Linda, since you can't play, why don't you spread some love by leaving comments on cards! That could be your new joy in life! Making people feel good by commenting on their pretty cards!
Catherine, have fun on your vacation! Yay! Happy birthday to DD2! I loved the old photos you posted on the other thread! You look the same! Such darling girls.
Kandie, I'm so glad my card and goodies arrived.
Kathy, glad you're feeling better. What a great idea for Linda to browse and comment on the DTGD cards.
Yay, hello SIS VICKY! So nice to hear from you.
Ann, I hope you’re getting caught up on your rest. You don't want to get ill. Stress wreaks havoc on our minds and bodies.
Jayne, how are you doing? I can't wait to get back in my craft room. We took our visitors back to the airport today. I'm tired tonight and it is nice to just sit and relax. They were very gracious and easy to be around, but a week is a long time.
Hi Shirl, Sharon, Melody, Annette, Shelly and all I've missed.
Going to put my feet up and enjoy the evening! Later!

Leaving comments is not as fold filling making cards for people. I know it just important but it not has fold filling to me. I just explain it. If you know were I coming from.

Hi everyone! Just a quick pop in from our vacation place. We have an AirBnB in South Lake Tahoe. The lake is gorgeous but the sky is filled with smoke. Apparently there is a fire a ways north of the lake burning so hot that it started a firenado, yes, you read that right, a fire tornado! Yikes!
Jan, in Auburn, CA there is a large statue of a man panning for gold. At Christmastime they decorate him with a Santa hat. I showed DD1 your statue with a mask and she said, "They should do that to the gold panner!"
The talk about the TV reminded me of a story my mom told me about when my oldest brother was probably 4 or 5 (at which point he was still an only child because the brother between us hadn't been born yet either). He was getting dressed in the living room because it was warmer in there and the TV was on. Apparently whoever was on the TV, was looking straight at the camera and saying, "I see you!" very seriously. She said my brother was concerned that they really could see him...poor guy! So cute.
Gracie, you are just getting back to your craft room and I'm away from my craft desk!
Wow, a lot of chatter! Hello Sis Vicki! So good to hear from you. Have a great vacation, Catherine!
Ann, get rested up for DTGD!
I don’t know what else I read; I forgot it already.
I went to the dentist today, and good report, and clean teeth.
We went out to eat Covid style. Wore our masks in to Mr. Goodcents, picked out our subs, then brought them home and ate them, actually half at lunch then the other half for dinner.
I did the technique challenge today and the FS challenge twice yesterday! I think I am getting warmed up for DTGD, just hope In don't get burned out by then! LOL
Getting ready for bed, DH already there. So g’nite.
Catherine stay safe, our son just emailed to say he has had to get his generator out as san Mateo country can’t provide enough electricity for the county, he’s not a happy bunny!Hope you aren’t in that county on your hols! Have a great time, Happy birthday to DH.
Gracie it’s always nice to relax after having visitors,
Shirl congratulations on your card being chosen for the CC challenge. I also saw that our dear Kandie is now a hostess on there...congrats Kandie. Your creations are awesome.
Catherine stay safe and away from the fires. Enjoy your hol.
Yay Gracie is back. Rest well and get back into your craft room LOL
Linda, I agree with Kathy, so many people would love to read your comments. Otherwise just go on the DTGD chat thread and chat. There's so many people go on there during the event and that will stop you from being bored for a little while.
It's raining again. I'm heading to my play room later.

I think, Linda, you said you are no longer a fan club member, so no access to the chat thread, but you can certainly enjoy the gallery, even if you don't want to comment. However, you know we'd love your comments.
I got happy mail from Kandie....thank you for my birthday card Kandie. It’s gorgeous. DH is very impressed with your writing. He says it’s so stylish and was ooh’ing and aah’ing over your J’s and B’s LOL. Thank you heaps.

