Hi Daven and administrators,
I'm still getting error messages for uploading - but at least I've now shrunk all my photos down to between 35 - 70 kb so not to get stuck anymore! (are those a good size?)
Thanks for providing this wonderful site for us all!
I've gotten that fatal error message too. I uploaded half of my lunch bag album last Saturday and have not been able to upload anything since then. I've had this problem.
Jen has emailed me and said that there are problems with so many people uploading I think. I haven't seen any other posts with others having this problem other than this thread.
if you don't mind, would you guys please e-mail me a copy of the files you're trying to upload? send an e-mail with the files attached to [email protected].
okay, I've cleared out both your upload queues. you both had at least one large file that was probably the source of the problem. I know this "shouldn't" be a problem, but with our current gallery situation (overloaded server) I think any problems get exacerbated. best thing you can do is process your images before uploading.
yes, it's kind of a pain. but, if you do these three things you'll most likely avoid any problems and also decrease your upload times:
- save as .jpg
- resolution no larger than 640 pixels wide or 480 pixels tall
- 70% quality
Thanks for the help, Daven. Now I have a question: how do I process before I upload?
well, that all depends :^) if you use a scanner, your scanner software may have all the capabilities you need. after scanning there should be options to crop, resize, image format, quality (for jpeg files), etc.
if you have a digital camera you probably have software that came with it for editing your photos, right? poke around there for similar options - resize, etc. and then when you save the file you should be able to specify the jpg format and some kind of quality setting.
someone else might have some specific suggestions if you mention what software you have or what you're using.
I am confused. I have uploaded this card twice now, it has been viewed, had comments and then disappears. The name of the card is Island Blossom Joy. Last time uploaded was tonight at about 8pm EST. My other cards are all still there. I have received emails from splitcoast stating my image has been posted and then that it has been moved - but I can not locate it. Please help.
