The sun is shining here too. Just got back from our walk. Sweater weather rhis morning, but this afternoon will get up to 24 degrees.
I spent a lot of time last week with my Canadian grandkids. During the week, I guided my almost 8 yr old grandson with sewing a hoodie for the first day of school. For starters those two boys (his brother is 4) will be attending an outdoor school one day a week, separate days. My daughter is keeping the boys out of regular school for the first month or so, as they both have asthma. Our area has been fairly clear of outbreaks, but she wants to see how things progress. Leif is good with wearing a mask, but Neil, the 4 year old is not.
Leif was so excited about the outdoor school, and loved his teacher, that he wanted tobsew a hoodie for the first day. They went to the fabric shop, and Leif pucked out the fabric and pattern. Seeing as my daughter doesn't sew, that was all they got. The 1960's era machine that they got from the other grandma did not work, so Oma had to come to the rescue with her machine (and expertise) I laud out the patern pieces on the fabric and with Leif's help, we pinned them on. I pinned the fabric pieces together, and after a brief instruction and som practise, Leif did almost all the sewing. He even learned to rethread the machine, after being instructed how only once. Here he is, in his finished hoodie.
Tried to upload a photo, but could not.

Our 4 year old GS starts school on Wednesday, for half an hour, story time, next week is Hal days and then eventually he will go full time, he’s been at kindergarten since lockdown ended and is fine, thank goodness.
Wow Ina he’s talented and to make a hoodie..cute. I showed our DGD how to thread my machine a couple of months ago. Not sure either of us will remember lol. She does like to see..and craft. That makes me happy

Leif is an unusually gifted high functioning autistic. What they do, they do well. Other things, maybe not so much. He needs to be able to get up and run or jump when he gets excited and accomplishes something. The trampoline in the backyard is really vital for him.

Wow Ina he’s a talented boy, not sure I could make a hoodie!
Funny thing Jan, he bought a knit fabric and I never sew with knits because that is harder, but fortunately, it was not too stretchy and a little trial and error, by him, on a scrap piece of the fabric, managed to find the right stitch. My machine is not fancy and only has a choice of about 6 different stitches, so it didn't take long.

I’ve tried to sew with stretching material, it’s hard to do, mind you sewing is not something I’m good at, I have made curtains and blinds but it’s not something I enjoy
Awesome hoodie Ina. I just said to DH I think I will teach our poppets how to knit and crochet sometime as I think it’s good for them to learn and even boys. I read an article about a boy here who makes all his own teddy bears and started a business and still young. Amazing. DH said that’s a good idea and maybe they can learn how to sew and fix my jumper, teddy bear and golf trousers lol....he keeps asking me and I do not like sewing by hand and still learning on my machine lol. His teddy needs repairing and I bought the fabric about 18 months ago. Maybe I teach the poppets to sew first lol. Now that’s a thought.
Happy day everyone.

It's the first Thursday of the month. Time for another challenge. This month it is all about water. During Covid-19 there has been a lot of emphasis on washing hands and cleansing surfaces. And I have spent a lot of time on the lake in the kayak, and also at the beach and river. So lets feature water images, and also the use of water on our cards. Have fun!

Yup I am on nights. Yup I am analytical. This makes it easy to clean and throw away stuff. The weather is interesting as we have a gorgeous cool day and then it warms up. I love the cool days of course. If I can get a cooler then I can clean out my chest freezer and cook. Grumpy wants pasta sauce and I want to get some soups going... Umm OK I am rambling
Waving and popping on to say hello as I have too much to do today and I get sidetracked on here lol. Hugs and Lynn...I crashed last night and finally slept. I still could sleep now lol

Its too bad we can't time the crash for a weekend or some time when we aren't busy. I never know when I am going to crash so I tell everyone I take it one day at a time. Happy dreaming!
So an interesting time in the neighborhood. I woke up to alarms blaring. I went out to check. Something was going on in the stairwell furthest from me. I told my neighbor that I was too drugged up with sleep meds to do the stairs. Yup I looked and acted like someone very very drunk. They went down and told the fire crew. Later I heard a commotion in the hall. 2 fire fighters at the other end told me to go back in my apartment. I fell asleep and just woke up.

Oh my goodness, Lynn. I read the article. That's awful that a man died during an apartment fire, falling from his balcony. It sounds like they are investigating it as suspicious. Keep your doors locked!!!

I don't think they are treating it as suspicious any more. I always keep my door locked and use the peep hole. So yup security...check. I even had them check my fire extinguisher last fire check. They do a fire check about 4 times a year. My smoke detector is new last month.
I am just gonna stay calm and read on. Yup. You know me. Reading murder and mayhem to stay calm!
We are out for lunch for Fathers Day which is tomorrow..we never go out on the actual day. Then I’m home and going to play and try and catch up on some challenges. Have a great weekend everyone. Hugs

Oh my Lynn, that is seriuos, and so close to you! I am so glad you keep your alarms and smoke detectors up to date. I was without internet yesterday afternoon, so just reading this in the morning
Jayne, it's the Labour Day holiday weekend in the U.S. and Canada. My neighbourhood was eerily quiet last evening. Even the people across the road who did not go away, were out. So I went to bed early, as I always get up early. However waking up at 3:30 was not my intention! After trying to fall asleep, I got up and went out my front door for a temperature check. The stars are amazing this morning! We are not scheduled to walk until 8 a.m., so I may fall back to sleep yet.

In a well run building there are fire drills, alarm testing and an evacuation plan. When the fire alarm is pulled the elevators are turned off. People who cannot safely get down the stairs should stay in their place and put a wet towel under the door to stop the smoke. They can also go on the balcony. The office has a list of the less able people. For instance on the 11th floor there is a man in an electric wheelchair. He cannot get himself out and if necessary a fire crew will come and get him. So the building gets evacuated of able body people and the fire crew decide if those that are left are in danger.
Oh my goodness, Lynn! So glad you are ok. What terrible excitement! I guess it was good you were drugged up and it didn’t bother you too much. I am glad you are careful and cautious about everything.
I hope to get on track again. I've been so off since Feb when I shoved everything aside to re-do the office. I'm such a visual person athat without my boards, I just don't get anything done.
I'm back in the office tomorrow making changes to my blogs, my youtube schedule and getting my boards back on so I'll be playing more. At least that's the plan
