Can you diecut Yupo paper?

I am just curious: can you diecut Yupo paper successfully? I was thinking about diecutting some snowflakes out of a panel that I have coloured with alcohol inks - but was concerned that a) I might damage the die, and b) the die might get stained from the alcohol inks.

Your thoughts?

If you're using a steel rule die (e.g. thick Sizzix dies), then I think you should be fine. I've cut thin plastic with those dies with no problems. They still work as well as the day I bought them.

I think that thinner dies are hit or miss.

My Cricut Maker could do it, but I'm not sure about my Silhouette Portrait. I don't think it can handle heavier materials.

I've definitely die-cut Yupo with regular etched dies. I haven't tried anything as intricate as a snowflake. I've done ornaments and crabs, not sure what else. Once I wait for the ink to be properly dry, I've never had any problems with it transferring to the die. Yupo does come in different weights, though, so that might affect the end result. I think I've usually cut my lighter one.

Thanks for your reply. I do have different weights of Yupo so will try the lightest one. The snowflake die I would be using isn't too detailed and is large so hopefully it will work.

I looked through my gallery and I seem to use Yupo more for die-cuts than anything else! Good luck, I'm sure it should work.

Yes, you can! I've used them on both Yupo paper and the translucent Yupo paper. I don't have the cards in the gallery yet but you can see them here in the beginning of this video - both were stamped/die cut using the Big Shot.

I've been cutting clear transparencies with thin dies. For that you need to add cardstock between the transparency and the die.
