Will we ever get the edit button back?

I don't know if this has been asked in the past, but will the edit button ever come back?

i'll be honest with you sara, the idea of not having it offends me just a little bit. I like the idea of giving people just as much freedom as we can. it also causes complication and inconvenience at times when you can't go back and change something.

on the other hand, it forces people to be accountable for their words. it requires them to consider a little more carefully before hitting the Submit button. it preserves the "integrity" of a discussion that would get lost when someone went back and changed their previous posts. it's less administrative hassle too.

I won't say we'll *never* bring it back, but for me the arguments 'against' just slightly win out over the arguments 'for'.

Edit was an option in all the forums, but it was disabled due to abuse. We've made changes here and there, and select forums do have edit available. I don't know that it will ever be available in all forums again, but I don't want to say, "NEVER!" and then have to take it back.

We hope that people will use the Preview Post button before clicking Submit Reply.

LOL Thanks, both Daven and Jenn for your answers. I know it was taken away b/c of abuse and I understand why you don't want to bring it back. I just miss not being able to correct grammar/typing mistakes. Guess I need to learn to use the "preview" button more, huh? ;)
