Red face Problem updating a photo *MERGED*

Hi there,

I am trying to replace a photo on one of my cards. I have done this before, go into Edit Photo, click on Browse, select the new photo and Viola! Done. But, today it's not working for me. I have instant upload privelages as an SCS member. Is there something I am missing today? Does upload privelages on Sunday extend to updates? Does anyone know?

Thanks

It usually takes a while for the server to catch-up with the changes.

As Avonlea puts it:
It's like returning a book to the library; it takes a while for the book to be put back on the shelf.

Default Difficulty in editing photograph of card in gallery

I modified a photograph of a card to include a watermark. I attempted to upload the new photograph using the EDIT functionality provided. The thumbnail does appear to contain the watermark, but when I look at the actual picture, it does not. I've used the EDIT functionality before to provide a "better" photograph of a card so I am not concerned that this was a case of "user error." I waited a day then attempted to upload the same watermarked photograph again, still to no avail.

Regards,

- Dawn.

I takes a while for the gallery to catch up with the changes....plus you may have a cached image in your browser.

Avonlea describes it this way:
It's like returning a book to the library....it takes a while before the book is put back on the shelf.

Thanks, Kurtis. I know that it takes a while for updates to occur. In the previous instance, I've had it take as long as a day before the new picture appeared. Since I am not sure how long Firefox will retain a cached image, I check into that.

Default Problem with Keywords

Hello... Could you tell me if I did something wrong? I uploaded this card today:

Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

None of the keywords I entered will bring up my card in a search. I especially would like for it to come up when a search is done for "Bella".

I seem to remember that when I clicked on my keywords in my other gallery photos, they worked OK and my card comes up.

It's probably "operator error" but I haven't been able to figure it out. Please advise.

Thanks so much,
Catherine

I just checked, and it came up. When we upload, the Gallery's server needs a bit of time to 'index' what we just did. Think of it this way; when you return a book to the library, it takes a bit of time for it to go back onto the shelf.

This is why the search function for the challenges don't work right away. the gallery has to index the description before the search engine can look for them.

Kurtis... I went to your brother's website and watched a couple of the movie clips. Very cool! Best of luck with your filmmaking. A very artistic family, to be sure! And, I agree, your new pic is great.

Oh, and your blog is fantastic and so artfully done. Love your cards, and the photos are wonderful. (which digital camera are you using?)

You're a great asset here on SCS!

Default Help!!

Can someone on the admin team help me get my gallery straightened out? I need all my pages to be in the 8x8 category. I have tried to change it myself, but it won't.

Thanks!

I see that most of your pages are in the 8x8 category. When you change the category or the supplies and save the changes on the photo, it takes a few minutes before the changes are visible. It's like returning a book to the library - it takes a while before the book is put back on the shelf.

It takes a little while for the changes to take place. It's like returning a book to the library. the books aren't put back on the shelf until a little while later.

Red face I am not sure what I did??

I just added three cards to my gallery. I hit some button by mistake, because it processed before I finished the directions. So I went back into my gallery and hit the edit button, finished with all the writing and hit the area to save the changes. The tricky part is, when I go back to the gallery to see if the writing was saved correctly, it doesn't show any of the changes. At the same time...when I re-hit the edit button to fix it, all the previous information is still there, but it just does'nt show up under the picture of the card, when I exit it again?
I am only computor friendly and know just enough to get by. Do I just need to wait a while or am I doing something or Not doing something I should do?
Sorry to bother you with all these dumb questions, but this one has me baffled.

Default Editing

How long does it take for a card picture to change after being edited? I have edited my card Rainy Days two or three times because the original had a piece of paper stuck to it so I rescanned it and put in the new picture and it still comes up with the original pic.

It usually takes only a few minutes but it has taken an hour before.

You will still see your old signature, avatar and post count in the gallery because of your temporary files. You can clear your browsers cache to fix it on your end. On your browser click Tools>Internet Options>General>Delete Files>OK.

Red face help to move a gallery pic

I really tried to fix my upload! Mistakenly put this card in Best Blossoms category - and then realized it belongs in Blossoms Abound. I tried the edit. When I review the posting - click edit - my edits show up. But it didn't get moved?!

Ok, I understand that it may take awhile for the changes to show up...but what im wondering is, is the new image automatically approved? The last time I edited the written info part, I believe i got the message that it was up for approval (just like when a new image is uploaded) And since I'm trying to change some of my gallery photos (replacing with better ones) and not getting that message, it makes me think its not working. Shall I just continue to wait?

When you edit a photo you will have to wait for your image to be reapproved, unless you are a member of the Fan Club. It could be that the mods are approving them as soon as you are editing them.

I recieved some emails saying that my uploads were approved. But when I clicked the links to view them, it was still the old photos. Is it still just a matter of waiting?

Because of your temporary files you may still see your old images - try clearing your browser cache by clicking: Tools > Internet Options > General > Delete Files > OK.

Does that help?

Default How can I edit a photo that has been uploaded?

I uploaded an uncropped photo by mistake. I then went to the edit screen and changed it to the cropped version of the photo. The cropped version shows up on the edit page but it does not show up in the gallery.
How can I get the cropped version of the photo to show up in the gallery?

The problem just fixed itself.
