wow... they both look interesting!! I'm totally going to try the circle/pie shaped one, because I've never done anything quite like that!! Thanks for the awesome sketches!!

nothing like circles to really make it hard for me!

I followed Mary's example with the first sketch, substituted my detailed and long journaling for a picture.

These sketches are BOTH awesome!! The first one looks VERY challenging and I have PERFECT pics to use for it...but can anyone please give advice on how to go about cutting the pie pieces? I really don't want to mess up my pics...so I'd like to know what I'm doing before I do it!! Are you guys just using a ruler, do you have a template or what?! THANKS for your help!!;)

Vicki, I've GOT to find a LARGE circle cutter, these circles are killin' me!! I, once again, went the very technical route with mine! NOT! I traced a large circle (dinner plate) on a piece of c/s. Cut it out and then folded it into half and half and half again to get a pie shaped piece. I wish my dinner plate would have been the right size for my inner most circle because it would have been a lot easier for me. But it was BIG, so it was the size of the outside circle. So then I used the pie piece (folded) to trace onto a piece of scrap plastic (off my new coluzzle alpha) so I had a tranparent wedge. I just slid it out a bit and re-did the outside curve so it was shorter for the inside circle. Then it was easy to see through to make sure I didn't cut off any heads, traced it and cut out my photos. Then used my folded wedge to pencil in my two smaller circles onto c/s and cut them out. Since I didn't do that so well, I then snipped here and there to fix non circle spots!! Can you believe that?!! So anyone, how large of a circle can you cut with the CM system? I can't say that I recommend my method to ANYONE!! Hopefully someone else posts some better methods for this!!

Thanks so much for help!! I would have never thought to use the acetate sheets for cutting out my pics!! I'm glad you said that before I started it!! I have a coluzzle cutting system and it does not make big circles like some of the sketches require and I know I asked this question about how people are getting such large circles on their pages and thankfully Peggy told me she used a frying pan. Well...my frying pans were either too large or too small...so I got the idea of a tupperware lid and have used that, but I just couldn't figure out the pie shapes! I think I can manage from your directions unless someone else has an easier method...I'll try it out and see what I can come up with!! THANKS so much for your quick response!!!;)

Yeah!! I got the pie thing done!! WOAH!! It was hard! I didn't follow the sketch EXACTLY...but I think it turned out OK. I'm not happy about the pie pieces cutting off my pics, but it was too late and I was determined to finish up this sketch!! Here it is:

Yep, I'm on a roll!!! Look out!!;) I thought that the second sketch was just too easy to pass up and I REALLY need to get the boy's pages scrapped for their albums. So what I did was turn the second sketch into a 8 1/2 x 11 size. Isn't my baby (who is far from a baby anymore!!! He's even got peach fuzz now!! GASP!!) so cute?! Here's my page:

Well, this is a bit late and probably not the most best way for creating the circle and making the pie slices but it worked for me and i will actually try this sketch out again. I am finishing up the one to post. Okay here is what I did to get the circle
1. Go to word document page. Clikc 'Insert' - Click 'Shapes' - Paste in center of page.
2. Ensure page margins are 0.5" at top,bottom, right, and left sides of paper so you can than enlarge the circle on a 81/2 x 11 size. Use white typing/computer paper which is easy to use later for seeing through for picture cutting pie shapes.
3. Print the circle page and cut, you can than transfer the shape onto tracing paper if desired to see through easier but I used the same white paper.
4. Fold the circle in half. Fold in half again. Unfold and you have your lines for intersecting middle.
5. Take pencil and mark center of circle and 'eye' center of equal distance between the folds.
6.Woila you have your pie pieces. I number my pie wedges before cutting and also numbered the sketch layout so could use for a reference.
Whew! It sounds more confusing than actually was. Hope this helps a bit

Okay, here's my completed circle pie one. I will totally admit that this page does not do well standing alone. It actually does balance well with its complimentary page which is a historical site we visited. Fun challenge!

Thanks so much for your help on that!! I already did my own little way of doing it, but the way I cut my pics out was not the right way to do it and my pics just happen to be a little too small to use up a whole piece and I didn't want to make the circle any smaller or that wouldn't have looked right either. This was just a fun challenge to try and I'm glad I did it...although I will certainly try a different way of doing it next time! Any way you look at it...it certainly takes a while to put together!! I really do love the sketch idea though!! TFS!:-D

I agree this was a bit of a tricky one, the hardest part was finding some pictures I liked for the layout. The good thing was cutting off all the playgound equipment that really doesn't do much for the picture. Plus quite often either DH or I was off to the side on the photo, so could wack away!
