I'm planning out next years Christmas cards. I really depleted my stash this year. I think January's theme is fun folds, so I'm planning with that in mind. I'm hoping to mass produce five at a time. I don't think Ann has posted the new challenge thread yet, so I have time!
Such cute funnies Catherine! How awful to have a stabbing at your library! I pray everyone is OK.
Jayne, thanks for checking in! Wow, that is really hot weather! Sorry to hear about the fires. So very scary for all the people in that area! Great job on all the organizing...it will be wonderful when you're done. It seems I've been so busy running here and there lately, that I'm very much behind in all my home chores. I'm still creating Christmas cards...goodness I just can't seem to catch up. I believe my UTI is clearing up, but I will definitely keep on top of it! Thanks for your concern and advice. Stay cool my friend, hopefully the aircon is running!
Ann, I hope your son is feeling better and that the flu doesn't spread to anyone else! What a busy time of year for you with your sons' birthdays and Christmas! You definitely have to be very organized to keep on top of things in your household!
Good morning to Kathy, Sharon, Melody, Shirl, Sis and all!
Sending hugs, thoughts and prayers to Sally and Kandie!
Spending the afternoon with friends...I really must stay home one of these days! LOL

Goodness, Kathy, I'm not even remotely ready for THIS Christmas, let alone thinking about next year's Christmas cards! Still no decorations up at our house to DD2's chagrin.
Gracie, about the only thing that is ready (mostly) for Christmas are the Hershey kisses Christmas trees that DD2 and I made as gifts for her teachers and the staff at her school. I have a cute forest of them on my craft desk. I do still need to make the tags for their names though. DD2 ready helped a lot in making them and I think she enjoyed it - especially sneaking a candy cane kiss or two.
Catherine, I'm with you...I'm still trying to get everything done for this Christmas! Such fun making Hershey kisses Christmas trees with DD2. Good for you! I have my tree and decorations up and that's about it!
Kathy, you are amazing thinking of next Christmas already! Wow!
Sharon, I just got your beautiful Christmas card with some extra goodies inside! Thank you so much! I'm trying hard to get my cards done and out this year! LOL

Well I'm sure if you ask Ann, she probably has next years cards finished! Maybe even the following year! I used nearly all of mine this year so I don't have any stash to start next years cards. I'm even low on other occasion cards.
I was relieved to hear that my sister took mom and dad for labwork today and she's taking them Monday for his eye appt. Or maybe she's just meeting them there because its in her town. Either way, I'm glad to know mom will have help getting him in to the office and then back in the car. He fell on Tuesday morning, but luckily DS was still on vacation so he went up to help her get him up.
I've come here to vent because if I vent in the YouTube comment section, I'd probably get bashed. My opinion seems to be the only negative one, unless they have a way of deleting negative comments without a trace. Here's my beef. Dumpster diving behind stores....it's illegal. If it werent, they wouldn't have yo sneak in at night to do it. This one couple goes through store dumpsters late at night, finding lots of items they take home and sell on eBay. The one I saw today, they were not even wearing gloves and when the guy stuck his hand in to grab something it had something gooey he got on his fingers! Eeeewww. And they found some candy. I would think people would not want to buy chocolate found in a dumpster! I saw lots of brand new items, and it really is a shame that it would go to a landfill, but the law is the law. And gross is still gross! OK. Enough venting. I knew I could say this here and not be bashed.
Ann, let me know when you start next years Christmas card challenge. I mass produced four fun folds for January today. I think that was to be January's theme.....I didn't do well this year with the challenge. Luckily i had enough cards for this year because I had some leftover from last year and made a few sets last year.
Well, Kathy, dumpster diving is not illegal everywhere. It's legal in Wisconsin if there are not any no trespassing signs or if the dumpster is not fenced in. I would still want to be cautious about what you are pulling out, though. Selling the stuff on ebay, though? I would be very careful what I bought there regardless.
One I watched was in an enclosed area that they forgot to lock. The divers were so excited that someone left the lock open. If it were legal, then I would want to know why they sneak in during the wee hours of the morning. I would also worry that the stores are putting some personal information in those dumpsters, thinking that it will be destroyed. I saw some paperwork that didn't look like packing slips or product info. I just keep picturing that guy pulling his fingers out of that bag and they had something dripping off! Grosses me out. Where are his gloves?
I know when DD was in college, there was a dumpster in front of the dorm, and kids would go through it all the time, but this was in broad daylight. It was an art school, so I imagine some were looking for items to use in their art, but there were other things that one student would toss and someone else decided was usable.

