Search not working
I have a link in my siggy which is a search for IC58 (at least it is this week ;) ). But when you click it there are many cards that don't show up even though they *do* use the IC58 keyword.
This is Day 2 for me with the same problem -- I just came here to check if others were having the problem as well and apparently they are, so I know it's not just me -- we'll just have to be paitent, I guess. It's way beyond me to even imagine how all this stuff ever works right in the first place -- thanks SCS!!!
I counted 58 links to cards in your thread and 58 cards came up in the search from your siggy. Could you post a link of one that doesn't show up in the search that has ic58 in the kewords?

Not everyone links their cards to the thread. The last 6 or so cards from the thread don't show up in the search, but definitely do have the IC58 keyword. Makes me wonder if there are others who didn't link and don't show in the search that I am missing.
When I do a search for cc97 I do get one card, but it was posted with the wrong challenge number, so I would say that yes, in the last 48 hours an issue has creeped in.
Alright, is it only very recent photos which aren't being returned by these search results? Like photos posted within the last 48 hours?
also scott, someone mentioned on another thread having issues with items having multiple keywords. I know those are handled a little differently, so perhaps another condition to check?
but we understand you are doing all you can....this site really rocks....and you can tell how much we all love the site by how 'disappointed' we get when it is not working right...........thanks for all you do...........
and.............please DO fix ASAP....you have stampers with withdrawal problems.....lol...............and thanks
Still not working for me either :( Love to comment ont he cards, but it is hard when not everyone posts to the threads. Any hope in sight, do I see a light at the end of the search tunnel??...hehehe

Hmmm....maybe it is the 8 hour thing...not sure we knew that was a 'normal' now. I know the color challenge search - cc98 - wasn't working earlier today (around noon ET), but it looks like it is pretty full now (77 items). It may just be the 8 hour thing. And since the ones posted recently to the thread are not showing up, my guess is that it is the 8hr index.

I think that might be the problem. We are used to searching for the cards in that day's particular challenge, such as today's color challenge was CC98. When searched this morning only 4 cards appeared but there were close to 20 uploaded to that particular thread. It has been in the past where we could search and there was no lag time for indexing and the cards immediately appeared in the search. If I uploaded a card, I could immediately go the gallery, search the challenge keyword, and the card would appear. Now it doesn't. I think that's where everyone's confusion lies.

I'm confused! what a pain if we have to wait 8hrs! or longer

if scott feels like it, he can explain a bit about how the forum & gallery searches work and the monumental task it is for the server to keep up with.
we have over 4 *million* posts in the forums, for instance. did you know that (with some exceptions) almost every *word* of every post gets added to a (gigantic) index? like the index in a book but far more detailed, it keeps track of every occurrence of each word so that when you submit a search, it doesn't have to scan through the contents of the entire forum's history, but merely consults the index and returns you the results.
it's a miracle it even works at all, and scott has spent a lot of time maintaining and optimizing the whole process. makes me feel almost guilty for even posting! bow ye, one and all, to his greatness! :^)

So it should be titled "Scott's Exhaustive Concordance of SCS".
