Hey ladies,

It sounds like the end of September, I'm looking at my calendar right now, and Saturday the 24th would work for me. If we go with the weekday, Thursday, the 29th would work well. I'm trying to find a time when my husband will be home to stay with our 3 year old, so I don't have to bring both children. That sounds weird to say, but reality will set in soon enough

And remind me again, where am I driving too?

Have a great day ladies!!!

Smile I'm inviting myself too!! LOL :)

I live in lower SE Michigan, near Monroe. Howell is about an hour away and I go there all the time to visit Sis-in-law and family. (hidden lakes-S. Lyon)
Trenton and Wyandotte are even further East-yes, they are 'downriver'--I grew up in Allen Park. But anyway I would LOVE to see that craft room up close and to meet all of you! Especially that new baby!
I work full time during the week and have a 6 year old daughter so weekends would be the only time I could come, and she would have to come with me if it is a Saturday. Please keep me in mind if this should come to life!! awn Murphy

Well Dawn,

If you need to bring your daughter, I may even bring my son. He's a really (watch, I say this now, and that day he will be trouble ) great 3 year old, and I'm not kidding, he's a real ham, loves the ladies, loves to sing and dance. So, as long as our hostess with the mostess (and I mean what an incredible room, I'm sure the pictures don't do it justice) doesn't mind. I think the 24th may just work out. Yeah, a fun day of stampin' to look forward to!!!!

Not to put a damper on the party ladies.... but I know that Jennie does not have children... and her stamping area is not child-proof. She has a lot of stamp stuff that has cost her quite a bit to get together... and little fingers sometimes find their way into something they shouldn't.

I am sure everyone's child is wonderful! However stamping with multiple children around is not always enjoyable for everyone. If you want to plan a kid firendly event, that great.... I'm not sure this is it. Infants in carriers are one thing... but kids are much more active!

I hope I didn't offend anyone, but I thought I should at least let you know how I felt.

Talking Bringing my daughter....

I MIGHT have to is what I had said, never know if hubby is working or not. If this is a kid-free event I completely understand. Michelle stamps with me all the time and goes to the workshops with me and is my little helper so I can assure you she would not be getting into things. I would like to still be included in this event if possible, but if not, again, I completely understand. I will keep checking back to see what the hostess says. Stamped hugs, Dawn

I understand exactly what you are saying. Unfortunately, I will have to miss this wonderful opportunity because my husband is working, he's on a rotating shift (he works in the control room at a nuclear power plant), so it's hard to find weekends that work. Oh well, maybe if this stampin' get together goes well, there will be another for me to attend. Have fun ladies!!! I will let you know when the baby arrives. Have a good weekend!!!!

We'll miss you!!! I am sure there will be others... if we can get this one off the ground. If something changes though, we'd love to have you!

It looks like 9/24 might be the date we're going with... as long as it works for Jennie. She has had some internet issues, so I'm sure she will get back to us soon.

Ok, not that I'm trying to throw a monkey wrench into this....but....

If Tracy can't make it, should we try for a date in August? Didn't Jennie say that August was good for her?? (I'm only trying to get into that 'stampin heaven' room sooner!!.....LOL)

What 'cha think??

Jennie!! We need you to get those internet issues solved!!

OK, I am here! Sorry, I was gone all day Tuesday, had my catalog open house yesterday (two sessions) and I am at a Kindergarten conference all day today and tomorrow.

September 24th looks good to me. August is starting to fill up for me and I start back to school on the 24th and I had to move rooms so I have a lot of extra work to do to get ready.

Now let's see who is really interested in September 24th, what time frame we are looking at (from what time to what time) and if we want to do a special project such as swaps or shoe box cards.

As far as children coming, I don't have a problem with infants and children older than 5 that can handle being in the basement with all us crazy stampin' women for the day. It is probable not the best time to bring toddlers.

Let's take a count and then go from there (as my dad would say)!

Jennie....

Glad you're back!!

Sept 24th is good for me.

As far as time, that doesn't matter to me. I guess you should set the hour(s) you want us there!!....lol I can come for a couple of hours, or spend the day, doesn't matter to me.

Now, I'm fairly a new stamper, so can someone explain the swaps to me??

Default Let's finalize our plans!!!

Okay... so its Saturday 9/24.

What time works best for people??? And how long?? I know several people have a ways to drive. It takes me about an hour. I was thinking like 1pm - 4 or 5... or 12 - 3 or 4...??? Thoughts??? Really I'm up for anything... I could stamp forever!!! A few hours or all day.

Also, what are we going to do? (That may determine the length of time.) I was thinking it would be fun if everyone brought a project. Like the ink, stamps, and cut CS for one card for each person. Kind of like a make and take swap. Or we could just swap pre-made cards?? Or we could just bring our own stuff and just have a fun get together stamping whatever we wanted with our own stuff???

I know we can fit 12 with curent table workspace. We can start a sign-up to make sure we don't overbook our space. Just post here or send a PM if you are interested for sure.