There are also people who put stuff out on the curb. My grandpa used to pick up old furniture and fix it. Broad daylight and I think its the equivalent of us putting stuff down at the bottom of our lane and writing FREE on it. We have gotten rid of a lot of stuff just in the past year doing that. Its much less hassle than trying to haul it somewhere.
Our garbage collection has a 'big item' pickup once a month. It's amazing how much stuff is picked up in the middle of the night before the garbage truck comes. There are people who drive around the neighborhoods with vans, pickups and trailers, specifically looking for stuff to fix, sell for metal, parts, etc.
I made one more of the same design for January. It will be easier for me to track my progress. Don't know why I didn't just cut a fifth one when I did the others! It was fun, Ann, and gave me something to do today. You can only sit still for so long before going bonkers! LOL
That's OK. I took a guess and got it right! I did another five but they didn't fit any themes so I loaded them into December! Ten for next year already! Before I start more, I will check out the themes.
Kathy, DH had a great uncle who would go dumpster diving. DH told me before we went to their house for a meal, to be careful what I ate because his great uncle wasn't above trying to sneak his dumpster finds into the food supply. His great aunt would try to monitor it but everyone was careful because she couldn't stop everything. She was also trying to keep it out without offending him. As a matter of fact, the first time I saw this great uncle he was in a dumpster and DH and I were walking by at a distance. DH said, "Do you see that guy?" I answer that I did and he said, "He's my great uncle." Honestly, I think I wouldn't have told him had the situation been reversed! It was definitely startling.
I just "finished" typing in addresses for Christmas cards so that I can print labels. Finished is in quotes because I have a few queries out to people to verify their current address.
Last year I really was a slacker but two years ago I had all twelve months done by February! Doing five mass produced at a time will give me 60 so then I won't have to cram a bunch in at the end. I'm also trying to keep these mailable because I had to use extra postage on several this year.
My internet went out overnight. The lights were still on on the modem, but it wasn't working so I unplugged it and plugged it back in this morning and its working again. That happens every once in a while. So I had my tablet with me in bed, but it wasn't connecting. DH is at the cabin hunting until tomorrow night.
I didn't sleep well, but I took a nap yesterday, so that may have been the problem. I intend to walk up to mom and dads later. I've seen mom outside, but haven't seen dad in over a week.
Good morning! O Gracie, Me, too. At least about starting next years cards, Kathy. But Catherine , the last time I tried labels, years ago, I jammed up my printer, and broke it! LOL
I don't print mailing labels any more because no matter how they look on my practice page, they always print out of bounds on the label sheets and I waste label paper! I've tried everything, and I'm pretty well versed in Word, so my best guess is that it is a printer issue. Still bugs me because I can print them on a sheet of paper and hold that print out behind the labels and they look perfect! But when I send to the printer, poof! No longer aligned right!
Good morning! It is another rainy morning here and Honey has already been outside. She is now sleeping off the trauma on the couch. Wesley just got into things one too many times so I have banished her back to her room.
DD2's Christmas program is tonight at our church. They are there practicing today. I stopped myself from volunteering to help with the driving - I have too much to do! I did give DD2 my work keys and showed her how to work the church alarm system so the music teacher didn't have to have that responsibility too. She isn't the most organized and seems to be easily overwhelmed.
Kathy, the term slacker and your name do NOT go together in my mind at all!
Sharon, I'm sorry to hear that the labels jammed your printer and broke it. I have been printing my labels for years but there are different kinds of labels for the different kinds of printers and I also believe that it works better nowadays than it used to.
Well, off to tackle my tasks. Here is a Christmas funny for you this morning:
"Am I done with my Christmas shopping?! That would imply that I had STARTED!"
I find that with our printer, it helps to have at least a partial stack of paper in the printer and only one label sheet at a time. That means you can only print one sheet and then must add another, but they seem to feed better.
Those little labels are the worst so I had been doing return labels on the regular size labels and centering them. That worked s little better but then you only get 30 compared to 60 or 90? I can't remember how many you get in the return label size.

I've tried every trick imagineable but nothing works. It got too expensive because of wasted label sheets.
Good afternoon, Alpha sisters. I have tried twice this morning to post and lost both, one was very long, so I’m trying a quick post for this third attempt.

Aha, it worked. Thank you so much for the LOVELY well wishes cards and the Christmas cards I have received. I sent mine out yesterday. My cards are nothing special, it’s been so long since I’ve made anything, but I gave it a go.
It sounds like so many of you are sick with this ridiculous weather. I have had my coughing, runny nose and drainage turn into a nasty bacterial infection so have been on medication for weeks. So tired of not feeling well, I know it’s that way with us all.
I’ll be back later to update on my sis. She is still doing not well at all.
Take care, many hugs.

Catherine, have fun at the Christmas program this evening!
Kathy, you are on a roll and must be feeling better!! Yes, I have been trying to make more "flat" cards too as postage gets too high with all the thick ones!
Hi Sharon, Shirl, and Melody!!
Off to make pies today!! It's son number four birthday today!! And he wants blueberry and banana cream pies!!
