Default Arranging my photos

Am I wrong? If I upload photos into an album then it doesn't seem to be viewed in the main galleries for others to look at???

I thought it would be good to have my photos categorized in albums but maybe this is not the way to go.

That is correct - an album is truly a separate space from the gallery - it can either be in your member gallery or an album, but not both....

It's not a dumb question at all!

Most people use them for photos of events and people - since those aren't allowed in the general gallery - or for RAKs they've received - which are cards they haven't created themselves, so it doesn't really make sense to have them in their member gallery.

Does that make sense?

Default Thanks so much

It makes much more sense now. I am wondering whether to edit my albums and make them more accessible! maybe too much time has gone by.

Default Never too late

I actually looked up the link that led to the video on how to upload. Bening deaf I couldn't listen to it but the graphics are understandable. 2 questions though: 1. what is the reference to face book on the tutorial?
2. are all photo uploads needed to be approved before being accepted. What is the purpose of this. it must add a lot onto someone's work load!

I hope you don't mind answering these questions. I will get out of your hair soon I promise!

Oh I like your sassy red Michelle you just added in your signature!

You can ask my any questions any time - I'm happy to help.

You can definitely move your photos out of those albums into your member gallery at your leisure - just click the drop down for category and choose member gallery and hit submit - it takes about 15 minutes for everything to update, so don't worry if you don't see the change right away after you hit submit - you don't need to do it again - just wait a little bit.

I would recommend doing that so that everyone can see your pretty work and so it's searchable Especially if you do any challenges on our site or on other sites you would want them to be in your member gallery.

I appreciate you telling me that about the video. I will definitely add text to my next video!!

The reference to Facebook is that here on our Splitcoaststampers Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/album.php......tcoaststampers - I feature our members work so that our stamping community over there can enjoy the eye candy. However, I will not feature cards that don't include at least the basic details of what the card was made with - stamps, ink, paper, etc. You certainly don't have to share that if you don't want to - we are happy that anyone shares their work and I know people are busy - but we definitely encourage it so that other members and new stampers can learn from our members. One of the ways we encourage it is by featuring cards that do have those details.

On moderation - yes, all of the 1000 + cards that are uploaded each day are approved first by a wonderful team of gallery moderators that volunteer their time. This is so that our gallery is organized - many times members will accidentally upload to a wrong category, and our mods fix that before it goes live. This makes our millions of photos easy to search.

Also, it prevents anyone from uploading a photo that is so blurry no one can see it, etc. or anything objectionable or offensive or non papercrafting related.

However, one of the many perks of joining our Fan Club is that members enjoy instant upload privileges - their cards go into the gallery right away. Also, we give our mods Sundays off - and Fan Club members can upload on Sunday.

All that sound good?

You can read more about the Fan Club here: Forums at Splitcoaststampers

Default Once again I thank you

You have been so helpful. I was unable to sleep (up at 4 am) and I can't do much housework or I will wake up others and so I thought I would upload a recently complete scrap book and 'discover' more about Split coast Stampers. I have always wanted to know what the little name "Rubber Obsessor" was under my name and I wanted to alter my public profile to include my new blog. Hence I went searching for answers. (Red is my fave colour).
It is now past 7am so I will have to look up the Fan Club another time as I have only another 10 minutes or so. As much as I love looking at SCS and various blogs, it does gobble up precious craft time which is why I have put off having a blog for so long as well as my lack of blog skills! I could have made cards instead of spending 2 hours online... Oh well... I enjoyed this too!

This was somewhat helpful with the exception that I remember seeing someone's gallery which was made up of albums or further defined galleries by type of cards they had posted. It was in one of the challenges. How does that work? I will try to find who it was again.

You can create albums if you'd like, but the disadvantage of albums is you can't enter card details - stamps, ink, paper, etc. and they don't show in your member gallery and are not searchable in the general gallery - so it's just like a real photo album - they're in there with the cover closed until you click in and look

I'm back Lydia and here is the gallery I remembered: Forums at Splitcoaststampers

I would love to organize my gallery into albums but also don't know how to do that once it is established but still want it to be available for viewing by others.

Thanks so much.

Not sure exactly what you are describing but if you are actually IN someone's gallery you can view their albums. SO if someone set up albums of different techniques within their gallery and directed you to their gallery you could view the albums. But you'd not see those cards if you were doing a word search or stamp set search. Clear as mud?

Also within cards in the main gallery you can search by key words (CAS, Masculine, holiday, SUO) and you would get an even more accurate view of what you are searching for.

Hope I haven't utterly confused you.

I got it now. I just went into each album and you do not see details for the individual cards. Ok, yes clear as mud. But I wiped off my glasses. LOL

ANd the only real reason you can see her things is because she's (or someone has) directed you to that member gallery. Those cards wouldn't not really show up readily anywhere else.
