Hello everyone! It is a lovely, sunny day here in CA. After snow and rain all week long (Sunday-Friday), it is quite a switch today. Clear, blue sky, not many clouds, easy to see the snow covered mountains.
I'm hoping to get some crafting time in this afternoon. We'll see if it happens.
Jayne, that is funny that your DH loves that hardware store so much but isn't very handy at repairs. I hope you've had a fun time with your poppets (I'm sure you have!).
Jan, Michaels was DH's idea. Of course, activities are rather limited currently.
Shirl, I have been slowly adding to my Copics a marker or two at a time. Michaels had buy one, get one half off so I got a couple of E colors, nothing too exciting.
Sharon, that is horrible to be awakened by a scam phone call! So irritating!
I did not know about Hobby Lobby and their coupons, thanks for mentioning it. I have a gift card for HL and I'll be sure to use it up before the coupons are gone! They have the best coupon now. That is ridiculous that people are mad they are doing away with the coupon, they didn't have to provide one, entitled much? Michaels coupon has dropped to 20% off. Unfortunately, both HL and Michaels seem to be greatly reducing their stamp collections.
What kind of cheesecake did your granddaughter make for you, Dagmar? My DD2 was just craving cheesecake.
Melody, please keep that snow back there in WI, OK? Sounds like a good idea to do your Sunday lunch on Saturday, just in case.
Yay, Rebekah, I'm glad you were able to have some quiet time. At home quiet time is even better, in my book.
Kandie, I miss having MeTV. We had fun watching that channel when we still lived down the hill. LOL about your car driving itself to Michaels on its own!
Shelly, no, DH didn't ask if I needed anything that we purchased Thursday night at Michaels. As a matter of fact, I was on the fence about getting the Copics, but that is a good deal. I said something about getting them and he said, "Let's do it!" He's a great guy!
Yay for your DH fixing the snow blower and hot water valve. Keep us posted on what #3 turns out to be. Hopefully something minor - or nothing at all.
Kandie, your Sherlock Holmes journal is awesome! Love it. I received your Valentine today! Love those darling little vintage gals and thanks for the extra papers. You're so sweet!

Jayne do you remember that song where they used to keep saying rabbit, rabbit, didn’t it say you’ve got more rabbit than Sainsbury’s? (That’s a supermarket ladies) can’t think who sang it but I can see their faces, two blokes.
Kandie your journal book is amazing, I do hope you get a reply,
I made steve trifle, I don’t like it so I made four in my sundae glasses, he was very happy.
Aloha Sistahs!!
A fast pop in to say mahalo to sis Kandie for the gorgeous VDay card and extras!!
your so on it and it's not even Feb yet while I feel so bad I'm always fashionably late with getting my cards out .....especially those I have to get a ride to the PO for...mahalo for understanding!!
Much Mahalo for all the prayers for me and I definitely need to ask for everyone one of my kids and DH too we are definitely starting our worst then what we were in last year!!
Much love my prayer warriors!!
Ok I finished my Sherlock journal. Just for the fun of it, I’ve sent a photo collage to the Arthur Conan Doyle Encyclopedia website. Doubt if I’ll get a response, but I thought it would be fun to send.
Here ‘tis!
That is beautiful! I hope you hear something from them!!
Poor Opal had to run through some drifts this morning to go potty! Whew! I’m not sure we got all the snow, but it is suppose to continue snowing through the morning. It was windy though, lots of pretty drifts.
Kandie, can I ask you if you sew the inner folders in the outer folder before sticking the bits inside or finish them and then sew them in, I just thought I’d ask you before I stick my photos in the pages.
Wanted to stop in this morning and thank all my Alpha Sisters for the wonderfully kind and welcoming messages you sent to me when I was announced as a Dirty Girl this week beside our very own and very talented Melody! I am happy and thrilled beyond belief that so many of you were there ahead of us to show us the way! Thank you, my sweet friends!
My prayers this morning are with all of you in the path of that wicked winter storm! We seldom see even as much as a snowflake here on the Texas Gulf Coast. Stay in (some more) and stay safe!
