Default Number of posts in a thread ?

Hi,

I was just wondering if all the old-old-old posts would be deleted if that would save some server room ? I was looking at one forum and there were over 300 pages of posts. (Does anyone really go back and read those ?) Once a post gets to be ____ weeks old, would deleting them help the speed/space issue ?

I am not net literate at all. It is just a question because I know when my system starts running slowly we delete old stuff and it helps a bunch.

The forum and the gallery currently run on different servers. While deleting files and clearing hard drive space fixes some speed problems on yiur home computer, Daven has told us that deleting photos won't fix anything as storage wasn't the issue. The gallery problems that necessitated the current upgrades were caused by traffic flow -- sorta like rush hour on the freeway!

Thank you Rachel...
I had not heard that analogy before. Rush hour traffic is a great example.

Default Wouldn't want pics gone...

I would not ever want any gallery pictures deleted ! What would I do when I need a card ! I was wondering about freeing up space by deleteing old posts here in the forum area. Didn't realize it was different servers and all that. I don't comprehend all this stuff. Just seems like over 300,000 posts readily available would take up lots of space. I have always wanted to take a computer class so I could understand all this better but never found one that fit my schedule.

Thanks for the info...
Have a super day,

Belle,

It is kinda the same principle with the messageboard. There is a lot of real good information and tips and tricks in some of the old posts and it would be as much a shame if they went away as if any of the gallery pictures went away.

Thankfully it is not a server space issue.
