Ads on SCS

I never see ads here at SCS and started thinking today that they disappeared about the same time I had clicked on an ad here on the site and got up to answer the phone and when I came back there were more pages open than I could count and had to force a shut down to get them to stop opening, I've had this happen with blogs too and thought they had a program to add up the hits so it looked good on their counter ;)...anyway, SCS is not overpowering with their ads and I did find some new companies and sales this way and was wondering if it's a problem on my end or SCS, any ideas?

BTW, I clear cookies often.

Hey Roxie!!

Let's see - a few things sound like they are wrong.

If you're not seeing any ads at all on our site, there's definitely a problem. either you have something running on your computer that is blocking them or you have a browser problem. You should be seeing crafty and general ads at the top and bottom of both the forums and the galleries.

However, I hate to say it, but that cascade of windows opening means your computer is infected with adware/malware/spyware or a virus. :(

I use AVG - which is free and very good. I would download that and run a scan several times and see if it doesn't fix both problems.

I see nothing but one ad (which does nothing when I click on it) at the very bottom of the page that says Internet Brands - Home and Lifestyle, so I'll have to run the virus program however we have a pretty good one that alerts us when anything has been caught.

I figured that logo out after I posted and thought to myself...Lydia is going to laugh at me now!

I never stop at just cookies I do it all every time because SCS is the only site that ever saves my password anyway and it's not that big a deal to type it in.

I did a clean and nothing showed up so maybe it's a server or an automatic update issue because I logged in on our laptop and I can't see them there either but it's no big deal, don't go out of your way to fix it. Maybe someday they'll just appear again...lol, I bet you don't get many threads concerning them not showing up!

When I saw this discussion, I realized I hadn't seen any ads lately either.
Then, I realized I had started using Mozilla Firefox a while back and it had an ad blocker. Splitcoast was blocked. Unblocked. Now see my ads. Thanks for calling this to my attention.

I have IE and we looked around for different settings and found nothing plus I did see them on other sites so you'd think if it were a server issue I wouldn't.

Yup, I'm missing them all! I looked around again today.
