Hi, Sheryl, and welcome to splitcoast! Everything you need is in your user control panel. You can access that in two ways. Just pick the one that suits you!
1. Quick Links - click on that, and you'll see User Control Panel, Edit Signature, Edit Profile, Edit Options
2. Click on Welcome, SherylD at the very top of your screen. You'll get the same options there.
Poke around a little in there, and you'll be able to add profile information, an Avatar (picture under your name), and a profile pic (bigger picture that everyone can see when they click on your username, then view profile.
You will also be able to request group membership via your user control panel. Once you are in the UserCP, down at the bottom left, you'll see Group Memberships.
You'll see a list of all of our groups, and be able to choose from there.
