Default Trouble changing password

Please help! I forgot my old password and was emailed a new (and very weird, not easily remembered) one. I’ve tried changing it to my preferred one five times and it won’t allow me to - the only way I can log in is with the goofy one emailed to me by SCS. On my control panel I typed in the new one and clicked “save changes.” What am I doing wrong?

I'm not sure, but I think the problem referenced in this post isn't yet resolved, so it's not saving changes possibly.

Personally I don't log out, so it's only when I clear cookies that I have to log in again.

Thanks for responding and hopefully they’ll fix it. (At least now I know it isn’t something I’m messing up!) I don’t usually log out but I do clear my cookies/history frequently so that must be what’s causing me to have to log in so often.

Maybe I should look at it as a challenge to memorize the insane password they gave me, lol.

It might be worth trying again. According to Lydia it was fixed in the latest patch (see the Post-CK Editor bugs thread in this section of the forum).

I tried it again 3x this morning and still no luck. I logged out and was able to log back in using my SCS-generated password, went to Edit Changes on my personal info page and tried three different times with three different passwords, clicked Save changes, but kept getting “You have entered an invalid password” message.

I’ll be patient....and stay logged in as much as possible. Thanks for your help!

Maybe you've done this but worth asking. Did you go to the edit email and password page? In there you type the old password, then the new and confirm the new.

I guess you had to have gone to that page. I went there from the menu on the left. I chose edit email and password from there, not from the main info page. But I didn't try changing mine because I didn't want to mess it up. I'm assuming you haven't changed email addresses if they sent you a temporary new password.

Try it now. I got caught up in the password-saving bug, but I finally successfully changed my password

Thanks for your input. I just tried it, five more times with five different/new passwords, clicked the save changes button, and each time got the “You have entered an invalid password” message. I’m trying different combos of upper/lower, numbers, symbols - but none of them seem to work. ********sigh********.

At this point I guess I’ll try to memorize the SCS-generated password and stay logged in..

Since "they" think the problem is fixed, you could try writing the "contact us" admins and ask them for an easy to remember password if you don't have anything hypersensitive here. Maybe an admin "fixing" my password was what allowed me to change it, although when she sent the easy password she did say that a bug was preventing people from changing their passwords. If nothing else it'll let them know the problem isn't actually fixed.

For what it’s worth...I just tried changing my password again but no luck. I keep getting the message about entering an invalid password, so evidently it’s not fixed yet.

I don't think you can change it at the moment. They are still working on some site issues.
