excellent, and thanks for the compliments. we have lots of plans for the site and not enough time to get things done as quickly as we'd like

I approved your membership for the SU Demos area of the forums. Be sure and ask questions of folks there, I think you'll find that there are some VERY experienced demonstrators with lots of great ideas and experience.

Come back often, and be sure and let us know if you have any questions or suggestions for what you'd like to see!

This site is unbelieveable. I am so glad that I stumbled onto it. Great ideas! I am a new SU demonstrator too. I haven't had a workshop yet and I need all the ideas that I can get Thank's for all of your help. The cards in the gallery are absolutely beautiful. I can't wait until I can get that good. Anyway, Hopefully soon I will also be able to afford a digital camera. Thanks for all of your help[/quote][/b]

"unbelievable". that's a nice word glad you like the site.

a scanner is perhaps a less convenient alternative to a digital camera, but when it comes to cards it seems to give better results overall - better replication of colors and more consistent image quality. not that a camera does a bad job - that's what we use - but I cringe a little sometimes at the results, especially if we don't do some color correction on the files before uploading.

I am new to this site and I just love it! What a talented group of people!! Being new, I was wondering if there are any special instructions or rules about posting pictures, items, etc. I am looking forward to getting started. Thanks!

hi melwatz,

really nice to hear the positive comments, we're glad you're here. yes, there are some very talented stampers!

there aren't any special instructions or rules, though that would definitely be a good idea. I can think of a few things off the top of my head though:

1) make sure your scanned images or digital photos are saved in jpeg format. the jpeg format provides relatively small file sizes (making for faster uploads) and is generally the best format for photos or scans. for more info on preparing your cards for upload, read Forums at Splitcoaststampers.

2) for faster uploads, size your scans/photos down to 640x480 pixels or so before uploading. the software will downsize your image for you if it's larger, but larger images take longer to upload.

3) fill out the upload form as best you can. the more complete your information the easier it is for others to find your work.

4) you are welcome to create and fill your own private albums, but these are generally a little harder for other people to find because your cards don't show up in the 'latest photos' area of the index page.

5) if you don't see a stamp set category for your card, put it in the top level category (like 'A-F', etc.), then we'll add the category for you and move your card.

6) after you upload your card there'll be a brief delay while we approve the upload. this generally takes anywhere from a few minutes to a day or two (much more rarely). you'll get an e-mail notice when your card is viewable.

7) make sure and leave comments when you see someone's card you like! everybody loves to get praise and feedback on their creations.
