Default Downloading PMs?

Is it possible to download PMs to a file? I've got quite a few I'd like to keep, and am getting dangerously close to the limit. I'm not all that computer literate, so I'll need a very clear explanation!

Hmmmmm, Trying to decide how to best explain this......and it may not be the best option....just the way I know how to do it. If you were to open Wordpad, or some program like that, you could copy and paste your pm's to the Wordpad document, and save them in one document, or several documents in one folder titled "SCS PM's", or something of the sort. The way you would do this would be:
(and i apologize if i state the obvious at all......not sure just how computer illiterate you are......and i don't mean that negatively, i'm pretty illiterate myself.)

1) Open the pm you want to save.
2) Position your cursor at the beginning of the PM.
3) Left click, (your mouse should have 2 buttons, we usually use the left for clicking on links or folders), and when you left click, hold that button down, move your mouse over the PM, and highlight the whole message from top to bottom. Then let up on button.
4) Make sure your cursor is on the highlighted PM, then RIGHT click and a little list of options should pop up. Scroll down to copy and click it. (you can also simotaneously hold down the control button and "C" to copy....at least i think that's the other way)
5) In your Wordpad, or similar program, RIGHT click again, the menu thingy will pop up, scroll down to paste, click it, (or simotaneous control and "V"....someone please correct me if that's not right) and your PM should be copied to Wordpad. Then you could save that Wordpad document as a particular PM, in a folder titled like I said above, or you could just continue to copy and paste to that same Wordpad document until you've got all the PM's you wanted to save.

Boy, now that I typed that out I think..."There's got to be an easier way!"
But I think it just sounds confusing, is really pretty simple once you do it a few times. And hopefully someone out there knows how to do this differently, or can explain it better than I have.

Good luck!

Hi, Elaine!
There is an easy way!
Go to your private messages folder. At the very bottom you'll see
Move to folder______ with a drop down menu.
and
Download all Private Messages as :
XML | CSV | Text

I like to click the ones that make sense together (say, all the ones about VSN), and then choose Download as Text from the drop down.

When I click Save, I can change the file name and location so that if ever I need to go back, the file is easier to find.

Once I have saved them to a text file, I delete the PMs.

Hope that makes sense!

Had a feeling I was making it harder than it needed to be. Thanks, Jenn.

Thanks Happy Heart for asking this and thanks for the answers. I was about ready to ask the same. My memory is unreliable, and I kind of like a record of many contacts - but my box is very close to the limit also. Will have to try this.
