Gracie we walked down to the end of our road last night and it looked like just one bright star and then DH told me it was Jupiter and Saturn conjunction and won’t happen again in our lifetime lol.  We only had binoculars but I could see them separated..not the rings. Lots of people with big fancy telescopes down there.  What a great experience you had.

We walked along the beach again today.  So beautiful.

Sharon, hope you haven’t had more earthquakes.

I need to move as lots to do today..happy Tuesday everyone.

That's great Jayne! At least you got to see them!

I just finished uploading the last of the VSN cards and wouldn't you know it my computer died! LOL My last card was uploaded 15 minutes late, but I had to go see the "Christmas Star." It feels good to challenge myself to get them all done anyway!

Gracie and Jayne, glad you got to see it!

I think I heard that it may still be able to be seen for the next couple of nights.

Night all,

Morning!  We didn’t get to see anything here, too cloudy.  Though friends 10 min away said they say it, but they have a telescope and live in the country where it’s nice and dark!

I didn’t win super mom yesterday by any means.  Hope today can be better.  Just need to let go of expectations.  “Oh we are on vacation, I’m going to get so much done!”  Nope, I’m still the mom!  . In a few days, I’ll have more me time b/c then the rest of the family will be on break too.

Good morning to everyone.  No Like button yet?  I’d hate to be the programmers right now.  They must be so frustrated.

Karen!  So good to hear from you!

Sharon, I’ve never had pistachio cookies, but they sure sound (and I imagine they smelled) wonderful!  Yum!  And I don’t remember you posting about earthquakes before.  Is this normal?

Linda, so proud of you for feeling well enough to respond to cards!

Catherine, holy cow on those curtains!  They would give me a headache every time I looked at them, lol.

Ann, I’m sorry to hear about your Aunt Mimi.  Holidays are the worst when we lose loved ones during them, because the memories are always there.  I lost my mother on December 4 and my dad on January 6.  DH lost his grandmother on Thanksgiving day.  We remember the losses every year.

Kathy, food-related distress is miserable.  I hope it passes quickly.  And I’ve been wearing my copper gloves.  I do think they help, although one of the finger edges on my right hand keeps sticking to my craft papers!

Shirl, we just heard on tv this morning about the Christmas Star!  DH hopes it is a sign of better things to come.

Jan, I love that you and your DH go for walks together in the morning.  I would love to go for walks with DH around the neighborhood but he walks so slow and I get impatient, bless his sweet heart.

Shelly, yes, we have the clouds and rain here as well.  Are you getting predictions of possibly snow on Christmas?  Supposedly high of 10 on the 25th with snow- maybe.  A lot of the time we get your “lake effect” weather, thank you for that, lol! (Not!)

Gracie, what a terrific experience to go with your friends to look through their telescope!  Gosh, I wish we had a high-powered telescope.  I would love to see the stars and planets!

Good morning, Rebekah, Melody, everyone else I missed.  I’ll tell you about my doctor appointment in the next post.  Got to get up and get DH and I some more coffee!

With all the star gazing I do, I don't know why I never thought about a telescope! Probably out of my price range for a good one.

Kandie did you get the ones with half fingers? That's what I have. If you have trouble with them sticking try some micropore tape around the edge. It's a very soft, flexible bandage tape.

Kathy, yes I did get the half fingers, and that’s a terrific idea about the tape, thanks!

Good morning! Almost afternoon for some and night for Jayne!

Kathy, our friends bought a "used" telescope last Christmas as a present to each other. I guess they found a really good deal. We're so lucky they invite us along now and then. We also got to see the moon's craters. I love the night sky! It's so amazing! I've never looked at the sky through a telescope before...so cool.

Happy Tuesday ladies,
We were not able to see stars- the skies are all cloudy and gray again today!

We have been watching the seperate stars for about 2 weeks and wanted to see them as they came together!  Will keep an eye to the sky the next few days!  Very cool this happened right at Christmas time : )

I am wrapping up loose ends as far as gifts, got cards out to friends and family and need envelopes -slimlines- to send out the last two.....

We were going to have dinner with DD1 at her place tomorrow, but she has cancelled, so we have an extra evening to make gift cards, etc....  we use the credit cards to get $$$ back for one and hotel rooms on the other.  We have $500 in gift cards as a result, so those were easy gifts!  Then the kids can chose whatever they want. Wahoo!
I use the cresit card for everything- groceries, gas, etc.....  Only problem with doing that....cash leaves no trail!!!

Waving hello to all!!!

Shelly

Just read this in the paper, made me laugh

My mind is like an internet browser
19 tabs are open
3 of them are frozen
And  I have no idea where the music is coming from

Steve  read about a woman who said she turned her crafting hobby into a £250,000  business, he wants to know how come I’ve spent that much and never made a penny!

Jan, tell him you've saved on not having to buy cards! LOL We all know our cards are worth $1,000 each!

That internet joke was funny! Sounds like my brain.

We got to see the planets tonight!  So cool!  I drove home a different way to enjoy from a higher point.  Sipping some tea and having a cookie that some friends brought over.  Oh my!!

Hi all!

Just did a 20 min walk around, but parts of the sidewalks are not cleared. Still icy chunks. I thought for sure all our snow would have been gone by today.

Jan, that was a funny! And yes Steve. Hobbies cost a lot of dough, lol........

Kathy, should we start a Go Fund Me for you to get a telescope? lol.

