i just posted this in the general stamping category and dont know how to copy it here... anyways as i had stated...i have been visiting scs for a few months now. love to read the forums and browse the gallery. the only problem is that i have aquired a trojan virus about 5-6 times now. and this is the only new site that i have been going to. actually yesterday i was on scs only. and by the end of the day i noticed some strange computer behavior. so i ran my virus scan and low and behold i had 9 files infected. again... its getting hard to explain to my hubby why i keep getting a virus and nobody else inthe house is getting them. and we all have the same virus protection software.i love this site, but its not worth the price of a new computer. last time my hubby had to totally re-build my computer cuz the virus wiped out everything. i dont know if anyone else is having the same problem or not, i guess i will have to go back to my magazines for inspiration. the internet is getting too dangerous.
I don't want to discount what you're saying, but we're not aware of anyone ever acquiring a virus through a visit to Splitcoast. it would require, as far as I know, a conscious effort on our part to deceptively install software on your computer.
those types of trojan, malware, spyware and virus programs are notorious for doing everything they can to prevent being gotten rid of. most likely your virus software is not able to fully disinfect your computer, and the problem comes back. I can't say that for certain of course, but that's the most likely scenario.
I too was afflicted with the "TV" the beginning of the week and so was my DD...only thing is, I'm in CA & on SCS a moderate amount of time and my DD is in OR and is NOT crafty what so ever...so, the chances of her ever being on SCS is nil to never...
Oh, and just so you know...we each have a good Virus Protection program on our computers but, each of us had to manually debug our computers.

I recently got a trojan virus linked to a pdf file for the second time. The only places I had been both times was on the Stampin' Up web site downloading a pdf file and here on SCS. While I was on SCS I did click on someone's link to their blog/website and watched a video tutorial or viewed their written instructions for a card. I know you can't speak for the Stampin' Up website but my question for SCS is, when someone posts a link to their website or to their tutorials or other directions is it safe to click on those links? Are those links verified or tested by SCS for their safety? Is it always safe to click on someone's card in the gallery? How would I know what is safe on this site and others before I click on it?
I believe many anti-virus or protection programs will do optional scans on documents like PDF or Word files before opening, you might look into something like that.
I don't believe there's any kind of scan on attachments made here (files attached to threads for example), but I should check on that.
we don't have a way to test or certify other sites linked to from SCS, so you'll need to use your own judgment there.
