Question Is there a place that helps us understand our PM page?

I'm sorry, but I cannot for the life of me understand my Private Message page. All my messages are either staring at me or deleted because I have too many and they make me crazy.

I've tried to figure out how to make different folders for "sent" "received" etc., but no luck with that. I'm not usually this much of a dunce when it comes to this stuff. Is it so easy that I can't see the forest for the trees?

HELP!

Thanks so much,
RavioliGirl

Your inbox stores the messages you've received. When you click on the little envelope up at the top right of the screen, it should default to your inbox.

Toward the middle of your screen, you should have a box with "Folder Controls". The red, yellow, and green bar graph shows the proportions of how many messages are stored in the folder you're looking at (red), how many messages you have stored in all your folders (yellow), and how many more you're allowed (green).

Underneath the bar is a drop-down menu that's labeled "jump to folder". There you can choose from your inbox or your sent messages.

Then underneath that, you'll see a listing of all the messages in whichever folder you're choosing to view. The unread messages will have a yellow envelope icon beside them, and the sender's name will appear in bold type. Read messages will have a grey envelope and the sender's name will be in regular type. Click on the subject line of any unread message to read it.

Does this help? Feel welcome to ask any additional questions you might have.

I think Patricia has covered it all there - but if you DO want to create a folder it's down on the lefthand side under the Private Messages heading, if you've clicked on your user name at the top right of this page. It's the Edit Folders option, but it will only create folders in the Inbox. All sent items go to the sent folder as Patricia described.
Personally I don't see the point in setting up a lot of folders, just makes them harder to find.
Also, you can download them in either text or html format to your computer.
Down near the very bottom of the page on the right-hand side is a line in bold text that says Download all Private Messages as XML / CSV / Text.
I usually choose XML as it will open in my browser and be easily searchable if I'm trying to find an address somebody has sent me. But be warned - if there are a lot of messages it can take a while to download!