Can’t believe it’s almost Christmas, collecting the turkey this morning, steve will bone it and stuff it and sew the body back together, legs will be frozen for stews, tonight we are having turkey soup with the carcass, I love that, our boys used to complain about turkey soup as we always had it on Boxing Day before our cold meat and pickles!

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Xmas.  Our fridge is bursting at the seams and at the most there will only be 3 of us lol...maybe just the 2 of us in Xmas day lol.

Jan, yum to Turkey soup. Enjoy it all.

My niece who is in her mid 20s in the uk has the virus..a mild case but she is isolated. My brother and his family so far have tested negative.  Crazy time they are all having and are expecting the whole country to be back in lockdown during the next week.  My nephew is in total lockdown already in London.

Wishing you and your families a very merry Xmas and hope you have a happy day as best as you can given these crazy times.  May 2021 be a healthier and happy year for the world.  Keep safe and well.  Hugs

Morning!

Jayne, prayers your niece gets over the virus quickly!   Lockdowns are coming I guess since people can't do what they are suppose to do.  So sad.

Thunderstorms woke me up this morning!  They were so loud!  I thought of Sharon with the earthquakes!

Doing laundry and house stuff today plus need to post some cards for the challenges!

Reminder, that there is NO Alphabet challenge this week due to the holiday!

Later everyone, enjoy your day!

My son just texted that his girlfriend tested positive for covid. He's been sick a few days now. The last time he was here was the 13th and he wasn't sick then. We have no symptoms so I'm assuming he wasn't exposed at that point. we will be alone for Christmas but I'm ok with that. We will take food and medicine to him on Christmas day but leave it on his doorstep.

I just walked down to get my mail and the mailman was coming back through. He stopped in front of me and thanked me for the gift I put in the mailbox the other day for him. I thought that was very nice of him. It was just a small flashlight and some candy in one of my boxes.

Prayers for your family Kathy and son's girlfriend. Sweet to put something in the box for your mailman and nice that he could thank you in person.

Jayne, we have a full fridge too, and dh is picking up the ordered dinners at 3p.m. today.

I had originally requested 5:30 but phoned them to see if I could change the time of day.  Driving in the dark plus rush hour traffic could be an issue in my mind. We will just put them in our fridge and heat up when we want to.

Going out to the vitamin store and possibly pick up a few grocery items.

Our snow did not melt that we got on Monday like I thought it would have.  We have sunshine though today. Walked to the post office to mail birthday cards. Chunks of iciness on certain areas of the sidewalks but we manage alright.

Anne, you are making up for me lol. I am behind on letters.

Shirl

Good  Evening,

Ann sending hugs...sorry to hear of your Aunt's passing.

Karen so great to see your post.

Kathy, I hope your hands will get better, sorry to hear about your son and his girlfriend.

Jayne, hope your niece gets over the virus soon.

We won't see our granchild tomorrow on Christmas eÈve. She and my son and his wife are in Quarantine until the end of the year. She has no  symptoms until now. A  student in her class was infected, so all students and parents have to stay in quarantine  for two weeks.
They are checked by the health board, each day.

Sending hugs your way, good night.

We are getting wind and flood warnings for tomorrow night. Our electric company emailed us to be prepared for possible power outages.

Sorry Kathy to hear of your son and his GF, and Dagmar hope your family are all ok. It’s hard when you can’t see family. This virus needs to really be kicked in the butt by 2021.

Keep safe and well everyone...I’m signing off for a while.  It’s Xmas eve here.  Enjoy whatever your plans.

Hugs

Merry Christmas Eve Jayne! Enjoy the holidays!

Kathy sorry to hear about your son and his girlfriend. I'm sure he'll appreciate the food and medicine.

We will be spending Christmas alone. So many people who will be alone on Christmas this year. Thinking of everyone who misses family!

Hugs and Merry Christmas to all my wonderful Alpha Sisters. Thank you for all the lovely Christmas cards!

Default Hello

Merry Christmas to all my Alpha friends!!!  Hope your day is full of blessings, even though many celebrating alone!

Kathy- so sorry to hear about sons GF and Covid.  Hope he stays well! Be safe in that storm!
Jayne- full fridge sounds fabulous- have a fun and festive Christmas too!

Dagmar- beautiful decorations!

We DID see the star last night- just for a brief few minutes- when we wanted to photograph it, it went under the cloud cover....darn!

We all had Covid tests as DD2 wants to be with family for Christmas, and her test has come back positive.  She is in Virginia, so I cannot leave anything at her doorstep....  I am very sad!  She is stuffed up and has a headache.  She has no thermometer, but had chills today, so I am guessing she has a temp too.  Our tests and DD1 still pending.
She has allergies like me, so yesterday her symptoms sounded like sinus congestion.....

Our gifts are all wrapped and ready to go (wrapped tonight).  DD1 is going to drive out tomorrow to pick hers up and drop our off I think.

Hugs and fabulous and beautiful celebrations tomorrow and Christmas Day.  We have decided to watch mass on TV instead of going to church- many of my rosary group are decided to stay home as well.

Shelly

Merry Christmas Eve!  Cozy day at home by the fire I think...it’s 8* feels like -9*.  I got a frozen facial just taking the dog out quick this morning!

Kids and DH are making gingerbread cookies today.  Not my thing, so I find some solitude.  Today I might just cozy in and read a book.

Just got my Teapotter’s card done for this week.  A fun technique to try!
