How would one deal with a nasty PM?

Forward it to a MOD.

Or just delete it and rant about it to a friend until you feel better...assuming you mean one that was directed to you....but if you think this is something this person is making a habit of, then forward it to a mod & get it stopped. They will kick people off the boards.

Go into the PM, hit the forward button, send it to maybe jbalcer, camsmom, muddyotter,.....those are the ones off the top of my head.
