Jayne I haven't volunteered to do a challenge, I think I'd be better leaving it to you ladies who know what you are doing!!!!!
Jan you don’t have to but you have lots of knowledge to share. It’s just a case of finding a video...nothing hard...on a technique we haven’t tried. All good take care

For October 1, I'm working on uploading videos and I'll be posting a panel that I made after watching Jennifer McQuire's Watercolor and Texture Paste and Tim Holtz's demonstration Texture Paste CHA 2015. I also watched a YouTube video comparing Texture Paste & Embossing Paste. Check back soon! Sorry I'm a bit late.

Gracie, please take your time. I don’t have any tips yet today. My mind is on at least 20 other things, and it’s not like I don’t have tons of projects saved to try out!!!

I chose three videos to help me learn how to use texture paste, since I'm a newbie to all this mixed media fun! They are on the "Challenges Only" thread:
Jean, just check the first post on this thread for open dates, chose one and send Jayne the info. on the date and name of your challenge.
You post videos on the MMJ "Challenges Only" thread. I watched several videos, then created my panel, which I posted on this thread. I copied links to the youTube videos to post them. The first time, the videos showed up when I accidentally posted them on this thread...wrong. So I deleted them and added the links to the Challenges Only thread...this time only the link showed up and not the actual video. I'm not sure why. I used the "blue circle link" attachment symbol. I'm not too tech saavy.

If you are wondering what you can do with your distress oxide inks, I came across a fabulous video with 25 techniques. I'm planning on making a sample booklet with brief instructions on how to do each. I would suggest you do the same.
I’ve just watched Gracie’s videos for her challenge. Some great tips on there. I can’t wait to play with my pastes and embossing powders.
Tip from me...I found Rangers Texture Paste dried hard in my jar and now I can’t use it. Not sure if anyone else has found this. I ended up buying other brands. I always now, whether it’s gel medium, paste, gesso, put gladwrap (cling film) on top of the jar before the lid. I’m finding this helps. Of course it could be our climate.
Also, if I have paste on a stencil I never waste it. I always put the stencil either onto a journal page or a panel. Waste not want not lol. Then I wash or wipe it with a baby wipe.
Can’t wait to see what you all create...thanks again Gracie..great challenge.

I finished Kandie's last MM Crayon challenge this week finally and HERE is my journal page.
Have to say I previously disliked the crayons but now I am a huge fan. I love how videos will teach you to do things better.
I just watched all Gracie's texture paste videos and started my creation. I had a playing card catch fire a bit - it was very exciting! Don't try heating plastic coated playing cards with Tim's glazing technique unless you are very careful! LOL! I am going to still use it...be watching.....
Melody, I am definitely checking out those ideas.
Happy Friday everyone!

Gracie and me lol. Nancy, be careful...I was heat drying some thin paper a few weeks ago and that started to smoke.....I would not want my craft room to get on fire. The stuff that would go up so quickly. Oh my.
Happy weekend everyone. I’m intending to get messy. Hugs

I just posted my card for Gracie's fab texture challenge HERE. I am going to play several times as it was fun and I still need to use the playing card that caught fire - I am thinking a Halloween card for it - lol!

I was up early after being inspired last night by the MMJ02 videos for Neutrals. I sure have a Mixed,nMessy Joyful mess in my Craft room. Ha ha I will add the full description where I post to my gallery. I am posting the image here of the first picture I took where I decided the focal oval was way too dark so I painted some water thinned, Titan Buff Acrylic over it. It did lighten it, but I sponged on some Antique linen DI to give back some color.
I tried several different types of crayons - gelatos, water soluble wax pastels, and water soluble oil pastels with brushing gesso over the top. I was really happy with the first two - not so much with the oil pastels, but that may be because my gesso is really thick-bodied. Maybe if I watered it down some, the result would be better. I still want to try watercolor crayons. My card is done with gelatos.
Everyone's creations are looking great! Mixed media is such fun but it can take a while, especially with drying time. I'm looking forward to doing Gracie's challenge with pastes.

Hello, I need a little advice. I would like to start sort of an art journal/scrapbook because, as some of you know, I like Zentangle, and I have all these loose pieces that I'd like to gather together in one place. I've framed some, used some on cards, but these are from a project pack from Zentangle.com and I think they'd work best in a book of some sort. I really don't want to permanently attach them so I was thinking about pockets. I'm tempted to buy a Dylusians and Dina Wakely journal and add some mixed media backgrounds. Or would you make something from scratch with papers etc. you already have? I'll try to post thumbnails of a couple of tiles so you can see what I have. Thanks.

Those are beautiful, Jean. I would make something from scratch, but then, that's me. I hate to spend money on something I can make myself. Pockets sound like a great idea. I wonder if you could make the pockets from vellum, so you could sort of see the pieces through the vellum. Or possibly from window sheets (clear acetate).
I would do the same as Melody and start your own journal from scratch. I have one going and plan to start a new one using double page spreads and for techniques. The Dina Wakley and Dyan Reavley ones are good but the BGs are theirs. I prefer to create my own. I love pockets.
I would definitely use those zentangle pieces on a project. Absolutely gorgeous.

I agree with Melody! I was going to suggest the same thing! Gorgeous Jean!

Hello, everyone. I have finally finished my first junk journal, and it has preoccupied me for a week! I was going to post the pictures on the Alpha thread but they’ve closed shop on round 13, so I’ll post them here! Sorry for so many!
Ah, I see they downloaded in reverse order!

Kandie it is beautiful. When I did my sister’s journal a few years ago (in my gallery) I did a pretty one using Heartfelt Creations papers. I loved doing it and it took me week to do. The small one I did took me 2 days and that one isn’t pretty but full of junk papers and stuff I found in my letterbox. I have to make one for a friend and I will do pretty for her. I like both styles but found that there wasn’t many pages to write on in the junk journal. Maybe I just used the wrong papers lol. They are fun to make though.
What will you do with it and will you make another? People sell them on Etsy.
You definitely should post it under the journal gallery.
Happy day everyone and what’s everyone working on. I’m doing a card..it’s very MM. I may try something else. I’m just going where my brain goes lol

Good morning! Thank you for the compliments on my journal. This was my first try at a journal with lots of pockets and secret hiding places. It focuses on pink roses and is for my DD1 who loves roses. I have one to make for DD2 who loves her flowers and birds, and I started one last night for myself which features lavender.
Jean, take a look at my journal pictures. Maybe you can get some ideas for pockets. Depending on how big you want to make your journal, paper can be folded up and glued on the sides to make pockets. Velum is a wonderful idea.
