Shirl, I think the only way you can add a photo right now is my attachment.

Do you mean attachment by email? Because the insert image function doesn't work.

No, hit reply (not quick reply).  Down below the box is a strip box that says manage attachments.  Click that.  Another box pops up - click on browse, find your photo and insert it, then upload, and close that box.  Submit reply as normal.

You can do it with the quick reply box as well, but you have to 'go advanced' to find the manage attachments box.

Is she a lap cat? Yum on the cookies. I would say I'll be right over, but that would be a trip and a half, lol.....

I just made a phone call to a friend who I had not talked to for a few months. So good to connect finally.

Wow lots of chat.  Kathy and Shirl I sent sis Vicki a birthday card and no idea if it got there. Mail is crazy this year.

Jan, yep we called them trimmings.  I’m sure I will bring out the tree in a week or two but the thought doesn’t make me feel jolly lol.  Xmas this year doesn’t make me feel jolly..bah humbug. I’ve only sent cards to family and they were store bought...yep..naughty I know but I haven’t made many Xmas cards. I find the whole Xmas thing so commercialised here.  Xmas when I was growing up was simple and we would go to church and it usually snowed.  All the street kids would get out our sledges and build snowmen and have snowball fights, and we would have Turkey and all the trimmings for lunch and everyone except me would fight to get the pud with the sixpence in.  I don’t like mince pies, Xmas cake or pud..but give me the custard..mmmm.  I just would like simple this year.

My cousin died yesterday in the UK. She had been in hospital for the past month with pneumonia. They told her hubby she would be going home and after he spoke with her she died a couple of hours later. She was older than me and the last time I saw her after 30+ years was 2 years ago when we visited the UK.  I’m glad I caught up with her then. It seems surreal that she’s gone....it reminds me of how fragile life is.  I keep wondering whether I will get to see my Aunt, sister and brother again. Overseas travel may be allowed by 2022 but whether we will go or not is another question. Oh well, I must not dwell on things and keep positive.  Sad sad times and another reason I would like this year over.

Time for me to move...wish me luck and hope my mojo flies back in today.

Have a wonderful week ladies. Hugs

Kitty is a he and he is a lap cat now, but he wasn't always.

I'd mail you some cookies but with mail service the way it is they'd be moldy by the time you got them!

Melody, I missed seeing your post of the snowflake ornaments. Beautiful!

Hi Jayne, sorry to hear about your cousin. Such a shock for her hubby who was told she would be going home.
Your Christmas memories sound wonderful. I love it all, even Christmas cake which most people do not like. And yes, I love custard too. It is fine to just want something simple too.

I bought some Christmas cards this year and usually do, and I am not going to feel bad about it at all. I love cards, bought or made!

Thanks Kathy for the cookie thoughts. It is the thought that counts.

Oh right your kitty is a he! I like when they are lap cats, although when we had ours, I would just about be ready to get up and she would jump up on my lap. How do they know, lol.

Linda I’m sorry you feel sad.

Jayne so sorry to hear about your cousin, how awful to think she was going home and then being given that news.

Shirl I love your decoration, especially the price,

Steve’s mum loved putting up decorations she would hang them from the wall to the light in the middle, round the walls, with balloons too, around the mirror, she had them everywhere, it would have driven me mad if I lived there!

Thanks Jan,  I have to remember to keep the oasis watered that the boughs are stuck into.
I was wondering where you were today, so I am glad you popped on. What did you get up to today?

We just finished watching the last episode of Undoing. Riveting. Based on a book called "I Should Have Known"........David Kelly of Big Little Lies, Boston Legal etc. did an excellent job of writing the screenplay. Such good actors.

Wow, lots of chatter today...yay! I have been busy. I had three main things I wanted to get done today. I have completed two of them and made progress on the third so I'm happy about that. (I also got some other things done that weren't in my big three.)

Ann, putting up the tree can be just for you. Something pretty for the season. I know, it is a lot of work but still lovely to look at. I've been focused on other things but we will be getting the tree put up.

Shirl, I loved seeing your chatty post. So your dad worked for Ford? I don't know what it was about Fords but my dad didn't like them. My mom bought a Ford LTD without his knowledge and told him that he could tell his friends she didn't consult him. Well, that LTD changed his mind about Fords and they got Maynard, the Galaxy 500 next.

Sorry about your SIL, will keep her in my prayers. Would you refresh my memory on her name?

Ann, do you know if Vickster has gotten the mail we've all sent to her? I also sent her a birthday card and some other cards as well.

