Default Login Difficulties

When I log in, I keep the check in the box that says "remember me."

I can go from one page to another within SCS, and I do stay logged in. However, if I log out of my computer or shut the computer down, SCS does NOT remember me, and I have to log in again. I have been a SCS member for years, and this did not happen in the past.

I am using Firefox, and I have carefully combed through all of the settings, and I can't find anything that makes this happen. Cookies are enabled, etc. I wrote a PM asking for help, and after several days I received an answer from SCS, but it was a canned answer and ignored the specifics of the information I had detailed in my message. In other words, it was no help at all.

Your login information is stored in a cookie, which may be what was in the "canned" answer

Cookies are probably enabled, but there's something in either your firefox settings or your antivirus/windows firewall/ windows security (there are a lot of possibilities depending on your personal computer setup) that is clearing your cookies when you power down. That's the setting you need to find. Odds heavily favor a windows setting, not a firefox setting if it's only when you power down.

I'm working on a Mac, so it's not a windows setting and I don't need virus protection.

Well I'm not as familiar with Mac OS settings, but I'm sure it's similar to the windows OS setting. Maybe you can check your help documentation to see where the controls for clearing cookies on power down are or contact Apple help. We might have a Mac user that may pop in and have some wisdom for you