Ok, I have slowly and methodically cleaned up my craft mess from yesterday. My table is now a clean slate, and I can begin today’s project.
Whatever in the world that might be. I haven’t a clue!
Shirl, congrats on having your CC card chosen as fave!!!
Jayne, thank you for any and all compliments, lol.
DH just dug up an old scrapbook in the basement that looks like it was a child’s project for Home Economics. Cutouts of fruit and vegetables glued to pages, recipes from the newspaper, and descriptions of each food category hand-typed on a manual typewriter. That must have been a few years ago.
Tell me, my friends. At what point does saving every interesting piece of packaging, all junk mail with usage possibilities, every paper towel, baby wipe and dryer sheets, and everything else that is possible for a mixed media or any kind of project, become less than just collecting interesting bits and more of a VERY BAD ADDICTION.

Annette, I’m so sorry! Your envelope with vintage papers was buried under other stuff! I will send them to you today, and if you decide you’re not interested in doing the mixed media thread, just toss them in the trash!
Or did I already send yours, and this is someone else’s envelope?

Kandie I think it becomes an obsession saving everything, even our friend saves stuff for me, he fitted new taps for us and they came in a bag, he saved it for me, he even joked a wooden pallet was for my crafting. The family all save bits of ribbon and our son brings fancy boxes in his case even his boss sent me some fancy boxes!
Kandie I did home economics at school for O levels, it was nutrition, cooking etc, I really enjoyed it but some of the stuff we had to cook, !! My dad always ate it although he said he dreaded seeing the cookery basket , ha,ha I loved planning menus which was part of the course , our cookery book had recipes for invalids etc. I doubt anyone would cook any of the recipes in it nowadays.
So the pool man was supposed to come at 9am, at 10 he still hadn’t arrived so Steve rang to be told he couldn’t make it but he would come tomorrow, Steve said no he has blood tests etc I’m at the hairdresser, anyway eventually he arrived only to find the part we thought was leaking had stopped but another pipe was dripping, took five minutes to fix, thank goodness, no charge but Steve gave him some money to buy himself a drink to say thanks, all done,
I spent the time cleaning and baking a lemon curd tart to use some pastry I had.
Oh, a lemon curd tart sounds yummy, Jan! Glad you got the pool fixed today.
Congratulations Shirl on your CC card chosen as Chris' fave last week! Liz let me know that my record player card "An Oldie but a Goodie" for the DD August challenge is at the top of SCS home page! So excited! Yay!
Kandie, I know what you mean! Everything I see becomes a piece of mixed media art in my head, so I save it. I think we have a problem. LOL Oh well, there could be worse things to collect. We'll have to start a MMAnonymous group!
Ann, I have to get my rear in gear and finish my DTGD20 samples. Hope you have a good day.
Jayne, I have to go check out your work from last evening.
Catherine, I hope your enjoying your family and vacation!!! Fun.
Hello to all...I really have to get creating now. Bye

It all depends on what you DO with it. How many pieces of junk mail, packaging, paper towels, etc. should you keep? I have to say I'm guilty along with the rest of you. However, ask yourself are you using it? By the time you actually want to use it, how many more will pass through your hands? or will you be able to find the ones you collected? I save every cereal box, cracker box, etc., because I KNOW I'm going to use them. All those ink storage racks are constructed from cereal boxes. Junk mail - yes I've saved some, only to toss it weeks later, because I will probably not use it or be able to find it if I want to. Paper towels (I'm assuming those full of ink?) - keep a few, toss the rest if you are making more as you play. You get the picture? If it is something that is totally unique, and you really think you will use it, keep it. Otherwise, get rid of it.
Oh Gracie, yes, it's getting closer to the start of DTGD!! You better move it move!! LOL!
I'm all done with the challenges, but will combine some with the weekly challenges to get more attention hopefully from fan club members to play along!
My challenge is on Sunday ladies! Hope you like it!
Shirl, you can use those like a stencil, or with a gel plate, or actually use a piece on mixed media. I don't buy fresh onions. DH is allergic, so I just use dried or powder for my own cooking.
I think the envelope was probably mine, Kandie. No worries. I will have it to play with later.
The heat here has totally zapped me the last few days and I only got a few hours sleep last night. It will be an early night for me. I'm looking forward to DTGD. DH is helping our daughter move ont the weekend, so I will have Saturday and Sunday to myself to play. Anyone want to video craft then? If so, can we still use the same zoom chat , Ann?
Time to go make a quesadilla on the bbq. Have a good evening all!

