I met a CM consultant who had one on both of her car doors and asked her if it got her any business. She said she had had it for two years and didn't get a single call.
I voted "NO" when this was first posted! The poll made me think about going ahead and calling a number on someone's car for a business that was advertised. so I did with great results! If you voted when this was first posted, it won't let you re-vote, but I would have to change my vote now to "YES"!
Yes, I called a realtor once because she actually had info about a specific house on her van. It was in a neighborhood that we really wanted to move to, so it caught my eye for that reason.
But I don't normally call people from these types of ads.
I never have called but there was a website listed and I checked that out. In addition to stamping, I also make jewelry and my main business is making t-shirt quilts. I just started the business last October and I am thinking about getting a sign for my mini van. It has a catchy name I think.......The Quilting Jeannie
I have called
~a rent-a-princess for my daughter's birthday party.
~an exterminator
~bad truck driver - looked like he was drunk, flyin down the highway at 85 swirving all over - wound up in a ditch he did while I was calling!!!
~rent a bouncy castle (b-day party also)
~CM consultant in my neighborhood when we moved
My husband had jsut decided that we did not need 13 years of paper work and wanted have a shredding party - so I saw the truck on the road and said PERFECT - so NOT going to waste my time standing over a shreader!!!
I have also called cleaning, plumbing and painting companies to get quotes for some projects we are doing!
Yes I have.....residential painting, the wife drove a white van with 'stencil' samples, and the hubby drove a white van with stripes and paint rollers. I thought they were pretty creative...and that's what I needed.....LOL They did an awesome job at my house!!
I can never remember the friggin' numbers! And it's too hard to write it down while I'm driving. BUT - I have contacted a few that have listed their websites. I go home and check out their websites, then call if I like them. Their websites are easier to remember than a phone number because then I can use word association to remember it (i.e. Barnaby Blinds - I picture Barnaby Jones putting up blinds).
But if you're thinking of putting your website info. on a sign - make sure it's easy - nothing like SU/janedoe/cincinnatti/lovestostamp/ etc. I'd never remember all that!
Also - another reason I don't call on some is because we live in a mandated 10-digit dialing area and have 2 area codes and they don't put their area code on their sign! DUH! :?
I was sitting in a parking lot and looked over....next to me was a truck that had a phone number for a handyman....I was in a pinch, needed a cupboard door fixed at a place that I was renting, had no tools and no know-how...called him and was very happy with the work.
i voted no because i have never actually called anyone... BUT i would. when we first moved here, a van went by with SU info on it, and i didn't have a demo here yet, so i TRIED to get the number. wouldn't sacrifice drively safely for it though, so i missed the number before it got away. had i seen it in a parking lot or something though, i definitely WOULD have called.
