Did I really just have a popup on SCS?
 

I just had a pop up appear on my screen while I was viewing the gallery! EWE!!! Did that really happen? Also, I'm a little concerned about some of the banner ads showing. Now, I'm not sure what "Adult Swim" is, but I didn't want to click on the ad to find out in case it took me somewhere questionable. The ad shows cartoon couples in the tropics, sipping a drink. I'm hoping the ad isn't promoting what I think it might be.

Seeing the pop up add was really disappointing. I hope that's not the direction this site is taking. I've never had that happen before, so maybe it was a fluke? Please tell me that it was! I would hate for SCS to be a site that approves pop ups, cuz I hate them! Also, I remember a long time ago when you said you were going to start accepting advertising, but that anything that ran would be related to stamping/crafting. Maybe I was imagining that too? I fail to see how the Dish Network, or T-Mobile have anything to do with crafting....can you guys clarify for me?

I'm not a mod, but I think it's usually something on your computer. Spyware is my guess. You can scan your computer with a free program call AdAware to try and remove the spyware. I included the link I found for the free download:

we're doing some advertising tests right now, but that will never extend to popups. we'll never run popup ads on SCS. you can't possibly hate them more than I do :^)

I've been planning to get an announcement and more info on the home page, but haven't gotten it done yet.

thanks for the feedback amy, your opinions and those of the rest of the community are what matters most to me. if the ads we're testing now prove to be unpopular and/or not relevant we'll discontinue them.