Lol re junk mail and items for MM. before I decluttered I had 3 baskets overflowing of stash for MM. I dumped it all except some bubble wrap. Now one basket is full again, 2 drawers and I have 4 cereal boxes lol. I try and be selective but I see possibilities in everything. Even DH asks me now if I want something before he bins it. Such a keeper lol.
Shirl, go girl and get that stash out of the bin lol
Kandie, you were going to send me some of your stamp paper...not sure if you have but if the postage is too high please don’t worry. I’ll survive...just lol. Joking. Seriously I don’t expect it. I’ve asked my sister to look out for books for me as they go to antique fairs...oh wait there aren’t any at present lol.... but not sure when I’ll be able to get them. Plus there’s only so much you can have. I’m tearing up paperbacks at present and I love books. Every time I rip a page I feel guilty. Fortunately the book was falling apart.
Gracie, will see where your record player card is. It’s awesome. I saw that our MMJ thread was in today’s SCS newsletter..whoohoo. Gracie have you found our thread yet..not seen you there?
Annette I was planning to craft all day Saturday and Sunday night. We’ve now been asked if we can babysit the poppets all Saturday so bang goes my day but I may do some craft with them and if you ladies are online we can pop on and craft with you for a while. Now that would be interesting lol. I’ve just told DH I’m crafting Sunday night, your morning if anyone else is playing.
I’ve also got quite a free week except for Tuesday morning and keeping it that way so far. I’m just going to do what I can on the challenges and not stress if I miss some.
Son3’s car blew up yesterday so it’s in the garage and he was here all day and still here lol. DH is taking him to his gym soon. He did help me get my jigsaw going.
I’ve got the Drs later but most of the day is play time..yay yay yay

Hi everyone! We've had a lovely day at the lake. Today is DD2's actual birthday and we had her cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and then a fun day at the lake. We were able to visit a historic site and look into the buildings. No tours but the buildings were set up for looking at from the outside.
After that we went to the lake where DD2 and DH actually got in and swam. DD1 and I stayed on towels on the beach with our books. So much cooler here than back at our house.
Yes, Jan, due to the high heat wave in CA, they are doing rolling brownouts because the electricity demand is higher than they can supply - partially because some of the power is provided by solar and there have been overcast skies where the solar panels are. I think our power was turned off yesterday evening, of course, we weren't there.
Shirl, that would have been scary to have the guy on TV tell you not to touch that dial when you were headed to change the channel!
Congrats, Shirl, on your card being selected as the favorite! And congrats to Gracie too!
How is that crafting coming, Gracie?
We had some rain yesterday evening which cleared some of the smoke out though it was building up again in the afternoon. Here are a few photos of where we are.
Beautiful area, Catherine! I am glad you are cooler there. I can see your other DD that is taking the photo in the reflection of the window. Cool photo!
Love your pictures Catherine! I had to go back and look, and yes, you can see your reflection in one of the pictures! How wonderful! I hope you can find the time away relaxing and fun too!
My hubby had a baseball game tonight (they lost by 1 run), and it was an hour away, so I planned on spending the evening creating. A neighbor sent me a message that a local kid was on Chopped- a cooking show tonight, so I had to watch! He was in my son (the twins) class in school and we knew him well. How exciting! I did make it to the craft room and caught up with Jayne and Gracie who were cardmaking. I got my technique and color challenge card done.
Happy Birthday Liz!!! Liz, I hope you have a great time visiting Lynn and hope the two of you can have some crafty time! I know my card did not make it on time as I have not mailed it yet......
LOL, Shirl, I have a bag or two in my stash to use at some point....and have not used them yet! LOL
Catherine gorgeous photos, it’s just as I imagined it would be.
Shirl I have onion string bags that I have used for stencilling and other string type bags, bubble wrap , well anything really!
I’m feeling light headed, I’ve had my hair cut and highlights, it’s a little shorter than I intended but it’s so hot it will soon grow, I was the only customer apart from lynn the hairdresser and sally, , I think she does nails, anyway I was there for two and a half hours but we all spent the whole time catching up as I haven’t seen lynn since last year, All with masks on and we had a cup of tea, it was very enjoyable. Don’t normally like going as it seems a waste of two hours, LoL
Good morning, ladies! Happy Wednesday. I thought all day yesterday that it was already Wednesday. I was wondering why the watercolor challenge wasn’t up yet!
Jan, lemon curd tart sounds delicious, especially with a cup of coffee. And I do believe your pool is your problem child, lol.
Judy, very cool on your record player card! And I think we may have to have two new threads starting, not only MMJ but also MMA!
Melody, I knew you would be logical about excess ephemera, lol.
Ann, thanks to you, move it, move it song is now stuck in my head. Love that song!
Shirl, I laughed when you mentioned onion bags. I also have orange mesh bags!
Annette, thanks, I thought it was you! The envelope is in today’s mail!
Jayne, yours was mailed a week ago!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, LIZ!!! Wishing you a terrific day!
Catherine, reference to funny TV comments, I remember my cousin asking me if she looked better with or without glasses. I said she looked better without. The TV in the living room said “you don’t see too well, do you?”
It’s time for our U card already? I still haven’t had an idea for the TY yet!