Thank you, Kandie, for the Valentines. I must have been on your list twice, because I received 2 a couple of days apart. Each one as adorable as can be!! I LOVE vintage!!
Good morning ladies. We have snow. I don't know how much, but we're supposed to get more today. DH went to the gym to work out. He said he was the first car out of our subdivision, which hadn't been plowed, but the main roads after that were.
I have a beef roast cooking in the instant pot. I've always done them in the pressure cooker, so this is a first. Smells wonderful.
Good morning! I was happy to sneak some crafting time yesterday so uploaded my ocean card. Now to think about this week's card. Our snow is gone melted by the rain that fell after it. Our neighbor told DH that he put his rain gauge out Thursday afternoon and we've gotten 4 inches of rain since then - and it was completely clear yesterday and so far today so that is rainfall from Thursday afternoon to early Saturday morning. We've had lots of rain besides that and our neighbor said the ski resorts got something like seven feet of snow. So thankful!
I've done my workout and have the sheets in the washing machine so off to a good, though late, start.
Kandie, I showed DD2 your Sherlock journal and she loves it. She said it is beautiful. Her only Sherlock experience has really been with Benedict Cumberbatch in the role. She really enjoyed that show.
You don't like trifle, Jan? It looks so tasty to me when I see it. On the Great British Baking Show it looks like they have all sorts of ideas of flavors for it.
Vickster, you and your family are in my prayers. It is so wonderful to have you popping in again once in a while.
Snowdrifts are so pretty, Rebekah - as long as they aren't where I live! LOL Enjoy your quiet day.
That's a lot of snow, Kathy. I guess you'll see how wonderful the new snow blower is!
It is so exciting that Lynn and Melody are this month's new Dirty Girls!
Hmmm, I think the sheets are ready to be transferred. Chat with you later!
Still snowing. About 2 inches so far. I think we are supposed to get at least 10". DH shoveled a path to the shed and then turned on the snowblower just to warm it up! It's to early to start blowing it yet.
Evening everyone! We got 7 to 8 inches of snow! Sons worked for at least 2 hours on two plows to clear the drive and walks. I have a big driveway!
Kandie, that is a gorgeous journal!! I finished one for January with flowers and gave it to my granddaughter already. Now I have to make a Star Wars one for grandson!
Kathy, so glad you got the snow blower! Looks like we are in for it this winter with snow!
I saw on the news that people are out trying to buy snowblowers! That was us last storm. I'm glad we got one when we did. We haven't used it yet because snow is accumulating slowly tonight. The majority of it will come tomorrow.
Just letting you all know that my sil passed away this afternoon around 3:30 pm. I just heard now from my brother, Bruce. Wendy's pain had been managed quite well, but she had a terrible painful night last night and my brother did not get any sleep trying to help her. Her son, Robert came over today so Bruce could get a nap. When he woke up, Robert told him, he thought she was gone. Thank you everyone for your prayers. Please keep Bruce in your prayers.
So sorry to hear your sad news Shirl. Sending hugs and love.

Jan, I don’t think I saw that commercial..it may have been out after I probably left the UK. I love trifle but not with jelly in. I always make trifle at Xmas time.
I finally finished my Tickle card. It’s busy but I used lots of recycled products on it. Not sure when I will get to mail it now that we are back in lockdown. It’s only lockdown for this week so far but if more cases come out of the woodwork our Premier will make us go for longer. After 10 months of being able to do what we wanted I think we became complacent and now a security guard has caught the virus..the new UK strain. He’s been out and about to so many places in the community. Everything but supermarkets and medical centres are closed for the week and we now have to wear masks when we go out. We are only allowed out for exercise and essential food shopping. The poppets were due to return to school today after summer holidays but that’s no longer happening. All schools will remain closed. What a turn around. Apparently the shops were manic yesterday when the announcement was made. I usually shop today but we decided to manage and thank goodness we have those meals I froze in readiness for my op that now isn’t happening. We are down to our last pack of loo rolls but as it’s a 24 pack we should be ok lol.
