The asterisk means you're on Invisible mode, Kurtis...not sure about the + sign..sorry!

I think the + sign is the person is on your buddy list.

Does that mean I am my own buddy? I just have not made a buddy list. Or am I on some one else's list? It is a puzzlement!

Your own name appears with a + on the current active user list as well as any name that is on your buddy list.