I was in kind of a slump yesterday, still getting used to the BP pills. I get the dizziness about 15 minutes after I take it, DH said learn to deal with it, he’s been on the pills for years and he still gets dizzy. And he was grumpy, he has to work a sale this weekend and he gets irritable if he doesn’t know what’s there ahead of time. Luckily, he was called in to help price today, so he feels better.
I plan to go to Hobby Lobby, Michaels and Joanns. I’m looking for specific things, I have a list. I checked the weekly ads of all three stores, nothing I want on sale.
You know, I had no idea Joann Stores had such a huge online paper crafting inventory. Speaking of, I believe my new heat gun is to be delivered today. Good thing, because I did some embossing last evening, wasn’t paying attention, and blew green embossing powder everywhere!

Kandie, I was joking and didn’t expect you to mail all the way to here but I shall treasure whatever you have sent. Thank you so much. I hope you buy some nice goodies.
I’m heading to bed. Just taken more meds and hopefully I will feel better tomorrow. Back at the Drs Friday.
Have a great day everyone

Kandie, so sorry to hear about your BP meds. So frustrating. Your DH sounds like mine, some of his favorite lines: "Walk it off." "Suck it up." "It could be worse, you could be 6 feet under." "Minor in the big scheme of things." "You're still above ground." Such a sympathetic man! LOL
I did get a couple cards done yesterday and was able to chat (or at least listen) to Jayne and Shelly. My internet is so slow, delayed speech and it freezes every now and then. So annoying. Oh well, I'll be back in Arizona soon.
Jayne, I hope you're feeling better tomorrow. Sleep well.
Catherine, I'm so glad you could get away and spend time in the outdoors with family! Wonderful photos! So beautiful there.
Ann, I have one sample left to make for DTGD (that is the ones that I signed up for...not all of them!) I'm behind on Alpha challenges and lots of other ones that I'd like to do. Where does the time go?
I off to my mom's today! Praying for a good day. I'm going with a positive attitude. I realize she's not aging well, she was always so strong and independent. I'm sure she's frustrated as she can't do everything she used to do. I have to be patient and just listen (which is hard sometimes because she never stops talking!) ;)
Have a great day all...gotta run!