Kathy, hmmm, will some chocolate jump in your cart tomorrow at Walmart?

I sure hope the site update fixes things!

Sorry you are sad, Linda. It is a hard time of year when missing someone.

Shirl, love your deck decor, so pretty - and a lovely price tag too.

Jayne, so sorry to read about your cousin. What a shock for her husband. I'm glad you had the chance to catch up with her.

DH and I are just finishing the last available episode of The Crown. It has been interesting to watch but one must remember that it is fiction based on actual events.

We have been discussing foregoing Christmas presents this year and buying a new couch instead. We need it rather desperately.

We didn’t get up to much, walked on the Paseo, it’s very quiet as not many restaurants have reopened, I played in my craft room for a while, the weather is warm too.
Shops aren’t allowed to open here on Sunday.

I keep seeing the Undoing mentioned,  I’ve never seen it over here, is it sky or Netflix?

Catherine we usually buy something we need instead of surprises nowadays, we tell the family not to send gifts as postage is so high, we give them money, the GSs money goes into their savings accounts, apparently the two eldest GSs save their pocket money too.

Jan, it is on HBO here.

Hi Catherine! I thought you would like all the chatter today, lol. Thanks for your prayers. My sil is Wendy and my brother is Bruce.

Fun about your Ford story. Glad you liked them in the end. My Dad probably would not like that we drive Nissan cars now! We did have a Tempo we drove for 18 years.

I am behind on the Crown. I still have a few episodes to finish off season 3 but am looking forward to season 4 cause it is about Diana.

Ha, the CAS challenge is all about what shows we have been watching on t.v. lately.

That would be an easy one for me then, just put a crown on the card! lol

My dad wouldn't like the story of my parents' experience with their Tempo. They sold their Corolla to DH and I and bought a brand new Tempo to replace it. I think they paid more in maintenance and repair costs (even with my dad doing most of the work) every YEAR than we paid on the Corolla the rest of the time we owned the Corolla. We definitely got the better end of that deal. I told them their Tempo must have been built on a Monday or Friday!

Jan, I would love to see our living room with a new couch and love seat. I have never liked the fabric on what we have, they were given to us by a friend though so free which was a fabulous price and they have been a blessing. We have never purchased a new couch in all of our years of marriage so I think it is about time.

Default Hello

So much chatter! We have made it back home!

I know, against advise- we traveled to North Carolina- both girls quarentined and were tested for Covid, and if I did not want to go, I would have been home alone. Three adults and a 70# dog in a car for 12 hours.  I did well- and the family dtopped every 2 1/2 hours for me to get out and stand, walk, stretch! Helps in a way to have the dog- he needs to get out and go potty : )

We rented a house and just the 4 of us- rural area and so many state and National parks close by- gorgeous Blue Ridge mountains!  We hiked alot!  My kids are so out-doorsy!

Oh Gracie- you do need bubble wrap!  I am suprised you did not have a HUGE headache!  Hope you are feeling OK!

Sharon- glad you are feeling better too!  I was worried about you!  And, Wow- crazy news about an earthquake too!

Jayne- listen to your stomach about your medical issues- lol  Your intuition knows alot : )   So sorry about your SIL too.  Your vegetable is called Eggplant here- I have never made it, but an Italian  church elder we were close to used to make Eggplant parmesean and would bring it over for my husband : )  Goodness, he has never had any quite as good as hers!

Jan- hope the water coming into your craft room did not damage anything!!!  Glad you were able to Facetime relatives- you have people in many timezones, don't you!!!

Dagmar- our weather sounds similar, except- we have had a dusting of snow last Wednesday and are supposed to get another ound tomorrow....  However- the sun will be out!  LOL

Kandie- I am wondering if you can add some pages in your journal about music of the era???  If not clothes, so much good music from that time!  LOL, tell hubby that my DH put Christmas lights over the patio this summer- and the squirrels went to town and nibbled them all up!  Apparently they cover the wires with oils- maybe peanut- and the squirrels are attracted to it- and our neighbor had his all nibbled up as well.....

Melodie- what beautiful ornaments!  What small size crochet hook do you use for those gorgeous ornaments???

Ann- our city sent out an email asking for everyone to brighten up the city with lights!  We have garland up and will light it up and get the tree up this week. I do like your idea of putting up a couple of houses inside for you and your viewing pleasure!  And, how do you like your new winter parka??? Nice kids!