I also posted my February theme cards so I can start on March now. Time goes so quickly and it will be my last month for the themes...wow that went quickly.
yesterday I remembered the chat and today pfft it’s gone. I hope everyone is well and finding joy.
Ann/Sharon, I might try and get on the zoom call again. I’ll text you if I wake early enough on Wednesday unless I persuade DH that I stay up lol. I need to do some samples for WTUI and others.

I am so sorry to hear that your sister-in-law has passed away, Shirl! Your brother and his family will be in my prayers during this time of great loss!
Jayne, I just started to think about the February theme and you are on to March! Already I am behind!
Shirl, I'm sorry for your loss. Praying for Bruce and family.
DH is out blowing snow. It works like a charm. We are to get more snow yet but we didn't want to wait because it would be twice as hard. Although the snow blower we got says it will remove 18 inches of snow easily. I'd say we have 8 inches right now with 4-8 more expected.
I love the auto save feature! I lost everything trying to upload a picture and was able to recover what I wrote!
Kathy, I bet you love having your DH retired and home with you!
I do. But he's overprotective and yells at me when I try to shovel! I know he is worried I will hurt later, but I love doing it and I worry about him overdoing it to. Just so grateful this blower has power steering and reverse. It's a monster! I'll have to ask him how the heated handles were.
His one coworker texted him this morning that they need shovelers to go in to work. He retired at the right time! When there's snow, everyone has to help, even if they aren't part of the grounds crew.
Good morning! I had such a good weekend stamping and decluttering my house. This morning felt so fresh and good!
I’m starting a Budget Bootcamp and am excited to heal from overspending in my own personal budgets. Or maybe that’s just life as a creative lol!! Hoping to change though!
This week I have a date with Phebe my 7 year old and a date with DH on Friday night. Yay!!! That’s good inspiration to get through the week on happy vibes!
Good morning and happy February first! Already! Wow, January went fast.
Jayne, I figured out what rabbiting was, I suspected it was “hopping” from subject to subject, lol. Love your phrases! Ours might be “going off on a tangent”.
Kathy, I went into the craft room between 9 and 10 each day, and came out, other than bathroom breaks, between 3 and 4, so roughly 6 hours a day, every day. At that rate it took me about a week to do it all.
Victoria, continued prayers, my friend.
Rebekah, we were told by the weather people 8 to 12 inches, then 6 to 8, it turned out to be just over 5 of the heavy stuff. Then, because of our closeness to Lake Michigan, we got a few inches of lake effect snow, that powdery stuff that looks so pretty and blows of your car when you drive it.
Jan, I sew in the page sets first. Then I go through and put in the big stuff, pockets and tuck spots. Then I go through and put in maybe the middle-sized stuff, pretty things to go in the tuck spots and pockets. Next is all the small stuff including decorative touches and smaller things for the pockets, the bigger papers hold the smaller ones in place. Last are the sentiments and any fabric touches, buttons, stuff like that. When I’m done with all that, I put on the closure. So I go through the entire journal several times. Then I go through it one last time. And then park it on a shelf, lol.
Lynn, you got two cards because I couldn’t remember from one day to the next where I left off because I forgot to check off the addresses, lol. Enjoy!
Catherine, I’m glad your DD2 liked my journal (and Mr. Drool Cumberbatch!). She might like to also watch Robert Downey Jr, he is so good at action moves, and is ornery as all get-out!
Ann, a Star Wars journal, how FABULOUS! How great is THAT!!!
I’m thinking of doing an Agatha Christie featuring Miss Marple journal next! And then maybe a Hercule Poirot... or maybe both in the same book!
Shirl, I’m so sorry to hear about your SIL’s passing. Her poor husband. All I can say is she won’t have any more pain. Her family, on the other hand, I send my condolences and prayers. Such a difficult time.
Jayne, I keep hearing on the news about Australia and the UK virus or African virus, maybe it’s the same thing. I’m so glad you both cooked meals ahead. Stay safe.
Jan, what a great orange tree photo! Yum!
Kathy, wow, what a yard you have. So thankful for your new snowblower, whoohoo!!!