1. Jennie (keeper of the awesome stamp room!)
2. Tracy P. (me!)
3. Audrey (driving from Midland)
4. Colleen
5. Dani
6. Kathy
7. Dawn
8. Michelle (Dawn's Daughter)
9. Leah H.
10. Dawn B.
11. Kim
12.

Those that live near Warren can ride out with me if you want. I have a neon, but may be able to borrow my mom's minivan. Just let me know!!

I really don't care what we do, I'm open to any of it. Just let me know what I need to bring and what's decided. I can stamp for a couple of hours or all day too!

How about a Christmas theme?? I wouldn't mind getting started with some Christmas cards??? (just throwing out ideas)

Count me In of course. Anytime frame is good with me. Swapping is great I like the idea of doing the make and takes. that would just depend on how much time we have.

Talking Count me down for 2!!

My daughter and I will be attending! I am so looking forward to it!

Just throwing out ideas again--how about if we all bring the ingredients to make a card (one set for each of the players) all pre-cut ready to go, then we'd only need to bring adhesive to put them together. I would definately go for Christmas cards, we are talking the end of Sept--not too far away from Christmas. Just an idea. I'm up for anything!
Jennie, would you like me to bring an appetizer, or would you prefer this to be a food-free event? I would be happy to bring something for all to munch on.

I think the idea of a shoe box swap is great. Everyone brings enough stuff to make one card for everyone attending. You have everything cut and all the supplies. We put them out on the tables and everyone goes around and makes each card. We can have a theme, or just make a card that you like. We can also bring stuff to stamp if we want to just play after the shoe box swap.

I would say lets start around 10. If that is too early we can start later, or those that want to come then can and the rest come when they want. We could have the swap a bit later when all arrive.

Food, of course bring food!! What is stamping if not for food and drink. I have a large area so we can take breaks and sit (away from our creations of course) and eat. I have drinks (soda, water, lemonaid, coffee and tea). We can each bring a treat to share. Sound good?

Talk later,
Jennie

Dawn - I have you and your daughter down. Michelle, right? Will she be participating in the swap?? Or just hanging out?? Just so we know how many projects we need to prepare.

Are we going with a theme??? At the moment I don't have alot of great Christmas things... but I have time to put an order in if that's what we decide. The holiday mini will be out by then!! I'd be fine with any kind of card though!

I'll also bring something to contribute to the food table... I'm not sure what yet.

Question Not in the West, but in the EAST of MI

Okay, so is there a group gathering starting up on the Eastern side of the state? I'm a little confused. I live in Orion, right off of I-75. It's North of Troy.

Count me in if it is on this side!

How about we all tell a bit about ourself?? Doesn't have to be much...I'll start.

I hit the last of my 40's this November.....lol I became a hobby demo this past April. So, I don't have much in SU stamp sets....yet....lol I work outside of my home as a Machinist for the auto industry....(so my hands always 'look' dirty...I hate it!!) I've been married since 1984. I have 6 year old twin boys...and a Chocolate Lab who turned 14 years old on Sunday.

So, since I'm fairly new to SU and stamping, I'll be the one asking TONS of questions that day!!.....LOL

NEXT.......

Talking My intro.....

This is Dawn Murphy, from Maybee (near Monroe-look hard, it's just a dot!)
Married for 9 years with one daughter-Michelle who is 6 and LOVES to stamp and create cards of her own to send out. I started a 'kids club' on my yahoo group so she can swap cards with other kids!
Jennie--YES, please include her as one of the card crafters that day, she would be crushed if she wasn't.
Anyway, I am 34, live on 5 acres and love to do papercrafts, gardening-this year we have 48 tomato and 48 various pepper plants--salsa anyone???, quilting, cross-stiching and reading. I have been stamping for almost 5 years, and scrapbooking for 4. I spend more time stamping as I send out over 90 cards each month.
I am so happy to know you call it "shoebox" cards, I run a swap like that but I call it 'Build A Card'. It's a dollar to join-I send you all the 'ingredients' to build a card, then you make the card and sent it to another person in the swap. Really neat to see what everyone creates with the pieces I send them--there is no master card-they have to create something of their own.
Anyway I am very excited about this get-together, I think I will be so nice to meet everyone! I plan on bringing homemade salsa and chips. Stamped hugs, Dawn

Hi girls,

I am Danielle Stoetzer. I live in St. Clair Shores and I teach Kindergarten for Detroit Public Schools, well that is if I don't get laid off again

I have a chocolate lab, Isabelle Grace that just turned 1 on June 30th.

I have been a hobby demo since February and I am leaving in a few hours for convention. I am my own best customer. ;)

Well it's late and I can't wait to see you all on the 24th.
Dani

Just a thought. what if we all did a different theme? That way those that don't have a lot of xmas stamps can choose what they do have. Plus we will walk away with just more than one holiday

I think that's fine, Colleen. Really, for a first time get together I thought we could all just bring any type of card... if things go well and we do it again, we could be more specific next time.

Opinions??? Thoughts???

I think any type of card is great. No pressure on anyone to stick to a theme.