Kathy- remind me NOT to buy that candy : )  I am trying NOT to eat sweets- need to get some weight off! While the girls went to get a few groceries, I asked them to pick up TP if they had any- we are wiped out here- no paper towels, wipes or TP at all!!!  Total empty racks!
Your cookies sound delicious : )

Catherine- we are also watching the crown- it is a little depressing from Princess Di's perspective!!!  The lack of support she gets- so sad!  I can see why Prince WIlliam wants his wife out of the limelight!

Shirl- beautiful decoration and wonderful how much it cost you!  Many of our ornaments are hand painted porcelains by my Mother, so love putting up the tree just to see them!  Then, I love to see all of the ornaments the kids made.  I also try to collect ornaments we collect when we travel.

We came home to news a young 60 yr old esteemed attorney- father of 4-his son used to play football with our son in elementary school-and a daughter played basketball with Stephi- woke up with a terrible headache last Wednesday, and collapsed and could not be revived.  Every day is a gift- but still- such sad news!!!

I am looking forward to getting back in my craft room and catching up on Alpha cards- and yes Ann- a Zentangle card as well!!!

Shelly

Catherine I think new furniture would be a wonderful Christmas gift for the whole family!

We put a lot of miles on our Tempo. In 1996 we did a month long rode trip through Wash, Ore. Cali, Nevada, and Arizona. My dh had worked on the Bennett Dam up north for a long stint that year, and he wanted a long holiday. My inlaws were still alive then and they took Willow our cat for us.

Shelly, that is so awful about the 60 yr. old. So sad.

Interesting about the squirrels ruining the Christmas lights.

Your trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains reminds me of the Jan Karon Mitford novels. Doesn't she live around there?  So great for you all to enjoy nature like you did from the sounds of it.

Gracie..cooeee...how are you feeling today?  Sharon, how are you going?  Hope you are both improving.

Welcome home Shelly. It sounds as though you had a wonderful time. Sorry to hear of your friends passing. We also have an international tree. I buy an ornament from every country we travel to.  We call aubergines eggplants too lol.  It depends on which shop you go to lol.

Shirl I forgot to say that your ornament is gorgeous and a bargain. We have watched the Crown and waiting for the next series with Di in it. We still haven’t started the Undoing..maybe tonight. Jan, it’s on Foxtel here...I think that’s like Sky..not sure.

Jan, what have you been creating?  I went to make some more BGs and cards...totally stuffed up..again. I’m beginning to think that I’m overthinking things and should just keep it simple. I just don’t have the motivation to do much.

Catherine, yay to new furniture.  I hope you don’t have hassles like we did.

Kandie, I would still make the journal..I’m sure she will love it.

Melody, beautiful star ornaments.

Ann, how are you going?  Hope you are getting some downtime.
Kathy, life’s short, eat the choccies....send me salted caramel or chocolate nuts please lol.
Linda, hope you are feeling happier today.

Hi to anyone else I’ve missed...not often I catch up lol.  Time for chicken risotto....then chill time. Take care everyone

Jayne I’m still messing with ribbon,

We put a lot of miles on our cars, a trip to England is a few thousand just there and back.

Shelly good to hear you are home safe, sounds a lovely trip,

we are all hoping for a get together next may, if we can fly again, our sons are hoping to come to Spain for a family get together for our golden wedding anniversary, it’s been a few years since our sons managed to be here at the same time since the GSs started school, I’m trying not to get my hopes up yet though with things as they are.

We don’t have any of those channels on the tv, we are on the edge of the footprint for our two metre satellite dish, we could have cable tv but we don’t watch enough to warrant the cost every month although we might have too eventually.

I wouldn’t  watch the crown, we hear enough about the royal family in the newspapers without watching programmes about them, sick of hearing about how the poor queen won’t be able to have all her family over for Christmas, will she be able to go to sandringham as normal or rough it in Windsor castle, who cares when hundreds are dying and the rest of us cant we see our families at all.
Sorry to have a rant but it really annoys me when some people haven’t seen anyone at all for months because they have to isolate and will have a lonely Christmas too.

Good morning.  Lots and lots of chatter!  Shirl, I love that decoration, it is so pretty, and the price!

Shelly, glad you could spend time with family and in such a nice place for hiking.  I would love it and so would most our family.  Our D.d had rented a place in 2016 for out 50th in the Blue Ridge mountains.  We did a lot of hiking.

We are probably scrooges, as we are not bothering to put up the tree u less DD and family can come at Christmas.  Too much work for just us.

Jayne, I am so sorry about your cousin.  Such a sentiment shock.  It seems the older we get, the more deaths of friends and family there are.  A sad fact of life.  If we live too long, all our friends will be gone.  Ok, sorry, I am being morbid!

