cup and a treat! Nothing like that anywhere close to me.

Gracie, are your headaches gone now?

Sharon, the weather is still in the teens here as well, 14 right now, supposed to be lows in the minus numbers at night, Brrrrrrrrrr!

Shirl, I bought the papers from Amazon, and they are so lovely, and came with a little thank-you card and some little felt animals in a small bag as a treat. The Seller is the Ratree Shop. I gave them 5 stars.

Melody, I remember making papers using my blender! I could never get nice edges though. They always looked ragged.

Shelly, thank you for the totally darling Valentine card, it’s terrific, and I must say, you are one BUSY lady!

Kathy, my printer is connected to my laptop, and I had to go buy a 16’ coed because I kept tripping over the darn thing.

Jayne, absolutely great idea about paper making for a fun MMJ challenge!

I received my latest Ancestry update, I love that the website continues to refine the ancestry data. I am now listed at 42% UK and 39% Scottish and Irish. DH’s DS2 said that’s called Scotch Irish. How fun!

My family tree journal is on its way to my son, I hope he appreciates all the hard work put into it.

Jan, yay on having your computer back!!!

Jayne, BP four times a day? And I’m so glad to hear your meds are working!

I never knew olives grew on trees, lol!

Good morning, Rebekah and everyone I missed!

Kandie how are you enjoying you new toy, the cutting machine? I’d love one!

my computer is home, steve set it up all fine but then my MacBook Air wouldn’t connect to the WIFI upstairs, well I took the gismo out to reset it and it came on, somehow the booster was blocking the signal!

ive been making a card for the Q challenge, still sorting papers, takes me ages to decide.

Kathy, I have a really cheap HP and am enrolled in their Instant Ink program. At the time I bought my $39.00 printer at Walmart they still had a free level which I am still in. They will send me ink before I run out. (It is on internet and they keep tract of ink levels and pages-printed). It is wireless and we can both print from our iPads and my laptop. I am on free level which gives me 15 pages a month, but the lowest level now is still only 99 cents a month. It goes up from there. I have printed lots of digital sand they come out better than my more expensive printers ever did! LOL. If you need more than 15 one month, you get another 10 for an additional 99 cents that month, and they rollover if you don’t use them. So far I haven’t run out of ink! Lasts longer than any other cartridges ever did!
it will be nice not to go to store for ink. Great for someone who doesn’t print a lot. It is a 2700 ink jet.
Annette put me on to it. Good luck! 2732 all in one

I have had this since Sept. 25th and have never needed ink since I installed what they sent me. It needed ink when I bought it. I think someone bought it, used it and then took it back! LOL

Kandie and Jan, I sure wish money grew on trees! I love using olive oil Jan...much better flavor to me. Kandie, those mulberry papers are beautiful. I still have some in my stash...I do use it occasionally. And yes, knock on wood, my headaches have disappeared! Yay

Dagmar, brrrr, I hate the cold weather...that's why we winter in Arizona. I hear it's well below zero in Wisconsin. It seems the Northern states are getting a polar blast of very cold air. That's definitely not for me!

Catherine and Shirl, I value my alone time, too. I'm going to Phoenix today until Monday to watch my DD's 4 dogs. They are going on a mini hiking vacation. It is going to be sunny and in the 70's. My kind of weather! Love it and I'll get some alone time...no schedule...sleep, eat, craft whenever I want to.

Ann, Sharon, Melody, Kandie, Rebekah stay warm with that frigid weather! Brrrrrr!

Jan, I'm glad you got your computer back home. We've become so used to our technology. I'd rather have my computer than TV if I had to make a choice.

Jayne, I'll have to go check out your gallery...I haven't been keeping up lately. Glad you're finding time to get inky. I monitored my BP for a month and it seems to be staying low since getting meds. Much better anyway, but I think I'm more tired these days.

Shelly, I hope you don't get too much snow when your hubby is gone!

Hello to Vicky, Linda, Shirl, Annette, Kelly and anyone else I've missed. Stay warm ladies! I need to pack for my mini getaway.

Morning!

Yes, we are getting the cold blast this week! It was 3 below when I crawled out of bed and turned up the heat this morning! Waited another hour in bed till it warmed up! No wonder I am behind today!

Olives! Yuck can not stand to eat them but do use olive oil all the time!

I sure do understand about the birds eating and throwing stuff around! We had crab apple trees in the front yard, six of them and the birds, bees and deer were always at them. What a mess they were! Noticed I said were! All of them my sons chopped down, no more mess!!

The final thing that made me say get rid of them was that bats were hanging in them at night! Oh yuck to that, would take the dogs out at night and see them and hear them in the trees! Scary! Even though I know they eat mosquitoes, I still didn't want them around. One of the bats was hiding under our shutters on the top floor!

Kandie, how are you feeling after the shot? Is Ed doing ok too?

I still can't get in for the vaccine, so many others taking the spots when they open up.

