Exclamation Favorites Download Feature

Hello everyone!

Now that we fixed the search in Favorites, we are working on other priorities on the site. One request I wanted to update you on a feature that hasn't been working for quite some time, and that's the ability to download favorites into a zip file. This was broken for users with large numbers of favorites prior to our move to Internet brands, and was working selectively for some users with a small number of favorites.

To make a long story short, there's a reason it was broken. It's a horrible drain on server resources, especially if a user has a large number of favorites. One person zipping a favorites file could affect the performance of our site for all users, and that is not something we (or you) want. Also, people have expressed concern about other people downloading their content in bulk.

For these reasons, this is not a request we are going to keep open.

HOWEVER

We do want to make some changes to Favorites to make them easier to use for the purposes we all use them for - prepping for classes, cranking out that last minute card, reviving our tired mojo, etc.

For me, and for those of you who have posted here, the most wanted feature in Favorites is some sort of classification - folders or lists where you could tag your faves by theme or stamp set or color, etc. and not have to sift through all of them for that one card you remember saving.

Keyword searching is not as effective as an organizational system would be.

So my question to you is, what would you like that system to look like? Folders, lists, custom tags? If we can all agree on some basic features you'd like, then we can get specs on developing a change and get a timeline for it.

So, please post with your ideas, and TIA for your input!

I've never used that favorites feature for just that reason. I know I'd end up with too many to sift through. Not to mention times when the SCS server is as slow as molasses.

Anywho, I would find folders or tags equally effective. I almost like tags better because I could add multiple tags to one image whereas I would be unlikely to put a favorite in to multiple folders.

Custom tags or folders, with a preference for tags. That would make it easier to note whether it was something like a colour combo or a neat technique or whatever it was that made it worth favouriting.
As someone with never more than two pages of favourites, I miss the download feature, but it's nice to know what the problem was.

I would like to be able to separate my favourites into techniques (eg. brayering, using Nesties, etc.) and also SU sets, so if tags would make it possible to add more than one subject to the same favourite, then that would be my choice. Thanks for working on this as I would love to be able to organize my favourites.

Tags seem like a good solution to me!
