I have been waiting about 3 weeks to get into the RAK forum. I got a note after 2 weeks from Gina asking for my info but saying that it could take a few days. It's been a few days, and she really didn't seem to want further e-mails, so does anyone know, how do I know if I am "in"? I keep going to the site, thinking that when I am approved it will just be highlighted and I can get in, but is that wrong? I think maybe it is. How will I know?
Hang in there, Cindy! You'll know you're "in" when you can see the Random Acts of Kindess forum (under User Groups) and your public profile will display the following in the Group Memberships section: "RAK: Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) group. Membership requests are processed bi-weekly."
It currently says "Cynamom is not a member of any public groups"
Gina travels a lot for work and only updates the list every so often. I can only say that it'll be well worth the wait!
Thanks, Vera. Maybe this is a dumb question, but with so many requests, why would it be left to onloy one person, and one who travels no less? I'm sure there are others who would be happy to help. I would volunteer, but at this point I think that would be dumb since I don't even know what it is all about, you know?
Hang in there. I know Gina will get to it as soon as possible. I can't answer with any authority about why there is only 1 person doing sign ups for RAK, but I can tell you my experience with DSS sign ups. We had 3 of us taking sign ups. We clearly stated in our announcement thread how to go about signing up (based on your user name on SCS). We split the alphabet, and don't you know that people still sent their sign up information to either the wrong person or to more than one of us. This created a duplication fiasco. We're back to just one of us doing the sign ups. It makes for a more manageable list.
Gina has been doing the RAK group/forum since its inception. I believe she has some helpers now, but she is still the one to take care of new enrollees.

But anyway, THANK YOU!

Cindy.....One of the main reasons there is only ONE person who handles the request is there is an excel file that is kept that has ALL the RAK members info. Trying to split that up into more then just one person would be a total nightmare to keep the records/files accurate!! There are over 2,000 active members in RAK right now.
Plus, there are several administrative duties ((that most are not aware of that needs to happen)) before Gina can update and open the forum to the new requests.
Hang in there Sweetie.....I know she's working on them!!

You are in as of today. Look around the rak forums and enjoy- please take note of all of the work involved and know there is a lot of behind the scenes work that you cant see.
Thanks for your patience.
