In a lot of what we do here, pictures are very important. I think it would be great to have a forum where people can ask and answer photography questions and share tips and techniques to preserve our cards and cherished memories.
I think that's a great idea. I bought a nice camera a couple years ago, (well, nice to me after several 35mm's, lol..........it's a Canon IS powershot), but I have no idea what all it can do. I read the book cover to cover, but then forget all of it by the next time I use it.
Not to mention, general suggestions and tips would be helpful also.
Major interest here too!! Photography is my main hobby...even above stamping. I know, I know, I'll probably get slammed for that.
I know NameMedia is associated with a Photography site and I did check it out a couple of times, but I just didn't get that *friendly* feeling like I do here.

I think it is a great idea. I visit photography sites and they are usually way over my head and too much information overload KWIM! I would like an SCS forum for us amature photographers that just want to be able to take a decent photo of our families to scrapbook and help each other figure out how to use digital cameras! It could be a subforum under scrapbooking. My wishlist would include subforums for:
- General Photographs - what camera do you have and why to you like/dislike it, choosing which photos to scrapbook,
- Taking photographs - tips and tricks, help
- Photograph Organizing, Storing, Preserving
- Editing - Just the basics please
- Printing and Developing - as in where do you get yours developed, best price, etc.

I agree.....most sites I've found are set up by professional photographers, which is fine.....but, for the amateur like me.....I can never find an answer to a simple question because I believe they tend to forget about us little people.
I would also like to see a sub-forum where we could discuss the application programs out there for cropping, editing, etc and why they like them or dis-like them.
I would also like to see a gallery where we could upload our photos to have critiqued. I feel we can only get better as a photographer with suggestions from others. I know, this could be a HUGE amount of space on a server....but, it sure would be nice to have......
I'm not asking for toooooo much am I??......
did you see the video for the macro box for photographing cards? I know very little about photography but I did make this box in about 30 minutes and it does improve the picture quality. I will look for the link-brb

OOHH! I was so focusing on photos for scrapbooking I totally forgot about taking photos of CARDS, 3d items, scrapbook pages, etc!
From the gallery photos it appears I am not alone in my need for some helpful advice. LOL So the forum should be on it's own and not under something like scrapbooking. It would apply to many other things.
More subforums:
- Photographing cards, 3d items, albums, etc
- Editing photos before uploading to the gallery
I sooooo agree with you. I've even asked questions on sites and the answers are soooo over my head and I even stated I was a beginner. I even had one site respond....this is not a site for beginners. OMG, I couldn't believe it!! I took them out of my bookmark/favorites after that!! Plus, I have also found that some photographers do not like to share their knowledge, because you may take *work* away from them. I have no intentions of taking work from them, I just want to improve my picture taking techniques.
IF we can have a photography section/forum....I would really hope we could have a place that photo's could be shared...as a means of getting other idea's on what or how to improve ourselves.
For instance, I took this picture the other day and added a border to the photo. To me it needs something, but I don't know what......What do you think?? It would be great to have a place to get other's opinions on a photo, which in turn, I believe...would make me a better photographer. We all know scrapping is a way to preserve our history and heritage.
I would bow down for this one!!! we spend so much time, money, sweat and tears (sorry, got moving there...) and then are challenged with getting a good enough picture to post. Not to even mention the impact this has on our scrapbook pictures and don't ever forget about the little children.......:-)
Words of wisdom would be wonderful!!
I'm in!

we'll start with a single forum somewhere and see how it goes. I like to let things develop on their own, so if we eventually need sub-forums we'll add them later. tonight or tomorrow, post again and remind me if we don't get it added.
I ended up putting a very narrow dark gray border on the photo and it now looks finished. The picture is up in the High School Varsity VolleyBall display case......

Is one of the lovely ladies your daughter? My youngest DD made the varsity team this year, and I'd love to have a pic like yours! Very colorful, creative, and just beautiful.

No.....I only have 9 yr old twin boys.
The picture was really easy.....these gals are the seniors on the team and I had them lay on a white sheet with their heads together.....stood over them and shot the picture. As far as the tie-die shirts....I believe those came from one of the Mom's....her gift to the team. The back of the shirts have their team number and they wear them for the traveling tournaments. The girls just LOVE them.....and they get lots of compliments on them.
Congrats to your DD.....great accomplishment!! Now that you know how to take the picture, when will we see yours??