Good morning! Just to let you know, if you don't hear from me, I am being cancelled. That's the word that was left on my cell phone early this morning because they've noticed fraudulent activity on my social security and, if they don't hear from me, they will be cancelling it. I'm so concerned! Not! I've been hearing about people getting these types of phone calls but, until recently, I hadn't gotten any. I got the social security scam call this morning (so glad I put my phone on do not disturb!) and, a few weeks ago, I finally got the car warranty one. I no longer feel left out!

Kathy, I agree with Jan about checking the ink prices. It sounds like Sharon has a sweet deal going. We have an Epson and I really like it. Before it, we had a Brother. I'm glad to hear that Sharon is having a good experience with HP because I wasn't happy with the last HP printer I had. Good luck with your research.

Oh, Jayne, if paper making becomes an MMJ challenge, I need to find time to do it. Like I said, I always wanted to try that with the girls when we were home schooling but just never got to that activity.

Olive trees...what a mess they make! In Southern California there were a number of them in the neighborhood where we lived and it was annoying to take a walk. You had to watch your step to avoid stepping on the fallen olives too. That said, I love olives. It was an eye opener when we were in France to find that there are so many different kinds of olives too.

Jan, yay for having your computer back. Sorry the nursery didn't have everything - another outing though, right?

Sorry you are having such cold weather, Dagmar.

Rebekah, sometimes sleeping in a little is needed. But I know it feels like you are playing catch up all day. I use the weekends to catch up too.

Kandie, how is your DH doing?

Gracie, my girls have wished that money grew on trees. I told them if that were the case, it wouldn't be valuable and something else would be the currency. You are up and posting earlier today (we often post at nearly the same time...like we are in the same time zone or something!). Sounds like fun in Phoenix for you, yay!

I'm with you, I'd rather have my computer than the TV. Oh wait, that is what we did! We haven't had TV since we moved from our house down the hill. Just streaming stuff on the internet.

Well, another day of paid work for me. Chat with you later.

Good morning.

Kandie, I think the ragged edges are part of the charm of the handmade papers. But, you can cut the edges if you want them straight.

Had to laugh at you buying a coed! LOL

Catherine, at least they're not coming to take you to jail. Those junk calls from the IRS said they would get law enforcement involved! Some Bethany keeps calling that wants to talk to be me about energy options in my area. And Jason from energy advocate keeps calling. He's alive person in the last time he called I told him to remove my name from his list. The car warranty one called this morning.

Rebecca, it sounds like you need one of those rolling alarm clocks. Have you seen them on TV when the alarm goes off it rolls off your nightstand and around the room and keeps beeping so you have to get up to shut it off!

Catherine it is amazing how many different types of olives there are, our son said he didn’t like the ones in tins,I had to tell him that even the ones that are loose come out of a tin, on the market they empty them into containers, ha,ha
olives are an acquired taste I think, I used to hate them but they grew on me, in summer with a glass of wine. our youngest GS loves them,

yes another trip to the nursery next month, I’m sowing the seeds of a plan as id like a line/ kumquat tree but it would have to be in a pot, steve hates things in pots so I’m putting the idea forward gently, at the moment he making a joke of the idea,

sharon I have that facility on my printer but I never knew what it meant, thanks for the explanation.

Good afternoon, everyone!

Jan, you mean... money DOESN'T grow on trees? Well then, what about all the singles that are on the bedroom floor after DH has been outside? I thought they were stuck to his boots, lol! Actually, they fall out of his pockets when he puts his wallet on the dresser. I find change all over the floor, too!

Actually, we've paid off our livingroom couch, chair and the bedroom set. DH paid it off, but I'm the one that was making the payments because that's how I talked him into it. Now that he's paid it off, I have more cash for crafts!!!

I adore the Brother Scanncut! I'm still learning how to use it, but it's getting a bit easier. I haven't tried any of the complicated stuff yet.

Gracie, I love olive oil too and love to cook with it. And I love cheese and crackers and olives and fruit just to munch on, both black and green! The olives, not the fruit!

Ann, I think I had a 24-hour reaction to the vaccine that I didn't find listed on the sheet I was given. I woke up yesterday with diahrea and kept chasing myself to the bathroom. Ed calls it the "30 steps to the outhouse by Will E Makeit" song. And by midmorning I ached in every joint. But by bedtime it was pretty well over and nothing today, feel just fine. Ed had the fatigue, he slept a lot the first day but was also fine the second day. I hear it's round 2 that sometimes affects people.

I'm puttering around with chipboard and a sheet of the mulberry paper. I had folded some pastel purple sheets into sets to use in a book and then didn't use them, so I'm putting one of the papers with bits of purple and leaves onto a couple of chipboard covers and a spine. Then I'm going to try another binding technique, and if I ruin it I'm going to slap myself silly, because I only have one sheet of that particular design!

Kathy, are you still watching Walker? We gave up on it. I think the show should have just been called Texas Ranger and no mention made of the name Walker altogether. He's nothing at all like Chuck Norris.