Linda, I am missing my mom, too. She kept journals, and I have been reading them lately.  They bring me closer to her.  I am thankful for her doing these journals.  She has been gone six years, and I can read them without crying now.

How are you doing Gracie?  Is your head still sore.  It hurts me to think of your head.  I do think they need to bubble wrap you.
Jan, I think it would get old hearing about the Queen as much as you say.  Do you hear that much in Spain?  I hope things work out for May with your family?  Surely one of these days this will be over!

Kathy, glad you have kitty for company while the boys are off hunting.  Just don’t overdose on chocolate while they are gone.

Hi, Dagmar and Melody, and Catherine.  I can’t remember everything I read.

I wonder how Kandie and Ann are doing today.

I am better!  Last night, I was even in my craft room, making some die-cuts to include in Christmas cards.  LOL

Good morning! Well, it is back to work (and school for DD2) today. We were all enjoying the holiday. As I type this, DH is behind me working away at our dining room table (which has been a desk for him more this year than a table for us).

Shelly, it sounds like a lovely time you had. I have friends that have moved from here to North Carolina and they have been visiting Biltmore and Jamestown and all sorts of places over the holiday. (The dad is an avid poster on Instagram and FB.)

As for The Crown, I keep reminding myself that it is fiction, so not necessarily how it happened. Watching it though, has made me realize that I don't understand how the government works in the UK.

So sad about the 60 year old attorney. It is shocking for the family when that happens. One of our church elders was about that old when he dropped dead of a heart attack. He had just played a game of tennis (and won), said he wasn't feeling too well, and dropped dead on the court. He always said that he hoped he would die on the tennis court. Since he had just won (beating someone younger than himself too), I think he died happy. But what a shock to the family.

Shirl, I've heard lots of people who had great experiences with their Tempos, that's why I think the one Mom and Dad had must have been built on a Monday or Friday!

Yes, Mitford is somewhere in those mountains. What a wonderful book series, Shirl.

Jayne, new furniture isn't for sure but I am researching it. Yes, please, to salted caramel, excellent choice!

When making cards for the fan club, I sometimes overthought it which it sounds like you might be doing too. Take it easy on yourself!

Jan, even in Spain you hear a lot about the royal family? I'm sure that must get old! Next year is your golden wedding anniversary? That is wonderful, congratulations!

Yay, Sharon, glad you are better. Hmm, my mom wrote journals that I have but haven't read. I should do that, she has been gone for ten years now and my dad for twenty. However, their voices are in my head - some of which I have transferred to my DDs heads!

For those of you who don't want to go to the hassle of putting up a tree, Walmart and stores like that (even Home Depot, I think), used to sell small, living evergreen trees that have a few decorations for Christmas for just a spot of holiday cheer. Just a thought.

Well, I need to zip to the post office for postage for Christmas cards! Chat with you later.

Good morning.  Thanks, ladies, for the compliments on my stars/snowflakes.  They are an easy pattern - actually a motif for a tablecloth or something.  I use size 10 crochet thread and a #7 steel hook.  I don't crochet with yarn - haven't for many, many years.  I like the portability of the small projects.

I need to get a card made for MMJ -- tomorrow is my challenge, and I want at least one sample to show.

We hear about the Royal Family on the English TV or news, not really in the Spanish news, I think the Queen has been wonderful but now they have such a big family most paid for by the taxpayers, I really think they should be aware that normal people don’t live in the lap of luxury, most people are worried about the virus, losing their jobs etc, same with so called celebrities we are  told to not mix and then they post pictures of parties, I think they are tone deaf.

I think we are lucky, we have our pensions and our health, well mostly ha,ha, but I do worry about the family,

Catherine we had new furniture when we moved here, eighteen years ago, we are hoping not to have to buy any more although steve had a new recliner at the beginning of the year, I think it’s lasted so well as there’s only the two of us, no GSs bouncing around LOL

I made a quiche for dinner mainly to use up the Camembert cheese, just bacon, tomatoes and cheese, it was delicious although we have enough for tomorrow night too!

Jan, auishe sounds good.   It DH doesn’t like stuff like that.  He is potato, meat person.  He is cooking a pork tenderloin in the crockpot today.  He was going to grill out but it is too cold out.
You won’t believe it,  it we had another earthquake at a little after 9, today.  Smaller this time and about a mile further from us.  Like I said , these come out of Oklahoma.  It is because of their fracking with oil well drilling etc.
