I'd like to know how it works too! I've put afew people on my list but I dont see any notification about these folks when Im on line...how does it work?
You can click on "Quik Links" at the top of the screen an click "Open Buddy List" you can see if your buddys are online or offline. It is also a quicker way to get to their profile.

That is the way to see who is on your Buddy list, but how do you get them on there to begin with?

I have added people to my buddy list, but I have no idea what that does for me?! :-) Can you please tell me what are the benefits for having people on my buddy list? Thank you! I love SCS!

What Consuelo said. Just go to "Quick Links" on the top blue bar of your SCS screen and go to 'Open Buddy List'. The people at the top of the list are online, the people at the bottom aren't.

You can also put people on your ignore list. I currently have Tom Brokaw on mine. Napoleon is the only one on my buddy list right now, along with Catie.
I've been doing great with almost every aspect of Splitcoast since I started in May. One thing that I have seen but not used is the "Buddy List." So tonight I thought I would search for an explanation.
I do see links that say "Add X?X?X?X? to your Buddy List." But I still have not discovered why I would do that. I can already send a PM or an email to anyone who is a member. What advantage is there in having someone on a Buddy List?
Ok, I added a Buddy to my Buddy list. Now what? What do I do with my buddy? Other than being a buddy... is there a way to send her stuff? Gimme the scoop on the buddy list, or is there a place that tells you about your buddy/buddy list? (options etc)
Having someone on your buddy list is the quickest way to find out if they are on line and to send them a private message. The Buddy List is found under Quick Links.
bump, good question, I've never known what it does either.;)
All the buddy list does is show you who's online...you know at the bottom of the main forum page, where it lists everyone that is on right now? All it does is put a + next to your buddies...it is very hard to see and not very useful.
Other than that, it doesn't do anything else. I've tried putting people on my buddy list and it doesn't always work. So, now I just search through the hundreds of names to find if they are on or not!
I don't know so much what the ignore list is for, but I have my SCS friends on my buddy list so I can check to see if they are on SCS when I first get on. If they are, I'll PM them right away for almost instant messaging. Instant gratification instead of waiting around till whenever they get back to me. I also use it to PM them to sign on to whatever IM (MSN, ICQ, etc.) they're on so I can really have instant messaging. Bear in mind, though, that some prefer to have their online status hidden. HTH
The ignore list is for members whose posts you'd rather not see. If someone you put on your ignore list posts all you will see is their name and a message stating they are on your ignore list. It's a nice feature to have when you just can't take one more of_____'s comments. ;)

I had no idea!!! Just thought it might prevent them from sending me a PM or something.
I spend most of my time in the Stamping Forums. Maybe folks who post to Current Events a lot use the Ignore feature more. LOL!!!
Charlene, I have a buddy list so that I can quickly check to see if my friends are active and on-line. Under Quick Links is Open Buddy List. Once the list comes up, I can quickly send my buddies a private message or track down where they are on the site.
I usually add someone to my buddy list when I like their whole gallery and want to "bookmark" them or if we have something in common. However, I would like to be able to go to my buddy list and be able to access their profile, gallery, pm them, etc rather than just seeing their names. Is this at all possible?
Thank you so much, you all do such a wonderful job at making this site user friendly and efficient, it is so well designed!
When you click on the little on/off button if front of their name on the Buddy List it will take you to their profile. From there you can send a private message.
You can also click on the box behind their name and then the pm button below the list to send a private message.
Ah Ha! Half of the problem has been solved! Should have read Daven's response more carefully! SORRY!!! :???: I found the real Buddy List under Quick Links, now what alee described to me makes sense. However, still can't see the person's Gallery, which has always been a little weird I thought, when you go to a person's profile you can see everything about them at SCS except their gallery. Could we see a link under a member's profile for their gallery? Am I asking too much? Sorry! Pretty Please?
Thank you!

Reason: because I didn't follow directions!

What I would like, is to have the drop down from the name on the buddy list that is already in the gallery and forums....
