slower downloaded photo approval?

is it just me, or is the approval waiting period for an uploaded photo, taking longer? it seems to be takling a longer then usual amount of waiting time.

It shouldn't be any slower than normal generally speaking!
I personally was slow last night when I was moderating - when you get a whole bunch of cards using SU sets but not saying which sets, or with techniques that have a different name but are the same technique as some featured in the Technique Spotlight, it takes time to check those out. I do try, though, to approve the easy ones promptly and hold the hard ones back to work on.
