Default Watermarks and other identifying techniques

I've just started a gallery and would like to know how to put a watermark or my name on the photo that I upload. I've seen some really neat ones. Is it part of the photo software, or is it from another source?

Good question! I've always wondered this too, and I have assumed the watermark is part of the photo-editing software. If it is, then I'd like to know what everyone's favorite software is, so that I can put it on my birthday wishlist.

TIA to anyone who can enlighten us!

Thanks for all the info, and the link to Kurti's tutorial. I've designed my watermark, but now I'm having a problem with copying it to my photo. I've watched the tutorial and I've got the book that tells me how to do it, but I'm missing something. I'm not giving up though. Just no more time today..and no time tomorrow or the next day..bummer!! Anyway, thanks again!

You need to drag and drop the image onto your photo as a new layer. Then flatten the layers and save.

It also depends on which version of PhotoShop you are using. I switched from a trial version of 5.0, which you can click on the wm you have created from the small thumbnail at the bottom and move up to your photo (in the main viewing area), but . . .

With 4.0, which I purchased, I have to have the wm in my main viewing area and then click on it and drag it to the picture I want it on (smaller thumbnail area at the bottom of your screen). Hope this helps. I was really frustrated with this for about 24 hours until it dawned on me to try it a different way. What's that saying about teaching old dogs new tricks . . . LMBO. Well, I felt like that old dog.

Sometimes I just have to look at things from a different angle once in a while. Good luck, Judy!

Default Watermarks and other identifying techniques

I finally managed to create a watermark for my gallery photos! Yippee!! Woohoo!! I could not have figured it out without your help! Kurti's tutorial is great, I watched it numerous times, made my design, but then couldn't move it to the photo without the background! I'm using an older version of PhotoShop Elements which could have something to do with it, but more likely it is operator error. After several hours of trying, I gave up! I still can't move my original, but I can create it in each photo in just a couple of minutes so I guess that will have to do. My next question is what I use to create the copyright insignia? I saw it in the forums somewhere, didn't write it down, DUH! and now can't remember.

Thanks again for your help!
