Default Right click to Open a new tab

I use right click and open new tab all the time to go between forums and galleries. Today I no longer have that option. When I right click now I only get a choice to Pen or Open a New Window. Is this aproblem with the site or with my computer. I am so frustrated that I lost it and have to keep opening new windows. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hey Kittie!! Sounds like a browser change. What browser do you use?

OMG! I have no idea how to answer that question. It's so sad to be so ignorant. It's not Firefox or anything like that. I think it's just windows explorer. Does that sound right?

This is a common issue in Internet Explorer 8. Go here How to reset Internet Explorer settings and click the "Fixit" button and this will reset your browser settings. Then close the Internet and reopen it and try again.

Hope this helps!

Oh wow Leeann thank you!

Yes, Kittie you must be using Internet Explorer - I use Firefox so I didn't know this little tip. I will keep this handy in case someone else asks!

Thank you again!!

Well....the fix didn't stick. It worked once for me but then after that it quit. I can right click on favorites along my tool bar and the open in new tab appears but when I click on a photo or forum here on SCS it will not work. It anly gives the choice of open or open new window. Any Suggestions? Could this have anything with something happening on SCS? Any help would be greatly appreciated. WE have no idea how little conveniences mean so much until they stop working. LOL! Whine!!!!!!!!!!!

Sadly nothing has changed here - it's an Explorer thing.

However you can fix it lickety split by switching to Firefox!!

I'd die without open in new tab - and I'm not being dramatic!!! LOL

I am using IE and can still open in a new tab. I would be lost without that!

Try clicking on the help button and then on Internet Explorer Help and type in "tabbed browsing" in the keyword search box....you may have it turned off?

I heard you can open a link in a new tab by clicking the wheel mouse rather than right-click in the link (yes it is a 3rd button). Unfortunately, I don't have IE8 to test it. There's also the possibility that there's an add in that is disabling this option.

I doubt it's SCS that is the root the problem, you would likely see this on any website. I would recommend downloading/using Firefox because it would be harder to get help with IE8 since it's so new, but just a suggestion.

Thanks Leanne! I can't seem to get a fix on my right click open tab but clicking on my mous wheel allows it. Go figure. My husband is going to help me download Firefox this weekend....(yes....I am clueless ...can you tell?) and I hope it will be better.

I tried all the things suggested and nothing fixed it. Then all the sudden a couple days later it was working again. But....I was very happy to have it back. I did try clicking on the mouse wheel and that made it work. Anyway...it seems fine now so I am just keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for asking.

Isn't that strange?? Things like that happen all the time and sometimes you can never figure out what it was. I'm just glad it's all working for you again because I sure love those tabs....

So clicking the wheel mouse made the option show up in the "right-click" menu? That's excellent, Kittie! That's not what I thought would happen but if it helps, great.

A lot of what I do as a Systems Analyst is guess, and you have no idea how many times I've jumped up and down in excitement when things started to function the way they are supposed to when I do.. 25% education, 25% experience, 50% guessing

I used to ask our IT people how they fixed it and many times they would smile and say "I'm not sure!" Glad to know it's not just me....;)
